After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 1338: Chapter 1342: That Kind of Look...

Shen Yizhou on the other end of the phone fell silent.

As a doctor, he was well aware that any surgery carries risks, and as a doctor, he can only minimize and control them; no one can guarantee absolute safety.

After a long while.

He finally spoke again, ”I need to think carefully and discuss response plans with my mentor.”

”Thank you, Yizhou!” Leng Zimo’s tone turned gentle, ”The day after tomorrow, Saturday, you and Tong Ya come to the farm, I’ll barbeque for you.”

”Alright!” Shen Yizhou agreed with some difficulty.

After hanging up the phone, Leng Zimo immediately turned on the computer and started working. Though the work didn’t need to be completed today, he carefully went through the files, one by one, for no other reason than wanting to finish everything to wholeheartedly accompany her.

In the morning, the headache struck once more.

Swallowing a painkiller, Leng Zimo sat in the chair with closed eyes for a long while before opening them again.

Watching the faint light outside the window, he stood up and entered the bedroom, coming to the side of her bed.

Now, for him, being able to see her wake up every morning was already a great happiness and satisfaction.

Luo Xiaoqian woke from her sleep, the first thing she saw upon opening her eyes was Leng Zimo’s smiling face.

”Good morning, sweetheart!” He bent down to give her a good morning kiss, smiling as he tidied her messy hair, ”What would you like to eat, Chinese or Western breakfast? I’ll make it for you.”

Luo Xiaoqian grasped his palm and noticed the shirt on him, ”You didn’t sleep all night?!”

”Why would I? I just woke up earlier and changed my shirt ahead of time.” Leng Zimo winked at her playfully, ”You know, men tend to be a bit more alert in the mornings!”

Afraid she might notice something unusual, Leng Zimo ruffled her hair, stood up, ”Alright, we’ll have chicken soup wontons today, and a side of fruit and vegetable platter.”

Luo Xiaoqian watched his back, noticing the wrinkles on his shirt, she immediately frowned.

Leng Zimo always has a bit of OCD, he changes his shirt at least once a day. She remembered clearly, last night he wore this shirt. Although he has many shirts of the same color, wearing a wrinkled shirt was simply impossible.

The only explanation was, he hadn’t slept all night.

Why was that?!

Nestled in the blanket, Luo Xiaoqian recalled last night’s events, becoming increasingly suspicious.

Something must have happened, something must have!

Throwing off the quilt, she grabbed a light jacket to drape over herself, got up and went downstairs to the kitchen.

In the kitchen, Leng Zimo was skillfully preparing breakfast for her, noticing her, he smiled to her sideways, then continued with the breakfast preparation.

During this time, he looked at her several times, as she stood by the entrance of the kitchen. His gaze lingered and then withdrew with a smile, continuing to make wontons.

This wasn’t like Leng Zimo.

He had always been very focused when doing anything, and each time he looked at her, that gaze, that gaze... was like he feared he would never see her again.

Though he was smiling, his eyes were filled with sorrow, that gaze... made her heart inexplicably ache along with it.

”Go wait in the dining room, there’s the smell of oil fumes here.” Leng Zimo softly suggested to her.
