”Someone is trying to capture my mother, right now.” At this moment, Chen Fei’s face was covered with a terrifying coldness. The raw murderous intent in his eyes surged forth, and his voice was as icy as shards of ice striking the ground.

Ever since he was a child, the person he loved most was his mother; she was his absolute Achilles’ heel. But now, someone actually dared to target her? Instantly, the killing aura emanating from his eyes and his entire body became even more terrifying. It was so intense that even Wang Dashan, an Innate Early Stage Ancient Martial Artist, was badly startled, a chill rushing from the soles of his feet to the crown of his head.

”What did you say!?” Chief Luo Yuanzhi and Director Wang exchanged a look of shock and panic.

They both knew Chen Fei came from a single-parent family and was raised solely by his mother. The depth of their bond was indescribable, yet now, this had happened. Someone dared to lay a hand on this young patriarch’s mother. They were shaken to the core and finally understood why the young man had suddenly become so agitated. His mother was in trouble.

Damn it all, someone actually dares to capture Chen Fei’s mother? This is outrageous! This is a catastrophe of epic proportions!

”Little Chen, don’t panic,” Chief Luo advised immediately. ”First, make a call and get those people to stop. Where is this happening? In Northern Mountain?”

He wasn’t worried about Chen Fei’s mother being in any real danger. One phone call from them and those shortsighted fools would release her immediately. What he truly feared was Chen Fei losing his cool. If this young patriarch acted impulsively in a rage, it would be a massive problem. It might even alarm the big shots in the Capital City.

After all, even a fearsome dark power like Tiger Leopard Hall had been annihilated by this young patriarch, utterly eradicated from existence. It was clear just how terrifying such a person could be. And now, his untouchable scale had been provoked by a bunch of idiots.

Chen Fei, however, said nothing. His face only grew more sullen as he took out his phone and dialed the number of Huang Tao, the current mayor of Northern Mountain City. Chengyang County was under Northern Mountain City’s jurisdiction, so Mayor Huang was one of the people who could resolve this the fastest.

「Meanwhile, in the mayor’s office at the Northern Mountain City Government Building.」

Huang Tao was perusing a report when, suddenly, his rarely used personal phone began to ring.

Surprise flashed across Huang Tao’s eyes. He hastily set the report down and picked up the private cell phone, one whose number very few people knew. Seeing the caller ID, his expression grew serious. The display clearly showed the two words: ’Mr. Chen’.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Huang Tao pressed the answer button and spoke loudly, ”Mr. Chen, it’s been a long time! How have you been?”

”Not good,” came Chen Fei’s ice-cold voice from the other end. ”My mother is about to be arrested by Wang Dazhi, the Deputy Director of the Xicheng Police Station in Chengyang County. I don’t care what methods you use, but get them to release her within one minute. I’m heading there now. That’s all.”

The line went dead.

”What? Chen...” Huang Tao was stunned for a moment, then his face went pale with terror. By then, Chen Fei had already hung up.

Holding his phone, Mayor Huang Tao felt cold sweat begin to bead on his forehead. It had been long enough that he was crystal clear on who Chen Fei was. If not for absolute fury, why would he act so out of character?

He had known for a long time that Chen Fei came from a single-parent family, raised by his mother through great hardship, and that their bond was incredibly deep. But now... his mother was about to be arrested?

Even a man of his stature couldn’t help but curse internally. Fuck! His mother is being arrested?

He might not have known the full extent of Chen Fei’s capabilities, but what he did know was terrifying enough: a superhuman Ancient Martial Artist, the nominal Chief Instructor of the Flying Leopard unit, the savior of Old Master Xuu from the Capital City... When a person like that became enraged, it was no longer a personal matter. It would absolutely, without a doubt, threaten the stability of the nation.

Realizing he had ’only one minute,’ Huang Tao’s face went slack with panic. He grabbed his private phone and hastily dialed Zhu Qianye, the Director of the Northern Mountain City Public Security Bureau.

”Hello, Director Zhu is in a meeting. May I ask who’s calling?” Huang Tao got through, but it wasn’t Zhu Qianye who answered.

”This is Huang Tao. Now! Immediately! Tell Zhu Qianye to get his ass over here and take this call!” Huang Tao was in such turmoil that his words came out harsh.

”Huang... You’re Mayor Huang! Uh, please wait, I’ll inform the director to take the call right away!” The person on the other end stammered, terrified to realize the call was from the city’s current mayor.

”Hurry up!” was Huang Tao’s urgent, cold command.

