Ruling Martial World by Infinite Insect Swarms

Chapter 153: Chapter 147: Demon Suppression Cave Breached, Celestial Patrol Army Appears

”Demon Suppression Cave?”

Qin Yu frowned in the sky.

He’d never heard of it. Having risen through the ranks so quickly, he was ignorant of much of the basic common knowledge in the world of cultivation, to say nothing of something that sounded so clandestine.

”I’ve read about them in some ancient texts. It’s said that there are many extremely bizarre existences in the world. Not only are they incredibly powerful, but they are also notoriously difficult to kill.

If a countermeasure can’t be found, the only option is to suppress them with a seal.

And let the Power of Time erode them into nothingness.”

Qin Wenyuan flew over, his eyes locked on the Blood Sea Array below. He stared at the three-eyed statue that continuously released a blood-red mist, then glanced over at the Nine-Headed Flesh Golem.

”Are you familiar with Flesh Golems? They’re incredibly hard to deal with, possessing astonishing Life Force, right? But compared to those truly evil and bizarre entities, Flesh Golems are nothing.

Legend has it that the mastermind behind the Blood Demon Sect is an Evil Demon that escaped from one such Demon Suppression Cave.”

Qin Yu nodded slightly. Flesh Golems were indeed tenacious creatures.

Just as he was about to speak, a streak of light shot over from behind him.

Qin Yu frowned. The newcomer was Wan Yongchang, the Primordial Mansion Realm expert from the Treasure Pavilion.

When the Blood Demon Formation blanketing Bishui City was shattered, the other factions had all but fled in pursuit of the Five Poison Sect’s legacy. Chen Jianqiu had gone to hunt down Mo Yuzi and intercept the Bishui River Dragon King.

Only Wan Yongchang, who seemed to have sensed something was wrong, did not take action.

”Beneath this Demon Suppression Cave lies an Evil Dragon that wreaked havoc 50,000 years ago! Back then, Great Wei expended tremendous effort to defeat it, but in the end, they were unable to kill it completely and could only seal it here.

I felt something was wrong the moment the Bishui River Dragon King appeared.

It was only after I reported this to my headquarters that I learned the truth.”

Wan Yongchang stared grimly at the sealing altar, his expression dark.

’Informing headquarters?’

Qin Yu understood instantly. ’No wonder he didn’t make a move right away.’

’He was busy gathering intelligence.’

’He was nearly refined into sacrificial material by Mo Yuzi of the Blood Demon Sect. There’s no way he’d let go of a life-and-death grudge like that so easily.’

But in the next moment, Qin Yu’s expression darkened as well. ”Fifty thousand years? Is the Evil Dragon sealed in there an Immortal?”

A Myriad Phenomena Master lives for eight hundred years.

A True Monarch Primordial Spirit lives for ten thousand.

’If the one sealed inside was at the Primordial Spirit Realm, it would have died long, long ago.’

’But if it was an Immortal inside...’

’Then there would be nothing left to say. It’d be time to run for our lives.’

’Even if it was weakened from being sealed for fifty thousand years, it was still far beyond what a few Primordial Mansion Realm cultivators could ever hope to challenge.’

”No! It’s an Evil Dragon of the Primordial Spirit Realm!”

Wan Yongchang shook his head, seemingly guessing Qin Yu’s thoughts, and continued.

”After being sealed in the Demon Suppression Cave for fifty thousand years, there’s a good chance that Evil Dragon is dead. And that’s likely the Bishui River Dragon King’s grand plan. A being at the Primordial Spirit Realm is so powerful that its corpse wouldn’t decay, even after death. What he wants is the Dragon Pearl! A Primordial Spirit Realm Dragon Pearl! With his current foundation, if he were to swallow it, he could probably break through to the Myriad Phenomena Realm in an instant...”

Qin Yu’s pupils contracted.

He looked up at the Bishui River Dragon King in the sky. The dragon was fighting two great generals of the Demon Suppression Bureau, Chen Jianqiu and Zhang Han, yet he wasn’t at a disadvantage. In fact, he even seemed to have a slight upper hand.

’The further one progresses in cultivation, the more worlds apart each realm becomes!’

