Ruling Martial World by Infinite Insect Swarms

Chapter 184: Chapter 172: The Demon Suppression Bureau’s Warning, the Ling State Assassination List

Qin Yu fully expected the people from the Demon Suppression Bureau to come.

After all, the Cyan Profound Sect was the number one sect in Yunlong County, boasting a full three experts in the Primordial Mansion Realm. How could the Demon Suppression Bureau not investigate their sudden annihilation? After all, the Yunlong County Demon Suppression Bureau only had three Primordial Mansion Realm experts themselves!

It was no exaggeration to say that the entire Bureau was shocked when they learned of the sect’s destruction from their surveillance team. They had watched Qin Yu’s strength break through right before their eyes! It had only been five short days! For him to wipe out the Cyan Profound Sect so cleanly and decisively? It was simply unbelievable.

WHOOSH!

A massive Flying Ship, hundreds of feet long and flying the flag of the Demon Suppression Bureau, sped over from the distance, only slowly decelerating as it approached the mountain gate of the Cyan Profound Sect.

Demon Suppression Generals Chen Jianqiu and Zhang Han stood on the deck, their scalps tingling as they gazed at the Insect Swarm swarming over the mountains and plains, as well as the completely unrecognizable mountain gate. A terrifying, bottomless crater with edges as smooth as glass had appeared on the once picturesque Cyan Nether Peak. Most of the sprawling architectural complexes had been reduced to ruins, with black smoke curling up from the rubble.

Hordes of hideous Rapid Insects, heavily armored mutant cockroaches, and Thorn Snakes rearing up on their hind legs with swollen venom glands lined the area. There were also three Mountain-Splitting Thunder Beasts, looking like moving hills covered in thick Crystal Armor and baring ferocious fangs. They were highly organized—some patrolled, some cleared debris, and others stood guard.

The sky was equally blotted out. Hundreds of Thunder Rocs with wingspans exceeding a hundred feet circled high above, their bodies wreathed in lightning. On the surrounding peaks, numerous Four-winged Black Thorn Eagles and Heaven-Burning Fire Crows had landed to rest.

At the center of it all was the Leviathan, coiled atop Cyan Nether Peak like a descending divine demon. Its massive, 1,200-meter-long body and the overwhelming aura emanating from its ferocious dragon head left even veteran Primordial Mansion Realm experts like Chen Jianqiu and Zhang Han deeply shaken.

They had truly wiped out the entire sect!

Outside Bishui City.

Although Qin Yu controlled an Insect Swarm, his strongest forces had been just a few Qi Sea Realm entities and tens of thousands of Qi and Blood Battle Beasts. His ability to contend and fight with the forces of the Bishui River relied entirely on numbers and Daoist Soldier Arrays!

But now, at a single glance, there were nearly a thousand Qi Sea Realm Battle Beasts. With such terrifying strength, even without that colossal behemoth, the Cyan Profound Sect probably wouldn’t have been a match for him.

”Did the Qin family hide their true strength back then?” Chen Jianqiu cast a complex gaze below the Leviathan, where a tall, straight figure stood atop the ruins, looking right back at them.

”He’s making a show of power!” Zhang Han also sighed. With the Demon Suppression Bureau’s intelligence network, how could they not know how many factions had secretly infiltrated Cyan Peak County and the Wilderness Mountain Range recently? The Cyan Profound Sect had kicked an iron plate!

Making an example out of someone? No, this was slaughtering the strongest to terrify the weak. By directly wiping out the most powerful Cyan Profound Sect with lightning-fast, ruthless methods, who else would dare harbor any ulterior motives?

”It’s just that this show of power is far too brutal,” Chen Jianqiu shook his head. ”From top to bottom of the Cyan Profound Sect, aside from the few who fled early or were away, I’m afraid... not even a chicken or dog was spared.”

”So what?” Zhang Han’s eyes regained their composure. ”Over the years, the Cyan Profound Sect has become increasingly arrogant.

”Relying on the formidable strength of Withered Bamboo Ancestor, they didn’t even put our Demon Suppression Bureau in their eyes. They secretly provoked us time and again, and they certainly haven’t done any less burning, killing, and looting. We just lacked the strength in the past; otherwise, we wouldn’t have needed Qin Yu to take action. The Demon Suppression Bureau would have wiped out the Cyan Profound Sect long ago!

