Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chen Ming seized the perfect moment to leap from the ground, reaching out to grab the chain in Liang Fei’s palm.

The next moment, he was pulled up by Liang Fei.

With Liang Fei’s help, Chen Ming climbed onto the shuttle boat’s hatch in one breath, and was yanked inside by Liang Fei.

”Hold on tight!”

Liang Fei gave Chen Ming a push, sealed the hatch, and shouted toward the command room: ”We’re off!”

The shuttle boat immediately began to accelerate.

If Chen Ming guessed correctly, it should be Li Weiqi piloting inside the cockpit.

They had spotted him before leaving and chose to risk their lives to rescue him.

Chen Ming said nothing more, mentally marking this event.

He cooperated by sitting in the shuttle boat’s seat.

Silently, he watched Li Weiqi piloting the shuttle boat, navigating past the scattered thermal pulse lasers and large-caliber weapons raining down from the Offensive Level ship above, continually advancing and climbing.

As long as there were no accidents, the shuttle boat should soon be able to escape the main ship’s firing range.

But, accidents clearly do not shift by human will.

Just as the shuttle boat was climbing, the entire vessel suddenly shook violently a few times.

Liang Fei, who had been observing the thermal pulse laser barrage from the window, bumped his head against the glass, and couldn’t help but shout at the cockpit: ”Li Weiqi!”

Li Weiqi did not respond.

From where Chen Ming was sitting, he could see through the still-open cockpit door that Li Weiqi had turned his head, vomiting not just half-digested food, but also blood clots and twitching tissue.

His abdomen suddenly convulsed unnaturally.

”Something’s wrong with Li Weiqi!”

Chen Ming unbuckled his seatbelt and rushed to the cockpit.

There, he saw the weakened Li Weiqi setting the autopilot with difficulty, forced to lean back in his chair, face pale, having lost the ability to function.

He spoke slowly, word by word: ”I think... I’m about to die.”

At this point, Liang Fei also entered the cockpit, panicking immediately upon hearing Li Weiqi’s words.

”Help take over here!”

He hurriedly patted Chen Ming on the shoulder, pushing him to control the ship, as autopilot was incapable of evading thermal pulse lasers.

Meanwhile, he pulled Li Weiqi from the pilot’s seat to the rear of the cockpit.

Li Weiqi lay on the ground, his abdominal convulsions intensifying.

Something was moving inside.

Chen Ming quickly used his Spiritual Energy to control the ship, discreetly overclocking it to rapidly escape the current wave of the thermal pulse laser bombardment, and reactivated the autopilot actually under his direct control.

When he returned outside, he saw Liang Fei examining Li Weiqi’s abdomen with medical equipment.

From the display linked to adjacent devices, Li Weiqi’s insides were a complete mess.

The situation was apparent.

”He’s been infected by the dimension, and it’s quite severe.”

It seemed that without immediate surgery, even a few minutes’ delay might prevent Li Weiqi from even leaving the atmosphere alive.

Watching Li Weiqi’s life force grow weaker and weaker, Liang Fei seemed to sense the outcome as well.

Uncertain whether he was comforting Li Weiqi or himself, he said: ”He won’t die.”

Chen Ming suddenly remembered what the director had said earlier: ”Not every Psychic can survive a dimensional infection.”

Liang Fei’s hand froze momentarily, his face left only with regret.

However, Chen Ming quickly added: ”But he can, he still has a chance.”

Liang Fei immediately turned to Chen Ming, eyes filled with hope: ”How?”

”Step aside and prepare the medicine first.”

”What medicine?”

”Any kind of medicine.”

Liang Fei immediately stood up, making space for Chen Ming by Li Weiqi’s side, heading to the shuttle boat’s storage room to retrieve some emergency medical supplies they had prepared beforehand.

Seeing Li Weiqi at the brink of life and death, Chen Ming dared not hesitate further, allowing his left arm to enter an Insectification state.

Three tendrils of varying sizes, composed of Insect Race muscle, waved on his left arm.

Li Weiqi, now in a deep coma and utterly unconscious, would not be receiving anesthesia.

The sharp carapace, like a surgical knife, precisely cut open Li Weiqi’s abdominal clothing, skin, and muscle tissue.

Inside his abdomen, the entire intestines had fully mutated, constantly tearing at the surrounding relatively healthy organs and tissues.

Nearby liver, kidneys, and stomach also showed defects and obvious injuries.

Blood was flowing continually.

Even those injured organs showed signs of infection assimilation.

With a frown, Chen Ming inserted the tendrils into his abdominal cavity, brutally severing all the intestines affected by mutations.

Just then, Liang Fei returned with a large medical kit to the center of the shuttle boat.

He saw Chen Ming’s tendrils severing the infected organs, forcibly extracting those organs trying to fight back at Chen Ming.

He grew anxious at once.

”You!”

It’s not that he didn’t want Chen Ming to operate; the fact that dimensional infections target organs had been revealed by the director long ago.

Early surgical intervention and removal of mutated organs are the best survival strategy during an infection’s initial stages.

His primary concern now was the environment.

After all, Chen Ming was operating inside the shuttle boat, a place far from sterile, wearing An Wuping’s skin, using Spiritual Energy-generated carapace. Even if Li Weiqi were saved now, the subsequent infection could still claim his life.