’If the Bishui River Dragon King were to break through to the Myriad Phenomena Realm, his power would become terrifyingly, unimaginably strong.’

’A Primordial Spirit Realm Dragon Pearl wouldn’t just be a simple breakthrough for him, either.’

’His combat strength would become absolutely monstrous.’

’Even though he had broken through to the Qi Sea Realm, the Tier Three Insect Swarm Nest was still gestating. The swarm’s overall strength had yet to undergo a qualitative leap; they would be no match for a foe like that.’

”A ten-thousand-year lifespan for the Primordial Spirit Realm applies to human cultivators. For a long-lived species like the Dragon Race, fifty thousand years isn’t necessarily enough to wear one down to nothing.

And that Evil Dragon was no ordinary member of the Dragon Race!

If that Evil Dragon isn’t dead, then the trouble will be even greater. It devoured millions of people back then, and Great Wei had to pay a heavy price to finally seal it.

Once it escapes...”

”Things like the Demon Suppression Cave are top-secret. To prevent villains from causing trouble, all information about them is locked down as tightly as possible.

The Demon Suppression Bureau secretly guarded this place for over a thousand years, doing everything in its power to keep it hidden.

It’s rumored that there were once many such places.

Some were worn away by the passage of time.

But others still remain, and should their seals break, the consequences are endless.”

Qin Yu’s expression turned completely grim. Behind him, Qin Wenyuan and the others all wore ugly expressions as well.

If this Demon Suppression Cave is opened...

Whether the Evil Dragon sealed within is dead or not, it will be an earth-shattering catastrophe!

Cyan Peak County was only a thousand li from Bishui City; there would be no escape.

”If we want to stop this, the only way is to join forces and shatter this Blood Sea Array. We absolutely cannot allow it to open the Demon Suppression Cave. Young Friend Qin, can your Qin Family’s War Beasts perform that attack one more time?”

As he spoke, Wan Yongchang looked toward the Heaven-Burning Fire Crows, which had suffered grievous losses against the Flood Dragon Dao Soldiers, leaving just over a thousand of them. If they could just manage another Solar Flare in coordination with their own attacks...

...they still had a good chance of breaking the Grand Array beneath the water.

”I can’t. Even at their peak, the Heaven-Burning Fire Crows can only launch three volleys of an attack at that level.

They already attacked twice in a row, and they’ve been fighting nonstop since.

Besides, the array is underwater. Even if they could do it, the attack’s power would be significantly diminished.”

Qin Yu shook his head.

’The Insect Swarm wasn’t omnipotent. How could there be no cost for beings at the Qi and Blood Realm to unleash an attack comparable to a full-powered strike from a Qi Sea Realm expert?’

’Even a specialized bombardment unit like the Heaven-Burning Fire Crow could only carry a finite amount of Energy.’

’Not unless they could return to the nest to recharge.’

’But there was no way there would be enough time for that.’

”Then we’re in big trouble!”

Wan Yongchang’s face was grim as he looked down at the aquatic Demon Fiends, which had completely lost themselves to a frenzy and were viciously fighting the Insect Swarm.

The flesh and blood of the fallen, whether from the Insect Swarm or the Demon Fiends, was being rapidly devoured and converted into energy for the array.

”Not necessarily! I’ll have the Insect Swarm fall back and draw these crazed Demon Fiends away, then we can launch a coordinated attack!

We might just be able to break this array.

And even if we can’t break it, we can still cause a massive drain on its energy.

This Demon Suppression Cave can’t be that easy to open, can it?”

At Qin Yu’s command, the units of the Insect Swarm army battling the Demon Fiends began to cover each other as they retreated.

As expected, most of the frenzied Demon Fiends pursued them.

Even the Nine-Headed Flesh Golem roared as it swung its Chain Hammer and charged forward.

In their frenzied state, their combat power soared.

But for the Insect Swarm, a pack of mindless beasts was actually easier to deal with.

If it weren’t for the sudden appearance of the Demon Suppression Cave, the Insect Swarm could have eliminated them bit by bit.

It wouldn’t even have been impossible to evolve a batch of Qi Sea Realm insects from the endeavor.

Now that Qin Yu had broken through to the Qi Sea Realm, the shackles binding the Insect Swarm had been shattered.

