The Wizard's Pursuit of Truth

”Wait. Luo Dan, come to my side.”

Rilis, holding the feather pen, suddenly spoke. Her gaze met the eyes of Wang Ya and Zack Antuun.

She didn’t trust these two, especially the masked one. He was exceedingly strange, even more insidious than she was.

Even so, Rilis knew he was wary of her too, afraid he couldn’t kill her.

This mutual apprehension was the only reason they had arrived at this Wizard Contract.

Murphy’s face paled. Lord Rilis was still on guard.

Zack Antuun watched with cold eyes and sneered, ”Would the great Lord City Lord actually be afraid of two little Wizards like us? How very surprising.”

”You’re hardly ’little Wizards.’ If I let my guard down, even an Extreme Wizard Apprentice would suffer a great loss at your hands.”

Rilis said, her words ambiguous—it was unclear if she was exaggerating or belittling them.

Her right hand held the Black Core, its surface gleaming as unique Spells revolved upon it. Her left hand gripped the feather pen. Her face was deathly pale, devoid of color, and she looked as if she could collapse at any moment, yet the pressure of her grip remained perfectly steady.

It even gave Wang Ya the illusion that he might not have this Wizard named Rilis under his control at all.

He smiled and said, ”I trust the Lord City Lord will make the right choice. After all, we’re the best of friends, aren’t we?”

In his heart, however, a sense of unease was gradually growing.

’It may not be the perfect moment, but I have to try. There’s only one chance.’

Beneath the Red Lotus Mask, Wang Ya’s expression was incredibly grim. His Illusion Body didn’t need to breathe, but he subconsciously slowed his breathing anyway.

The Wizard Contract, in addition to a drop of blood, required one to sign their true name and leave a trace of their Spiritual Power, and even their Soul Power.

The contract would be established under the notarization of the Eye of Judgment.

If either party violated it, the Eye of Judgment would follow that trace of Soul Power, Spiritual Power, blood, and true name to enact a comprehensive judgment.

Typically, signing with just two of these would suffice.

But to be safe, Wang Ya had insisted on the highest possible standard.

Even the Wizard Contract he had signed with Kaze Antuun had only required three of the conditions above.

Rilis signed rather slowly. When it was time to provide a drop of blood, her expression darkened, as if she recalled the humiliation and pain Wang Ya had inflicted upon her.

Especially since his hand was still plunged into her chest.

She could feel every subtle tremor of his palm, a sensation that resonated deep within her soul.

Fortunately, such a wound was not incurable for a Wizard.

For a Wizard of her level, it was merely a minor injury.

’Two damned Dark Wizards, and they want my Magic Stones and resources...’ A cold glint appeared in Rilis’s eyes. ’I’ll satisfy their demands, and I’ll even throw in a grand gift—provided they have what it takes to receive it.’

The moment Rilis finished signing and set down the feather pen, her expression changed drastically. Already on guard, she keenly sensed a sudden movement from Black Soul Luo Dan.

”How dare you—!” Before Rilis could finish, another party launched an attack amidst the intersecting auras.

It was Murphy. The timing was exquisite, striking at the precise moment she had set down the feather pen but had not yet raised her left hand.

For some reason, she was reminded of when the masked man had pierced her chest from behind.

She seemed to have grasped something—a way to counter his bizarre methods.

FWOOSH!

The same terrifying Spiritual Power that had once destroyed hundreds of Puppets erupted from Rilis as the epicenter. It pressed outward in all directions, so powerful that the air itself became a visible medium rippling with shockwaves.

Unleashing such a technique was not without cost. It consumed a massive amount of Extraordinary Spiritual Power and required a period of recovery.

Otherwise, she would have long since tried to use her Extraordinary Spiritual Power to restrain the masked man behind her.

Luo Dan’s and Murphy’s attacks were useless. Under such immense repulsive pressure, the energy from their Witchcraft spells backfired, engulfing them completely. Only a single, miserable scream was heard.

The floor tiles turned to dust, one by one. The ceiling buckled, and cracks spiderwebbed across the walls. Table fragments, plates, and other clutter were all violently shoved aside.

Zack Antuun was sent flying like a dead dog, slamming hard against a wall in a pathetic heap.

Rilis focused a third of her Extraordinary Spiritual Power on Wang Ya’s Illusion Body behind her.

Like a watermelon crushed from the inside, the body instantly turned to pulp under the immense pressure, yet not a single drop of blood or flesh appeared.

Rilis’s expression flickered, but the situation was still within her control. As she calmed down, she noticed something unusual blanketing the hall.

It was subtle, its aura nearly nonexistent, but it was not without a trace.

As her Extraordinary Spiritual Power erupted, she was able to perceive much more... Unbeknownst to her, the entire hall had been covered by a Biological Force Field.

Rilis’s pupils contracted. This was simply unbelievable.

’Could this be the origin of his bizarre methods?’

A Biological Force Field that was dreamlike and illusory, impossible to see clearly. It seemed untouchable even by her Extraordinary Spiritual Power, existing independently of her own Biological Force Field as if on another plane of existence.

Rilis had to admit, the shocks this masked man delivered came one after another.
