The Wizard's Pursuit of Truth

There were also Wizards in the Wizard Mansion. Law Enforcement Captain Murphy was a famous name in Celestial Wings Wizard City. The Wizards’ anger from the late-night disturbance subsided in Murphy’s presence, and they remained silent.

”Now? Wizard Murphy, isn’t it a bit too late?” Wang Ya transmitted the message with his Extraordinary Spiritual Power.

”Not at all. The City Lord is on a very tight schedule and rarely has a moment to spare. If we waited until daytime, she would likely go to inspect the Flying Griffin breeding grounds, and your business would be delayed again.”

”Besides, the City Lord insisted I bring you over. She said she wants to hear about how things are at headquarters, as she hasn’t been back in a long time. It’s not just you—several other Wizards from headquarters have also been invited to the banquet.”

Wang Ya had already sat up in bed. Beneath his Red Lotus Mask, his expression was incredibly grim, his eyes dark and shadowed.

’It seems the Black Wizard behind the scenes has really caught on.’

’They probably don’t have any specific information, so now they’re investigating all the Foreigners one by one.’

’As for the city gates, they must have thought of that. I’m sure they sent people to seal them off immediately.’

”Since the City Lord insists, I’ll go with you, Wizard Murphy.”

Wang Ya kept his tone and demeanor perfectly normal.

’Any suspicious move right now would undoubtedly expose me.’

’No one could predict what the consequences would be.’

’But in all likelihood, the Wizards from the entire Law Enforcement Team and the City Lord’s Mansion would be coming to arrest me.’

’The highest echelons of Celestial Wings Wizard City have all been replaced. Even if there were some unreplaced Law Enforcement Wizards or City Lord Mansion Wizards in the lower ranks, it would be futile.’

’They would probably just follow orders, which would mean huge trouble for me.’

’I’m not yet arrogant enough to think I can take on the official Wizards of an entire Wizard City.’

’Even an Extreme Wizard Apprentice would have to think twice, since the City Lord’s Mansion has control over the special Witch Array that covers the entire city.’

”Wizard Arthur, please come with me.”

Murphy watched the figure in the black Wizard Robe and Red Lotus Mask walk out of the mansion. A friendly smile touched his lips as he glanced back, signaling the numerous Wizards behind him.

They immediately fanned out, subtly surrounding Wang Ya.

No one could see the change in Wang Ya’s expression beneath the Red Lotus Mask.

Once they were far from the Wizard Mansion, the corners of his mouth beneath the mask curled into a smirk.

Back in his room at the mansion, slender, pale fingers pushed the window open a crack. A Red Lotus Mask was clearly visible as a pair of dispassionate eyes watched the departing Law Enforcement Wizards and the other Wang Ya walking in their midst.

’I’m not stupid enough to risk my real body. My improved Illusion Body is indistinguishable from my real self, as long as it has enough Dream Power.’

’Even under the cover of my Flame Demon Domain, I can use a Combined Witchcraft that allows my real body to switch places with any of my numerous Illusion Bodies.’

’As for the sealed city gates, they don’t matter to me at all.’

A bone-chilling wind blew, and the streetlights flickered. Wang Ya emerged from the shadows of a corner, his gaze fixed on the towering city gate ahead and the Law Enforcement Wizards standing guard.

Harak hadn’t accompanied him on this Wizard Task.

He had spent a great deal of Magic Stones to purchase a considerable number of Extraordinary Creatures for Harak to devour and raise the upper limits of his potential.

This process would take a very long time and served as preparation for fusing with the Dream Infinite Genome in the future.

Wang Ya glanced at an approaching patrol of Wizards, then slowly retreated and melted back into the shadows.

In front of a towering section of the city wall, Wang Ya knew that without the ability to fly, it was impossible to leave Celestial Wings Wizard City. But the Witch Array covering the entire city targeted the sky, interfering with any flying object and preventing it from getting in or out.

Whoever controlled the Witch Array could use its full power to instantly destroy anyone or anything that tried to fly in or out.

It was a power comparable to that of an Extreme Wizard Apprentice, and it recharged extremely quickly.

His pupils shimmered with a faint blue light. Using the Eye of Truth, he could see a dense web of tiny, fluctuating threads filling the night sky.

Wang Ya looked away from the sky and focused on the wall in front of him. It also had some kind of sensory function; any attempt to damage it would be detected instantly.

The wall was also built from Extraordinary Ore, which could defend against Witchcraft and Extraordinary Power, making it very difficult to break through.

Activating his Dream Sense, a white glow appeared on the surface of his skin.

A familiar corner of the Dream Realm once again came into his view.

The Dream Gap formed a connection between the two realms.

A powerful Biological Force Field spread out from Wang Ya. The intense Extraordinary Fluctuations it should have produced were instead rendered subtle and silent, muffled by the infusion of Dream Power.

It even completely bypassed the wall’s sensory wards.

His new Flame Demon Domain covered a sixty-meter radius. Even a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice walking through the area would be unable to detect any Extraordinary Fluctuations, let alone counter it with their own Biological Force Field.

It was as if his Biological Force Field existed in another dimension entirely.

This was one of the Combined Witchcrafts Wang Ya had developed—the Illusion Demon Domain. It blended the dual Traits of an Elemental Wizard and a Dream Wizard.

The next moment, Wang Ya’s physical body blurred and vanished from its spot.

Outside Celestial Wings Wizard City, Wang Ya glanced at the identical Illusion Body beside him. With a light snap of his fingers, he used the Illusion Demon Domain as a medium to make the Illusion Body appear inside the city, where it concealed itself in the shadows of a corner.

The Illusion Demon Domain dissipated. Wang Ya strode toward the Primitive Forest outside, sending a part of his consciousness through the connection to take control of one of the Illusion Bodies inside Celestial Wings Wizard City.

Wang Ya could control two Illusion Bodies at most; the rest could only serve as secondary bodies.

...

Murphy had been observing Wang Ya’s reactions the entire time, but he found the man to be perfectly calm, as if he were truly just on his way to a banquet.

’Maybe it’s not him?’

’Whether it’s him or not, all the Dark Land Wizards who have come to Celestial Wings Wizard City recently are on the invitation list anyway.’

’Under Lady Rilis’s personal scrutiny, we’ll definitely be able to root out the Wizard who’s suspected of discovering the truth.’

’The Witch Array is already active. Not even a mouse can escape Celestial Wings Wizard City now.’

’Murphy was furious, too. This was all Luo Dan’s fault. If it hadn’t been for him, the Blood Wizard named Klau would have been replaced successfully long ago.’

’And no news would have made it back to headquarters.’

’This Arthur is the most suspicious of all; he came here for Klau.’

Beneath the Red Lotus Mask, the Illusion Body of Wang Ya was deep in thought. ’This is a good opportunity to probe the Black Wizard’s true strength.’

The other Law Enforcement Wizards departed, leaving only Murphy and four others to escort Wang Ya into the City Lord’s Mansion.

The moment he stepped inside, the Illusion Body of Wang Ya felt a tension grip his heart, as if he was being watched.

”You must be Wizard Arthur. The City Lord has been waiting for you for a long time. You’re the last to arrive.”

Luo Dan walked out with a smile, followed by several City Lord Mansion Wizards. Their gazes, some overt and some subtle, were all fixed on the Illusion Body of Wang Ya.

”That friend of yours just arrived as well.”

”Follow me. The banquet is this way.”