”Naturally! Then let’s strike together and shatter it!”

Wan Yongchang took out a jet-black sphere, his expression pained. This was a life-saving treasure he owned, and its power was immense once unleashed.

Secret Patterns lit up all over Qin Yu’s body as Wind and Thunder Power intertwined around him. The surviving Thunder Rocs, Four-winged Black Thorn Eagles, and Heaven-Burning Fire Crows flew over.

The Microscopic Insect Nest on his chest cracked open.

SWOOSH! SWOOSH! SWOOSH!

An endless swarm of Thunder Blade Insects, Gale Blade Insects, and Flame Blade Insects shot out like a raging storm, diving directly into the water and creating a massive explosion on top of the Blood Sea Array.

”Hahaha, you can’t break my Blood Sea Array! Once I’ve opened this Demon Suppression Cave, every last one of you will die!”

Mo Yuzi’s heart tightened at the continuous bombardment.

But when he saw that the Blood Sea Array only rippled slightly, he couldn’t help but let out a maniacal laugh.

”Hmph!”

Wan Yongchang snorted, gritted his teeth, and hurled the black sphere in his hand with all his might.

The sphere traced an arc through the air, seemingly swallowing even light as it passed, radiating a terrifying pulse of destruction.

”Burst!”

The sphere landed precisely above the Blood Sea Array and exploded silently.

There was no earth-shattering bang, only the sudden appearance of a deep, ever-expanding black sphere that crazily devoured everything around it—the river water, the blood mist, and even the energy leaking from the array!

That was Wan Yongchang’s prized Profound Yin Devouring Thunder, a weapon of peerless power that specialized in breaking through all kinds of Energy Shields and arrays.

The light barrier of the Blood Sea Array distorted violently, groaning as if it were about to collapse, its light dimming at a rate visible to the naked eye.

The three-eyed statue at the array’s core trembled violently, and fine cracks even began to appear on its surface.

”Now!”

A sharp light flashed in Qin Yu’s eyes as he instantly mobilized the Power of Dominator.

”Wind and Thunder Slaughter!”

Twelve Flowing Light Flying Sabers shot out explosively.

The remaining Thunder Rocs, Four-winged Black Thorn Eagles, and Heaven-Burning Fire Crows in the sky all let out sharp cries. They no longer attacked separately, but gathered into a torrential flood.

Thunderbolts flashed, gales howled, and flames scorched the heavens!

Innumerable Blade Insects poured out like a flood from an open dam, forming a concentrated bombardment.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM—!!!

An unprecedented series of chain explosions blossomed at the bottom of the river.

The annihilation power of the Profound Yin Devouring Thunder, the Wind and Thunder Power of the Flowing Light Flying Sabers, the self-detonating power of countless Blade Insects... All these different yet equally violent types of energy stacked and erupted in the same small area.

CRACK!

A clear cracking sound rang out as countless spiderweb-like fissures spread across the Blood Sea’s light barrier.

”Cough... Hahaha... Don’t even think about it! Detonate!”

Mo Yuzi coughed up blood, letting out a wild laugh.

There was no despair in his eyes, only a flash of madness and glee.

At the center of the array, the three-eyed statue, which had turned blood-red after devouring so much fresh blood in a short time, suddenly exploded.

BANG!

But what burst out with that crisp sound wasn’t shrapnel, but a crimson light, condensed to an extreme, viscous as if it were tangible!

This bloody light poured into the Blood Sea Array.

It caused the crumbling Grand Array to stabilize once more. A portion of the bloody light even acted like a living viper, burrowing into the Bronze Altar below.

The Bronze Altar shook violently!

More than half of the runes on the altar’s surface were instantly extinguished. The few that remained flickered intermittently, like candles in the wind.

”ROAR—!!!”

An incomparably terrifying roar erupted from beneath the altar. The horrific sound wave, mixed with solidified, dark-red Evil Qi, blasted out in a ring with the altar at its epicenter!

「Almost simultaneously.」

In the far distance, a thousand-zhang-long Thunderbolt Flying Ship appeared as if via Instant Teleportation, flying over with unstoppable might amidst a sky full of thunder.

”The Celestial Patrol Army! They’re finally here!”
