Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Before the president could ask which piece of news Chen Ming wanted to hear, Chen Ming quickly responded first, ”Okay.”

”Alright.”

”Just now, the psychic of Zuo Jing, known as the Host with brainwashing and hypnosis abilities, had his spiritual energy fluctuation disappeared.”

”Originally, those controlled by his spiritual energy almost all chose to surrender after being released from control. You saw that too, right?”

Upon hearing this, Chen Ming immediately pulled up the recordings kept by the Dusk Fleet deployed at the edges of various star systems.

Earlier, he was controlling An Wuping to reach the face of the Meat Mountain that the Host had become.

The Host then chose to have the fleet in the Lucy Star System, with Prometheus as the flagship, launch an offensive outward, and all those he controlled rushed forward madly in a desperate charge.

And after Chen Ming fought with the Host in the consciousness space to the death,

the Host’s spiritual energy failed, and those in the battling fleets naturally regained their sanity.

Most of the rational ones, of course, chose to cease fire and retreat, disarm, and opt for surrender.

Those without reason, of course, turned into flares.

”Understood.”

After confirming that the Lucy Star System had completely fallen under the control of the Fifth Legion, with order prevailing once more, Chen Ming asked, ”And the bad news?”

The president said, ”Before the Host’s spiritual energy fluctuation disappeared, a massive amount of dimensionally infected spiritual energy fluctuation appeared deep underground at the power supply tower, and these energy fluctuations completely leaked out.”

”The entire planet has been completely infected, and it is estimated that the surviving population is no more than 0.01%.”

”...”

Chen Ming fell silent.

He actually knew this news.

At the time when he was engaging with the Host, before entering the consciousness space, the dimensional infection had already begun to leak.

He couldn’t do much then but try to speed up, but even speeding up, he didn’t spend more than five minutes face-to-face with the Host before determining the outcome.

However, this speed was still a step too slow.

The president couldn’t discern much from Chen Ming’s silence and continued, ”The Fifth Legion speculated that An Wuping took down Zuo Jing’s psychic, during the battle leading the Host to leak dimensional infection, causing the fall of the entire planet from the industrial area.”

”Not many can survive, it’s really a pity.”

”But we don’t have to worry, Zuo Jing continuing to mess with dimensional infection, nor fearing the Fifth Legion creating some new trouble with the power of dimensional infection.”

”However, it seems the Fifth Legion is quite upset, and I don’t know if they’ll make some small moves in other aspects.”

The good feelings Chen Ming accumulated from cooperation with the Fifth Legion recently had already vanished due to their actions: ”The attitude of the Fifth Legion doesn’t matter; they are merely a Legion. What’s key is the Empire’s stance.”

It was evident that the president also had contacts within the Empire, saying, ”The Empire doesn’t care; if they can obtain that power, great, if not, as long as there are no subsequent troubles, it’s fine.”

”Otherwise, top-tier psychics with the Empire’s background would have rushed over to seize that power long ago.”

Chen Ming suddenly had a question: ”Uh... speaking of which, why doesn’t the Empire send top-tier psychics to grab this power?”

”Zuo Jing’s psychics shouldn’t be considered top-tier, right? It feels like they can’t face the boss directly, so why doesn’t the Empire send psychics of sufficient level over?”

The president explained: ”The logic is simple, risking a top-tier psychic for a power with uncertain specific negative effects related to dimensional infection, do you think this deal is worthwhile?”

”Definitely not.”

”So, it’s not problematic to leave such matters to subordinates to handle, right?”

”Indeed.”

Seizing power is not the same as destroying it. Seizing requires getting close, not remotely dispatching Zuo Jing’s psychics with spiritual energy.

If there really had been a psychic of the same caliber as the boss involved in this matter before, reaching beneath the power supply tower,

then Chen Ming couldn’t say whether the rift leading to the Crimson Dimension created by the Host before dying would have killed that psychic.

After all, Chen Ming knew he was special; his spiritual energy was entwined with the Crimson Dimension from the start, so he could survive and return after his consciousness entered the Crimson Dimension for nearly a second.

But for others, it’s hard to say.

Zuo Jing’s contingency plan indeed poses a significant threat to other psychics.

Thus, the Empire’s attitude was as such.

Since it was all over, Chen Ming didn’t elaborate further; he simply asked another question: ”How top-tier is a top-tier psychic? Is there a specific level classification for psychics?”

The president countered, ”Why this sudden question?”

”I heard from others that I’m a level 5 psychic, just curious, wanted to ask.”

”Oh, it’s not like I can’t tell you.”

”I’ll briefly explain from low to high.”

”A level 1 psychic is one who just awakened, only aware of their spiritual energy and capable of performing some basic spiritual energy effects.”

”Level 2, some time has passed since awakening, capable of proficiently using basic spiritual energy effects and potentially starting further spiritual energy development.”
