Ruling Martial World by Infinite Insect Swarms

Chapter 172: Chapter 164: Mimic Fungal Mat Defense System, Emergence of the Leviathan

No one knew that the Wilderness Mountain Range, stretching for thousands of miles, had become a living thing!

Literally, a living organism!

Once the Mimic Fungal Mat, with dozens of Insect Nests as its core and Fungal Mat Tumors as its nodes, had expanded to completely cover the mountain range and disguise itself as ordinary flora, any conventional method of infiltration became impossible.

Every blade of grass, every tree, and even the very ground of the Wilderness Mountain Range had become a part of the Insect Swarm’s body. To step on it was to step on the Swarm itself.

Moreover, nearly ninety-nine percent of the wildlife in the Wilderness Mountain Range—the fish, insects, birds, and beasts—were camouflaged units birthed by the Insect Swarm, frolicking and hunting within it.

It was all a disguise!

Even the pollen, spores, and microscopic lifeforms drifting in the air could be part of the Insect Swarm.

Even without touching the ground, anyone who came into contact with this pollen or these spores would be detected by the Swarm.

Even if one were completely invisible, they would still be exposed as long as they caused the slightest abnormal air current!

This was also why the number of the Insect Swarm’s combat units had not increased too quickly.

Qin Yu had expended enormous effort to turn the Wilderness Mountain Range, including the thousand-li warning zone around Cyan Peak County, into the Insect Swarm’s main base.

Now, this foresight was beginning to pay off.

When the tendrils of the Cyan Profound Sect, the Zhang Family, and even the Blood Demon Sect stealthily reached for the Wilderness Mountain Range and Cyan Peak County, the Insect Swarm detected and pinpointed them instantly.

One after another, small teams from the Insect Swarm set out.

Some were Thunder Rocs, some were Rapid Insects, and others were Needle-spine Crawlers lurking underground.

An unmarked Flying Ship that had landed stealthily met with a devastating disaster the moment it touched down.

A Needle-spine Crawler, moving deep within the earth, suddenly shot skyward. Like a striking Poison Dragon, it instantly pierced through the bottom of the Flying Ship, its sharp hook-like body punching straight through the entire vessel.

At the same time, hundreds of Thunder Rocs that had long been circling in the clouds high above dove down.

Amidst a storm of thunder and lightning.

They tore the Flying Ship’s hull, rudder, and power core to shreds as if dismantling a toy.

A Cultivator whose Cultivation was at the Middle Stage of the Qi Sea Realm rushed out of the ship in absolute terror, only to be met by a bolt of lightning that carried a powerful paralyzing effect!

A Thunder and Lightning Joint Attack from Qi Sea Realm Thunder Rocs!

In an instant, he was overwhelmed.

As for the twenty-some fully armed, elite Qi and Blood Realm Martial Artists, they were instantly incinerated into charcoal by the spreading thunderbolts.

Only the Qi Sea Realm Cultivator, on the brink of death, was left unconscious by the precisely controlled thunderbolts.

A Thunder Roc carried him away toward Snake Valley.

The Flying Ship, meanwhile, was enveloped by the Mimic Fungal Mat and dragged deep underground by the Needle-spine Crawler. The twenty-some corpses were digested by the Fungal Mat almost immediately.

The entire battle lasted less than a minute.

The ravaged ground returned to its original state, with even the destroyed plants and flowers being restored by the Mimic Fungal Mat. Only the faint scent of blood proved that a battle had once taken place here.

When a light breeze blew past, even the smell of blood vanished completely.

This was only the beginning.

Outside Cyan Peak County, an elite team from the Zhang Family, disguised as caravan guards, was attempting to approach the county via the main road. As they rested in a dense forest about a hundred li from the county seat, the soft fallen leaves beneath their feet suddenly gave way.

From the cavern below, dozens of Rapid Insects and cockroaches burst out, instantly slaughtering more than half of them.

The few survivors were then reaped by bone spikes fired from a distance.

Others disguised themselves as local hunters entering the mountains for a hunt, thinking they were moving undetected. They had no idea that their every move was being watched by Insect Race units mimicked as trees, birds, and beasts.

The moment they stepped into the forest, they were sliced in half by Blade Insects spat out by a Four-winged Black Thorn Eagle diving from the sky.

Surprisingly, this person did not die immediately.

Instead, he began to mutate, his internal organs squirming as they tried to stitch themselves back together.

”The Blood Demon Sect?”

”Things are really getting lively!”

Qin Yu sat cross-legged in the Insect Nest’s Cultivation Room. His consciousness was like a god high in the clouds, looking down upon the countless points of light and streams of information fed back by the network.

The appearance, movement, and elimination of every single intruder were displayed with perfect clarity.

In just one day, dozens of teams had attempted to enter Cyan Peak County and the Wilderness Mountain Range from all directions and under various guises.

The one who got closest was captured on the spot as he descended from the sky thirty li outside of Cyan Peak County.

Among these spies, the strongest was only at the Qi Sea Realm.

In the past, the Insect Swarm would have struggled against the Qi Sea Realm. But ever since breaking through to Tier Three, allowing it to mass-produce Qi Sea Realm units, it could now kill them instantly.

Take the Thunder Rocs, for example.

Initially, limited by the range of their thunderbolt attacks and their own physical constraints, the limit was a joint attack from a hundred of them.

But now, having reached the Qi Sea Realm, they could manipulate the Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi.

Their innate ability to control thunderbolts was also greatly enhanced, allowing them to easily attack targets thousands of meters away. It was now entirely possible to coordinate a joint attack from over a thousand Thunder Rocs.

A joint attack from a thousand Qi Sea Realm Thunder Rocs.

What kind of terrifying power was that?

A change in quantity led to a change in quality.

Even a Primordial Mansion Realm expert could be struck dead!

’Interesting. The Cyan Profound Sect, the Zhang Family, the Su Family, and the Blood Demon Sect have all sent elite teams. And a dozen other powers, like the Golden Wind Pavilion, the Pai Sect, and so on... they’re all very interested in me, aren’t they?’

Qin Yu looked at the ”captives” being held in the interrogation points, and the corner of his mouth curled into a cold smile.
