Medical Sage

Seeing this, the flight attendant known as Qing Lan clenched her fists, her body trembling with a sense of injustice. She hadn’t expected things to develop this way. It was as if it were really her fault; everyone was accusing her, demanding she apologize, and the South Koreans were even threatening to call the police. Yet it clearly wasn’t her fault at all.

But she was still both angry and scared! She knew that whenever an incident involved foreigners—especially influential people from developed countries—the government was prone to punishing its own citizens if things escalated.

”Call the police? Why don’t you give it a try? I’d like to see whether our Huaxia police will side with you Korean bastards or with their own people. Hey, you lot, get one thing straight: this is Huaxia’s turf. Do you really think you’re so special, daring to swagger around and show off in our country?” However, just then, a cold, domineering voice suddenly rang out. A young man in his twenties stood up from his seat, looked at the group of South Koreans, and spoke with a detached air.

This young man was Chen Fei.

Originally, he hadn’t planned on stooping to the level of these so-called ’guests’ from South Korea, but these punks were really asking for it. Did they really think they were hot stuff? Daring to act so high and mighty on Huaxia soil? And as for their so-called Korean Medicine… it was nothing but scraps left behind by our Huaxia ancestors. Their own ancestors picked it up like some priceless treasure, not realizing it was merely surface-level knowledge, completely unworthy of his, Chen Fei’s, notice. What a bunch of arrogant clowns.

”HMPH!”

With this thought, Chen Fei snorted coldly. His gaze swept over to the gloomy-faced Huang Kaisheng as he said casually, ”I have to ask, are those Korean punks your daddies? Do you know why foreigners dare to be so arrogant on Huaxia turf? Why the People of Huaxia have to suffer such indignities? It’s because there are too many bootlickers like you.”

”What did you say?! How dare you insult me! Believe me, I’ll...” Huang Kaisheng erupted in fury. He couldn’t believe some wet-behind-the-ears brat would dare to be so insolent and curse him out.

”Well said.”

Just then, a resonant voice cut him off. Liu Chudong, who was sitting next to Chen Fei, also stood up. He looked at Huang Kaisheng with contempt and said, ”If you want to suck up to your Korean parents, don’t do it in public. It’s disgusting. As for the rest of you—you want an apology? Fine. There should be security cameras on this plane, right? Let’s review the footage and let the facts speak. We’ll see if it’s you ill-bred Korean punks who were making a ruckus, or if it was our beautiful, upstanding flight attendant who slandered and disrespected you. You’d better hope we don’t catch you spouting any more nonsense. Otherwise, I don’t give a damn who you are!”

No one expected Liu Chudong to speak with such a commanding presence. The aura he exuded, especially during the latter half of his speech, stunned everyone present, making them feel as if they were being suppressed. Sensing this power, Chen Fei couldn’t help but glance sideways at him, a thoughtful expression in his eyes.

”You... you two! Are you looking to die? Do you have any idea who I am? Do you know who Doctor Song Jinhu is? He’s the recipient of the Republic of Korea’s highest award for medical achievement! Are you trying to cause an international incident? Can you even bear that responsibility?” Huang Kaisheng was stunned that two people had stood up to condemn and mock him in such a short time. He felt like his lungs were about to explode from rage as he roared, his face dark.

What a bunch of ignorant, fearless street thugs! Do they have any idea who Doctor Song Jinhu is? Even his uncle, a director in the provincial health department, would have to be deferential and wouldn’t dare speak a harsh word to him! And now, two wet-behind-the-ears brats have the audacity to be this arrogant and offend Mr. Song? They’re brainless! Courting death!

”You... you two! What is this attitude? Do you realize we’re from South Korea? Do you know that our Mr. Song is the recipient of the Republic of Korea’s highest award for medical achievement? Even the leaders of your Jiangnan Provincial Health Department wouldn’t dare speak to Mr. Song like this!” the glasses-wearing Korean woman shrieked. Seeing that the Huaxia flight attendant suddenly had two ’accomplices’ whose words and attitude were so brazen, her face turned ashen with fury.

”That’s because he’s a moron. Don’t lump us in with a moron,” Chen Fei retorted. His attitude was even more aggressive and arrogant than she could have imagined. He had just called a senior official from the Provincial Health Department a moron. Instantly, the expressions of everyone present changed. Huang Kaisheng, in particular, was so angry he was grinding his teeth.

”Insolent! Do you have any idea what you’re saying? This is outrageous! With those words alone, if the leaders of the Provincial Health Department find out, I guarantee you’ll end up in prison!” Huang Kaisheng roared, his face grim. He was certain that remark was aimed at his uncle, which was utterly infuriating.