”Our purpose for this trip is to clarify Qin Yu’s stance. As long as he doesn’t openly oppose the Court, doesn’t indiscriminately slaughter innocent civilians, and doesn’t collude with Evil Demons and Outsiders like the Blood Demon Sect, then he remains an Inspector of our Demon Suppression Bureau!”

The Cyan Profound Sect? Wiped out is wiped out! Threatening the family members of the Demon Suppression Bureau was a capital offense!

It was the ultimate taboo within the Bureau! Even though Qin Yu was only an Inspector in name, he was personally appointed by the Governor. For the Cyan Profound Sect to turn around and provoke him was nothing short of courting death.

Furthermore, while Qin Yu’s actions were ruthless, he actually possessed a great sense of propriety. Before taking action, he had notified the Demon Suppression Bureau. At the time, the Bureau had not objected.

After all, no one expected him to actually annihilate the sect; they assumed he would simply clash with them to force their retreat. As the two men conversed via secret voice transmission, the Flying Ship slowly landed on an empty clearing outside the mountain gate that the Insect Swarm had swept clean.

The moment they touched down, Qin Yu’s voice drifted over.

”General Chen, General Zhang. The two of you have traveled a long way. Please forgive me for not coming out to greet you.”

Chen Jianqiu and Zhang Han felt a slight chill in their hearts. They could clearly sense that compared to his time at Bishui City, the aura radiating from Qin Yu was now much more condensed and profound. Although he was still only in the Qi Sea Realm, the faint, oppressive pressure he exuded was in no way inferior to that of the Primordial Mansion Realm.

”You’re too polite, Inspector Qin.” Chen Jianqiu cupped his fists in return and cut straight to the chase. ”The matter of the Cyan Profound Sect has shaken the entire county. Our duties at the Demon Suppression Bureau require us to investigate, so we had to come. May I ask Inspector Qin, as for everyone in the Cyan Profound Sect, where are they now...”

”They intended to murder the family members of a Demon Suppression Bureau Inspector. The evidence was conclusive, and they stubbornly resisted, so they have already been executed.” Qin Yu’s tone was flat. ”The two rebel leaders, Withered Bamboo and Purple Cloud, were captured. The rest who resisted were entirely wiped out. Of course, I am not one to kill indiscriminately. Most of the ordinary disciples of the Cyan Profound Sect are still alive.”

Saying this, he tossed over a Jade Scroll.

Chen Jianqiu caught it and swept it with his Divine Thought. It contained a brief record of the Cyan Profound Sect sending people to sneak into Cyan Peak County with malicious intent, as well as a general overview of the battle.

He really came prepared.

After Chen Jianqiu and Zhang Han finished reviewing it, their minds were as clear as a mirror. Whether the evidence was completely unimpeachable was another matter entirely. The stance Qin Yu presented and the justification he provided gave the Demon Suppression Bureau an acceptable reason to close the case. After all, it was the Cyan Profound Sect that had crossed the line first and been caught red-handed. This could even be considered a good thing for the Bureau.

From now on, anyone who dared to target the families of Bureau members would have to carefully weigh the consequences.

”I see.” Chen Jianqiu put the Jade Scroll away, his expression unchanging. ”The Cyan Profound Sect brought this upon themselves. Inspector Qin acted according to the law; there is nothing inappropriate about it. It’s just that...”

His gaze swept over the dense, swarming Insect Swarm around them, finally landing on the seemingly slumbering Leviathan. ”Inspector Qin actually has such a powerful existence under his command. For a behemoth of this size, it would be best to keep it somewhat controlled; otherwise, it could easily cause panic.”

In truth, this was their real reason for coming. To gather intelligence on the Leviathan!

According to the secret voice transmissions from their surveillance team, the dazzling white light that shattered the Cyan Profound Sect’s Sect Protection Array from hundreds of miles away was likely unleashed by this terrifying Dragon Beast before them.

The Demon Suppression Bureau possessed extremely detailed intelligence on various kinds of Demon Fiends and the Dragon Race. As Bureau Generals, the two of them had reviewed the vast majority of those records. Yet, they had never seen anything like this existence.

Qin Yu had long anticipated this and said frankly, ”This is an ancient inheritance I accidentally acquired in a ruin deep within the Wilderness Mountain Range in my early years.

”This is the Mother of Ten Thousand Worms! It is my Lifebound Pet Beast, and the rest of the Insect Swarm army was birthed by it. I originally didn’t want to expose it, but unfortunately, there were too many covetous eyes in the dark, and the Cyan Profound Sect pressed me too hard.”