Not long after, Zhu Qianye interrupted a critically important bureau meeting. With a grave face, he stepped out of the conference room with his phone. ”Old Huang, what’s up—”

”Old Zhu, you need to call Wang Dazhi at the Xicheng Police Station in Chengyang County right now. He’s arrested Mr. Chen’s mother!” Huang Tao had no time to beat around the bush, barking the words with icy urgency.

”Chengyang... What did you say!? He arrested Mr. Chen’s mother?” Zhu Qianye didn’t grasp it at first, but a second later, his face turned ashen. His hands were shaking so violently he almost dropped his phone. He trembled, ”Old... Old Huang, you don’t mean... *that* Mr. Chen, do you?”

”Who else could I be talking about? I don’t have time to waste with you! Make the call, then get your men over there immediately! Hurry!” Huang Tao shouted, his face grim. Damn it, now is not the time to dither and waste time.

”Yes, yes, yes... I’ll call right now, immediately.” Hearing Huang Tao, Zhu Qianye finally snapped to the reality of how serious this was. After all, this was *Mr. Chen*.

Despite the mild twenty-three or twenty-four-degree weather, he was suddenly drenched in a cold sweat. He hung up on Huang Tao.

”Who here has the number for Wang Dazhi at the Xicheng Police Station in Chengyang County? Quickly! Does anyone know it? Speak up!” He burst back into the conference room, panicking and yelling at the group of assembled Public Security Bureau leaders. They all stared, stunned, wondering what could have happened during a single phone call to make Director Zhu act like this.

”I do, Director. I have his number.” Despite their shock, someone quickly raised his hand and provided the phone number for the Deputy Director of the Xicheng Police Station in Chengyang County, Wang Dazhi.

Zhu Qianye then bypassed Wang Ye, the Director of the Chengyang County Public Security Bureau, and dialed Deputy Director Wang Dazhi of the Xicheng Police Station directly.

「Meanwhile, in Chengyang County, within a certain residential complex.」

”You...” Chen Weishan felt his lungs were about to explode with rage. He had expected the wretched woman, Lin Ling, to frantically call her son and beg Old Master Xuu for help. Instead, she had the gall to speak to him like that. It was an insult! That wretched woman dared to look down on him, Chen Weishan, and ignore his words! It was utterly preposterous.

”What about me? Didn’t you want me to call my son? Well, I’ve satisfied you. Let’s hope you can bear the consequences,” Lin Ling sneered after hanging up.

”You damn bitch... I’ll kill you!” Chen Weishan couldn’t contain his fury and swung a slap at Lin Ling.

But how could a good-for-nothing like him be a match for Lin Ling?

BANG!

A muffled thud was heard, followed by the blur of a swift kick. A piercing scream rang out as Chen Weishan was sent flying, tumbling to the ground. He rolled several times before his face planted in the grass, filling his mouth with mud like a dog eating shit.

”Worthless,” Lin Ling said with disdain, not even bothering to give him a second glance.

”You... you... you dare hit someone right in front of me?” the tall, slim Deputy Director Wang Dazhi said, his face stern. His voice, however, had lost its earlier confidence and now carried a distinct note of panic.

After all, the woman had made that phone call right in front of them, and her calm, assertive tone was enough to unnerve anyone. Not to mention, this woman knew full well that ”Leader Chen” was a big shot from the Public Security Bureau of the Capital City, yet she showed no fear. On the contrary, she dared to attack someone. What gave her the confidence to be so arrogant and calm?

Could it be... Wang Dazhi’s body shivered involuntarily, his gaze flickering with trepidation.

DING! DING! DING!

Just then, something even more terrifying happened. His phone began to ring, causing his heart to pound.

His eyes darted nervously toward Lin Ling’s calm expression as he pulled out his phone with trembling hands. When he saw the call was from an internal number at the City Public Security Bureau, his face turned even paler. He hesitated for a long moment before finally answering.

”Is this Wang Dazhi of the Xicheng Police Station in Chengyang County?” The moment the call connected, an exceptionally angry and authoritative voice roared from the earpiece.

”I-I am. May I ask who this is?” Wang Dazhi stuttered, a shiver running through him.

”This is Zhu Qianye from the City Public Security Bureau!” the voice boomed again, its anger and authority making Deputy Director Wang Dazhi freeze completely.

The Director of the City Public Security Bureau, Zhu Qianye!? Could it be...

Cold sweat instantly beaded on Deputy Director Wang Dazhi’s forehead, and his legs felt as if they’d turned to jelly.

”Director-Director Zhu, hello! I-I’m Wang Dazhi from the Xicheng Police Station in Chengyang County! Please give your instructions, sir!” He could never have imagined receiving a call from Director Zhu Qianye himself, the absolute top boss of the entire Northern Mountain City public security system. The shock sent a shiver down his spine, and a powerful sense of foreboding washed over him.