”Is that so? I wasn’t aware the leaders of the Provincial Health Department had that much power,” Chen Fei scoffed. ”Fine, call the police. Let them handle this. We’ll get off the plane.” Arrest him? He could keep dreaming.

”You... you... How dare you disrespect us South Koreans! Fine! Call the police! We must call the police!” Seeing Chen Fei’s assertive attitude, the woman in glasses felt a flicker of unease. A moment later, however, a smug, superior expression appeared on her face as her arrogance returned. She simply refused to believe the Huaxia police would dare to offend distinguished foreign guests like them! They would definitely take their side!

”Fine, let’s call the police then,” Chen Fei said, pulling out his phone to do just that.

”Are you insane?!” The next moment, Huang Kaisheng strode over and grabbed Chen Fei, his expression incredibly grim. ”Do you have any idea who they are? They’re the Korean Medicine representatives for the Seventh Traditional Medicine Conference in Capital City! It starts tomorrow! If you call the police and it affects the conference, do you realize the damage it will do to the international reputation of our Traditional Medicine Community? Is that a responsibility you can bear?”

At his words, the expressions of many people in the cabin changed. Offending foreign guests was one thing; at worst, you’d get a slap on the wrist and it would be over. But if the matter involved so-called international standing, reputation, and image, the consequences would be severe. Huaxia had always prioritized ”face,” regardless of who was right or wrong, or what the reasons were. The government itself likely wouldn’t tolerate such an incident.

When the woman in glasses heard Huang Kaisheng bring this up, her eyes lit up. An arrogant, superior expression returned to her face as she looked down at Chen Fei and sneered, ”Young man, you should think about what you’re capable of before you try to be a hero. Our Doctor Song is the best Korean Medicine practitioner in the Republic of Korea. It makes no difference to us whether we attend this conference your Huaxia is hosting. If it weren’t for the earnest invitation from your Traditional Medicine Association of Huaxia...”

The Seventh Traditional Medicine Conference in Capital City was a highly influential and prestigious international event. If Doctor Song, the most formidable figure in Korean Medicine, were to suddenly withdraw, it would undoubtedly diminish the conference’s prestige and spark international suspicion and debate. The fallout would be immense. Could a wet-behind-the-ears kid like this possibly bear that responsibility? Why didn’t I think of such a brilliant tactic sooner?

Her words infuriated the other passengers. She made it sound as if the Traditional Medicine Association of Huaxia had begged the South Korean doctors to attend, and they were only reluctantly and condescendingly gracing the conference with their presence.

Upon hearing this, a cold glint flashed in Chen Fei’s eyes. Then, he said coolly, ”In that case, why don’t you few... just skip this year’s Traditional Medicine Conference altogether?”

BOOM!

The Korean woman’s expression froze. The flight attendant, Huang Kaisheng, and all the other passengers were similarly dumbstruck and incredulous. They couldn’t believe such an audacious statement could come from a wet-behind-the-ears kid in his early twenties. ’Just skip this year’s Traditional Medicine Conference altogether!?’ Who did he think he was? What status gave him the right to say something like that?

”You, you, you...” Huang Kaisheng’s expression changed instantly. He grabbed Chen Fei’s shirt and raged, ”Are you damn crazy? Who the hell do you think you are? What gives you the right to say that? Don’t you know the Traditional Medicine Conference is a major international event for the Traditional Medicine Community of Huaxia? If Doctor Song, the recipient of Korean Medicine’s highest honor, suddenly pulls out, it will cause a chain reaction! It might even provoke a boycott from every doctor in South Korea! How do you think the international community will see our Traditional Medicine Community of Huaxia then? Do you have any idea how much that will damage our reputation?”

At this point, he couldn’t even be bothered to speak to a ’deranged’ person like Chen Fei anymore. He turned frantically to the woman in glasses and said pleadingly, ”Ma’am, please don’t listen to him. He’s just a lunatic! He has no authority to speak for the Traditional Medicine Community of Huaxia. Please, don’t be angry.” The woman was younger than him, yet he used the respectful ’Ma’am,’ which clearly showed just how highly he regarded his ’Korean patrons.’

”What do you mean, ’don’t be angry’?! This is utterly outrageous! Do you really think our great Korean Medicine is desperate to attend this pathetic conference of yours in Huaxia? I’m telling you, say what you just said again if you have the guts! You think I won’t translate it for Mr. Song?” the woman in glasses threatened, her expression turning sour as she glared arrogantly at Chen Fei.