When he deployed the Leviathan, he never intended to hide it. Even if the Demon Suppression Bureau hadn’t come, he would have found a way to spread the news. So what if they knew? How many people could block a shot fired from a maximum range of 1,500 kilometers?

Those meant to die would still die! This was deterrence!

Of course, the most important thing was that a Lifebound Pet Beast couldn’t be stolen. It was already linked to its master’s life and death, making betrayal impossible. Hiding certain things would only invite more covetousness.

”Mother of Ten Thousand Worms?” Chen Jianqiu and Zhang Han exchanged a glance, both seeing the shock in each other’s eyes. The tens of thousands of Insect Race members before them were actually all birthed by it? The two instinctively found it hard to believe.

However, seeing the Leviathan’s massive, bloated, whale-like body, it did resemble certain Demon Fiends that specialized in reproduction.

”I see. It’s true that wherever there are extraordinary phenomena, there are great opportunities!” Zhang Han sighed with emotion before his expression turned serious. ”Inspector Qin, if you plan to make any more moves in the future, please notify us in advance.

”Some sects and families are indeed too arrogant and deserve a beating. However, you shouldn’t go overboard.”

His words carried a subtle warning that such incidents couldn’t happen too frequently. They wouldn’t interfere with enemies like the Zhang Family. But if he threw all of Yunlong County into a panic, then the Demon Suppression Bureau wasn’t without its methods. If the Celestial Patrol Army were dispatched, this Insect Swarm army before them, despite its strength, would be reduced to ash in the blink of an eye. That was a formidable army capable of contending with True Monarch Primordial Spirits!

”Our Qin family’s principle has always been: we will not attack unless we are attacked,” Qin Yu smiled faintly.

”That is for the best,” Chen Jianqiu nodded, relaxing slightly. ”Additionally, we also came on this trip to warn you, Inspector Qin.

”Following the battle of the Bishui River, the Blood Demon Sect placed you at number 92 on the Ling State Assassination List. After wiping out the Cyan Profound Sect this time, your ranking will likely rise even further. When that happens, quite a few experts from Evil Cults and the Demon Dao might make a move against you.”

The Ling State Assassination List?

Qin Yu didn’t feel much of a reaction, but Qin Tianfeng, who was following behind him, instantly changed his expression.

”How can that be? Qin Yu is only in the Qi Sea Realm. How could he possibly be on the Assassination List? And ranked ninety-second at that?” Qin Tianfeng asked anxiously.

Qin Yu might not know, but he was well aware that this was a hit list issued in the Dark World by the Blood Demon Sect and other Demon Dao factions. Anyone who made the list was an unparalleled genius without exception. Usually, only top-tier experts in the Primordial Mansion Realm or even the Myriad Phenomena Realm had a chance of being listed. Once on it, they would attract assassination attempts from Heterodox Sects and Demon Dao experts.

This was retaliation by the Blood Demon Sect and other Heterodox Sects for the bounties and arrest warrants placed on them by the Demon Suppression Bureau, the Celestial Patrol Army, and others. Even if geniuses from top sects were listed, there was a high probability they would perish. As for True Monarch Primordial Spirit experts, most were patriarchs of their respective domains with terrifyingly immense strength, so they rarely appeared on the list.

”What exactly is this Assassination List?” Qin Yu frowned upon seeing Qin Tianfeng’s nervous demeanor and asked.

”It is a bounty issued by the Blood Demon Sect...” Chen Jianqiu began to explain. ”In short, once you are targeted by them, it becomes extremely dangerous. It’s easy to dodge a spear in the open, but hard to guard against an arrow in the dark. Even with formidable strength, you can still fall victim to covert sneak attacks, poisons, curses, and the like.

”Even experts in the Myriad Phenomena Realm can perish. Three months ago, the Myriad Phenomena Master ranked thirty-second on the Assassination List, Demon Moon Master, died just like that.

”These Evil Demons won’t care about any honor or chivalry. It’s common for them to target family members. If you encounter them in the future, Inspector Qin, you must be extremely careful.

”You can also request aid from the Demon Suppression Bureau at any time.”

Qin Yu frowned. He wasn’t particularly worried about this so-called assassination. With his current strength, as long as he had even a split second to react and gather the Power of the Insect Swarm Dominator, he wouldn’t fear even a Myriad Phenomena Realm expert.

Besides, even if an assassination attempt succeeded, it would just mean swapping bodies for him. But the threat to his parents and family was different. It seemed the defense systems around his family needed another upgrade.

”I understand! Thank you for letting me know. I know what to do.”
