Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chen Ming finished the reception process arranged for He Gu.

The two of them then went together to Chen Ming’s research institute.

There is a dedicated reception room here.

Altogether it didn’t take long, since He Gu’s visit this time wasn’t for official business, but rather of a more personal nature.

Moreover, Chen Ming didn’t have much experience in hosting, so he kept everything simple.

As soon as they entered the reception room.

Before Chen Ming could even make him tea or anything, He Gu placed the briefcase he had been carrying flat on the table.

”Take a look, this is what you wanted.”

He opened the briefcase.

Inside the case were two miniature Life Support Storage Tanks wrapped in black foam.

Through the transparent material of the tank’s surface casing, one could see each of the tanks contained a pure white Artificial Enlightenment Nerve, about the thickness of a pinky and several centimeters long.

In addition to the Enlightenment Nerves, the briefcase also held a square instrument, which should be the equipment He Gu mentioned before for testing the properties of Psychics’ Spiritual Energy.

This instrument can help choose suitable Spiritual Materials to manufacture adaptive weapons or other things based on the detected properties of a Psychic’s Spiritual Energy.

Chen Ming really needed this, after all, he had come into contact with so many different types and properties of Spiritual Energy items, but he still hadn’t found anything that completely suited him.

He Gu took the two Life Support Storage Tanks out of the case and placed them steadily on the coffee table.

He pointed to an area on the side of the tank covered with small writing and said, ”The manual is here. If you temporarily take out the Enlightenment Nerve, remember to put it back in. Leaving it outside will kill the Enlightenment Nerve.”

”Also, this small jar contains a filtration device. Just replace it with any universal Nutrient Liquid available outside at regular intervals.”

”Using this method, preserving them for ten days to half a month is not a problem, but for longer durations, you need to use specialized Nutrient Liquids.”

”I recall there’s some at the branch here as well. You should be able to get it with some effort; call me if there are any other issues.”

”Okay.”

Chen Ming casually picked up a tank, holding it in front of himself, inspecting it carefully.

The Enlightenment Nerve in the Life Support Tank appeared much like the one Dusk intended to use on him in the past, equally plump, with nerve bifurcations at the tip, resembling a large white worm.

However, what He Gu gave him now was clearly more docile than the Enlightenment Nerve that Dusk previously intended for him.

Dusk’s Enlightenment Nerve seemed ready to devour his Enlightenment Nerve.

It must have been specially cultivated and extremely vigorous.

This implies that if Chen Ming wishes to attempt extracting the Enlightenment Nerves of the few Psychic captives he has with the Enlightenment Nerve provided by He Gu, certain cultivations would be necessary.

”Speaking of which, I remember that when I was with Dusk, I saw they stored Enlightenment Nerves using equipment different from this.”

As he took another instrument out of the case, He Gu asked, ”What did theirs look like?”

”Green and black cylindrical objects, like medicine bottles, with a slight curve, just right to hold in your hand.”

”Oh, I remember. Those were left by a now-destroyed civilization, and our tank is modeled after the original.”

”I see.”

Chen Ming replied casually.

While chatting with He Gu about his past experiences with Dusk, he continued to completely immerse his Spiritual Power into the Life Support Tank, carefully sensing the state of the two Enlightenment Nerves within.

After a while.

He put the tanks back into the case.

He’s not planning to use these two Enlightenment Nerves for now.

He plans to reserve them for the two Psychic captives he has.

Although he could totally absorb these two Enlightenment Nerves.

However, during his sensing just now, he discovered a problem.

His Spiritual Power is currently at a special tipping point.

This is partly due to reaching the current limit of his Spiritual Power growth.

And partly because upon reaching this limit, his exposure to the Crimson Dimension refined his Spiritual Power, making absorbing other ordinary Enlightenment Nerves diminish his Spiritual Power state instead.

It’s like his Spiritual Power growth is akin to filling a large pit with soil.

The soil is everywhere; various Spiritual Stones assisting the Spiritual Power training and other auxiliary tools, as well as the Ship Spirit, are like shovels for Chen Ming’s soil-filling.

Originally, he filled soil one shovel at a time, tamping it down shovel by shovel—it was going well.

Chen Ming occasionally could obtain large blocks of pre-compressed soil from others similar to the soil for filling his pit; in other words, absorbing Enlightenment Nerves.

However, when he encountered the Crimson Dimension simultaneously.

The Crimson Dimension was like a steamroller compressing across his filled pit, pressing down what looked decently solid ground by several dozen centimeters.

The steamroller operator left a business card, offering his services if needed.

He even taught Chen Ming how to use the shovel to tamp down soil to match the compactness of being run over by a steamroller.

So at this point, the pre-packaged blocks of soil now differed from Chen Ming’s already compacted soil.

These packaged soils could no longer easily convert into his soil. So, even if he absorbed an Enlightenment Nerve now, it wouldn’t help him break through his current limit.
