Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 487: Chapter 487: Vicious Mother-in-Law 33

Soon, the people who came to escort the bride arrived.

The Ma family prepared two large pots of festive noodles. Both the people who came to escort and send off the bride ate a big bowl of noodles with two poached eggs each, before they began moving the dowry.

Bicycles, sewing machines, radios, two sets of new bedding, foot basins, washbasins, various bamboo furniture, bamboo cabinets, bamboo chairs, bamboo chests... For the past half month, Ma Xiangdong hadn’t even taken the cattle out to graze. He had let a few children do it instead, all to weave a set of bamboo furniture for his little sister.

The sewing machine, bicycle, and radio that were carried out were also brand new. They were the ”Three Revolves and One Sound” gifts originally sent by the Han Family, not second-hand goods bought by Ma Xiangling.

Those few second-hand items were left with the Ma family.

This was the result of Ma Xiangling kneeling and crying, begging Ma Xiangdong and Qian Hongmei.

The second-hand goods Ma Xiangling bought were clearly distinguishable from the new ones at a glance. She was worried that if she brought the old items as her dowry to the Han Family, she would still be looked down upon by them.

So, she went to kneel and beg Ma Xiangdong and Qian Hongmei.

Although Ma Xiangling’s words were sometimes a bit harsh, they were, after all, blood siblings, and blood is thicker than water. Therefore, Ma Xiangdong quickly agreed to swap the new and old ”Three Revolves and One Sound.”

Moreover, Ma Xiangdong secretly slipped eighty yuan for Ma Xiangling to hide at the bottom of her chest.

Ma Xiangdong still had some money left, which was a bonus of three hundred yuan given to him by the department for his meritorious service despite his injuries.

Ma Xiangdong agreed to his sister’s tearful request, but worried that their mother wouldn’t be happy, he specifically spent thirty yuan to buy a second-hand radio to complete a second-hand ”Three Revolves and One Sound” set for the household.

As a result, the Han Family saw that not only did the Ma family allow the daughter-in-law to bring the ”Three Revolves and One Sound” to her new home, but they also provided her with two new quilts and a whole set of bamboo furniture as a dowry. This made the Han Family no longer dare to look down on Ma Xiangling, the country girl.

On the wedding night, Ma Xiangling had a pleasant time. Director Han was gentle and considerate, making her feel very comfortable, without much pain.

But early in the morning, just as Ma Xiangling closed her eyes to sleep, her mother-in-law’s knocking sound came, ”Second daughter-in-law, it’s almost dawn, why aren’t you getting up to make breakfast yet?”

Ma Xiangling turned over and continued to sleep with her head under the covers.

She didn’t want to get up.

She was extremely tired, unable to even open her eyes.

”Second daughter-in-law, are you up yet? I’m telling you, our Han Family doesn’t support idlers. You’re the only one without a job here, so you need to do all the housework from now on. Do you hear me?”

”Thud, thud, thud...”

”Second daughter-in-law, stop pretending to be asleep, get up already. I’ve never seen such a lazy daughter-in-law, sleeping in on the first day of marriage and still not getting up even after being called so many times. Truly someone from the countryside, shameless. Do you know what time it is, still lying on my son’s body?”

Mrs. Han’s words became more and more unpleasant.

Her voice grew louder and louder.

Han Conghui was woken up by the noise. He nudged Ma Xiangling, ”Mother is calling you to make breakfast, get up quickly, don’t let her keep nagging.”

Ma Xiangling really didn’t want to get up, but Han Conghui pulled her out of bed by lifting her covers, then went back to sleep himself.

Ma Xiangling was filled with anger and resentment, but thinking it was just the first day of her marriage, she couldn’t argue with her husband, or else everyone in the Han Family would look down on her.

Ma Xiangling had to swallow her grievances and anger and went to the kitchen to make breakfast.

For more than ten years, Ma Xiangling had been spoiled by the original host, and only recently started doing chores in the past six months. But she had never really cooked, just helped her two sisters-in-law.

An hour later, the Han Family looked at the two badly burnt dishes on the table, along with a boiled dish and a pot of half-cooked rice. Everyone stared incredulously at Ma Xiangling.
