Chapter 24 Is This Extortion?

Lin Zifeng was actually happy to enjoy it.

Being in charge felt pretty addictive, which was no wonder why Nangong Bing acted so high and mighty.

It seemed like being a CEO for too long made him think he was the boss.

“Hiss!”

Lin Zifeng took a sharp inhale and praised, “Good cigarette!

Good cigarette!

These are really nice!”

“I wonder how much these cigarettes cost?”

Lin Zifeng asked the tough-looking man with a smile.

“Not expensive!

Twenty yuan a pack.”

“Really nice, but it’s a pity I don’t have any money on me!

I really like smoking these, but I can’t afford them!” Lin Zifeng said with an odd tone laden with implication,”Do you think that’s pretty sad?”

Then he turned his head to cry to the tough-looking man.

“This…” The tough-looking man suddenly felt a chill inside.

How was he supposed to answer that?

After what had been said, it was clearly a form of covert extortion.

No matter how the tough-looking man responded, he probably had to pay up.

“Big…

big brother!

How could you be sad?

Haha”

“Now I’m so poor I can’t even afford a meal, isn’t that sad?”

“This…”

The five men were speechless, none wanting to be the first to answer Lin Zifeng’s peculiar question.

“How about?

You guys lend some money to big brother to buy some cigarettes?” Lin Zifeng put on an innocent, harmless expression, but as soon as he spoke, all five men shivered.

Nobody answered.

“You call me ‘big brother’ over and over, but now that big brother is so poor he can’t even afford a meal or a smoke, was all that ‘big brother’ talk in vain?

Or are you afraid that big brother will extort you?”

As Lin Zifeng spoke, his tone gradually turned colder, making the five guys turn resolute.

“Since big brother has spoken, let’s all chip in and buy him some cigarettes.”

At this moment, the tough-looking man felt like crying.

He shoved his hands in his pockets and hesitated to pull them out.

After all, this mess started because of him.

Even if they all gave money now, he might have to foot the bill later, since he caused this trouble and couldn’t let his brothers pay!

Plus, blood is thicker than water, but where has loving money ever fallen behind?

Who would quarrel with money after being full?

Watching the tough-looking man with his aggrieved, almost woman-like expression, Lin Zifeng felt a secret joy.

When you were cheating, did you ever think about the consequences?

After so many years, you probably treated my family’s small house like a free inn, right?

Now it seems right to recoup some rent.

With no choice left, the tough-looking man and the other four begrudgingly gathered some cash and handed it to Lin Zifeng.

“Big brother, do you think this is enough?”

Although his face was all smiles, like a servile servant, inside he had already cursed Lin Zifeng out.

The other four were also secretly suffering, but since Lin Zifeng was pretending to be a pig to eat a tiger, who dared to step up?

So, the group could only stew in their anger.

“Haha, not bad, not bad, this money is enough to buy cigarettes.” Lin Zifeng counted the bills, but then said, “But big brother hasn’t had dinner yet.

How about?

You guys treat me?”

“…”

The five men gave each other looks, their faces turning red from their foreheads to their necks.

They had already given him cigarette money, and now he even wanted meal money?

This man was shameless!

It turned out they had messed with the King of Hell.

The tough-looking man’s face had turned livid with rage, and his neck was bulging.

But, they couldn’t afford to provoke Lin Zifeng, the Bodhisattva, now.

Even if they wanted to leave now, who knows how Lin Zifeng might retaliate against him and his brothers?

It seemed they had no choice but to pay to avoid disaster.

Five men huddled together once more, discussing things amongst themselves, managing to gather some more money.

It was still the fierce man who handed it over to Lin Zifeng.

“Big… big brother!

Is this enough now?

There shouldn’t be a problem tonight, right?

Or should I and my buddies leave first?”

The fierce man practically begged Lin Zifeng.

Without Lin Zifeng speaking up, he truly didn’t have the guts to leave.

“Well…?” Lin Zifeng scratched his ear, pretending to consider, which was simply infuriating and annoying to watch.

But people, after all, aren’t fools, even if you’re tough, there will always be those who aren’t afraid to die, especially under such circumstances.

Instantly, someone with anger on their face was about to step forward and scold him fiercely.

However, Lin Zifeng had anticipated all of this in advance.

Lin Zifeng mysteriously produced a small wood splinter in his hand and then, while the five men were unaware, he casually threw it, and the splinter flew at an indiscernible speed directly into the mouth of the guy about to step forward.

Instantly, the guy stopped in his tracks.

Because the splinter cleverly lodged between his teeth!

That big man was instantly baffled.

The normally explosive man suddenly felt a chill down his spine.

Cold sweat on his forehead gradually slid down like large raindrops.

Of course!

Only the two of them knew about this; the rest had no idea about Lin Zifeng’s small movement.

“Big brother… Could we possibly…?” The fierce man was genuinely close to crying now.

Today, for his own foolish matter, even his brothers had been dragged in, not only losing money but also losing much face; if they couldn’t settle it now, how would he face his brothers later?

Moreover, his four brothers were already giving him deadly looks, making the fierce man lose all his dignity.

“Hmm!

Not bad, it looks like we’ve got the dinner money sorted for tonight.

Let’s leave it at that then.

Thanks for your generosity!

Let’s hang out more when we’re free!” Lin Zifeng said with a faux-cheerful smirk, “But let’s not meet here again; if there’s a next time, heh, you know what I mean.”

Lin Zifeng patted the fierce man’s shoulder, displaying a show of goodwill.

After speaking, he walked away dusting off his butt.

What the heck!

Clearly, you were the one forcefully extorting, and yet you speak of our generosity?

You sure have a way with words!

So my night’s wage went down the drain, and we should hang out more?

Hang your nonsense.

I never want to see that disaster of yours again!

After Lin Zifeng left, the fierce man patted his empty pockets, his dark, rough face extremely twisted, his heart incredibly frustrated!

“Damn it!

Should we get some people and fix him up?”

Watching Lin Zifeng leave, some immediately showed eagerness, grumbling with resignation.

“Damn!

This guy is too vicious, making me lose a month’s wage.

If I don’t get someone to beat him into a pig’s face, I won’t be called Wang anymore!

Damn!”

One burly man cursed angrily.

Suddenly, this provoked disdain from the other four men.

“Looks like we’re just going to have to swallow the loss tonight.” The most hot-tempered among the five men said with a defeated sigh.

“Eh!

Liu Zi, this doesn’t sound like you!

With your temper, why do I feel something’s off today?”

“You idiots!

Didn’t you see that he’s a fierce tiger under the guise of a lamb?

A guy who can crush a solid stick into pieces—do you think we can afford to provoke him?

I actually wanted to make a move just now, you know what happened?”

“What happened?”

The others asked.

“That guy simply threw a wood splinter that got stuck in my mouth!

I was so scared I almost wet my pants, do you think we can find anyone to take him down?” The big man ranted while widening his eyes for emphasis.

His vivid description alarmed everyone.

Unfortunately for the fierce man, at this moment, he sat on the ground, murmuring to himself, “It’s over, it’s over!

I was just thinking about finding some guys to kill that son of a bitch to get our money back, but hearing what you said, it’s over, our two months’ wages have been screwed by that damn brat.

And now, we can’t even let out a fart.”

…

In the night, Lin Zifeng walked cautiously on the cold streets, it was just after nine o’clock in the evening, and for this small rural village, the streets are almost ghostly after nine.

Lin Zifeng walked in the night with a cold expression, feeling no excitement about the five thousand yuan he just acquired.

Instead, he revealed his strength just then by flicking the wood splinter into the big man’s mouth, actually to prevent them from seeking revenge later.

He wasn’t worried for himself but feared they would trouble Aunt Li, so Lin Zifeng had no choice but to use a little trick in the end.

At this time, the night wasn’t too late, Lin Zifeng leisurely lit a cigarette, his face showing a sense of decay as he walked the streets, wanting to see how Liu Lao Wu, whom he hadn’t seen for five years, was doing…
