Medical Sage

”Who am I? Didn’t you come to Jiangnan just to find me? What, you don’t even know what I look like?” Chen Fei said, sitting in a chair with one leg crossed over the other. As he listened to Chen Weishan’s fearful, trembling voice, his eyes, fixed on the man, filled with icy coldness and mockery.

If this man hadn’t touched a nerve, what sort of trash was he? He truly didn’t know where a waste like this got the confidence to show off in front of him, Chen Fei.

”What? You, you... you’re Chen Fei!?” Chen Weishan stammered, his body shuddering violently upon hearing Chen Fei’s words.

Who was Chen Fei? He was Old Master Xuu’s life-saving benefactor! Word was that he was now the honorary chief instructor of some special department, possessing formidable strength. Even though Chen Weishan wanted to use Chen Fei’s connections to ask Old Master Xuu to help the Old Chen Family through its current predicament, he still hadn’t dared to approach the young man directly. Instead, he had resorted to underhanded tactics, starting with Chen Fei’s mother. After all, according to his private investigations, this kid was no easy mark. He had a domineering personality and used ruthless methods! If he accidentally let slip what happened over twenty years ago, wouldn’t he, Chen Weishan, be in deep trouble and unable to handle the fallout? That was why he had always avoided Chen Fei, daring only to approach him through Lin Ling. He had her call her son and ask him to seek Old Master Xuu’s help for the Old Chen Family’s predicament, which would incidentally also secure his own position.

But now? The man he had always dreaded and never dared to confront had appeared right before his eyes. And it seemed Chen Fei was the one who had ordered his abduction.

”No, I...”

Uncontrollable, heavy panting followed. Half of Chen Weishan’s face twitched. He was pale with fear, and his legs gave way, causing him to collapse to the ground.

No matter how foolish he was, he now understood why the other party had gone to such lengths to have him captured. Was it all because of that bitch, Lin? The very thought brought a twisted, furious expression to his face. He was Chen Weishan! A scion of the Old Chen Family of the Forty-Nine City, a deputy director-level official in the Ministry of Public Security, and his father was Chen Huaqin... More importantly, strictly speaking, he was Chen Fei’s paternal uncle! But now, a mere junior dared to commit such an act of insubordination, capturing him, an elder. How could he not be furious?

WHAM!

Another kick flew into his field of vision. Chen Fei’s eyes were slightly downcast, a cold gleam flickering within them as if he had seen right through the man’s thoughts. He raised his leg and kicked out, the sole of his shoe stamping viciously onto Chen Weishan’s already bruised and swollen face.

”Gah... you...” Chen Weishan screamed as he was sent flying two or three meters by the kick. Most of the teeth on the other side of his face were knocked out, and blood streamed from the corner of his mouth. The rage nearly made his lungs burst, but when his eyes met Chen Fei’s icy gaze, he felt as if a venomous snake had just bitten him. A chill shot through his limbs, freezing him in place.

”You... you... By what right did you capture me? Do you know who’s behind me? The Old Chen Family of the Forty-Nine City! Who gave you this authority?” Despite his terror, he put on a brave face, straining his neck to yell at Chen Fei. Perhaps he still subconsciously saw Chen Fei as a mere junior, while he, Chen Weishan, was his paternal uncle.

Seeing Chen Weishan still daring to shout so brazenly, Wang Dashan’s gaze sharpened and his expression hardened. He took a step forward, but Chen Fei held out a hand to stop him.

”That’s enough. I’ll handle this myself,” a young, emotionless voice said, echoing in the room.

”You, what do you want!? I’m telling you...” Hearing this, Chen Weishan shuddered violently. He finally realized something was wrong. A chill snaked up from the soles of his feet. The atmosphere in the room suddenly turned bizarre and sinister, filling him with an inexplicable fear. Of course, what frightened him most was Chen Fei’s glacial tone and his words.

”Yes, Chief Instructor.” Wang Dashan immediately retreated a few steps. But when he looked again at Chen Weishan, who was slumped on the floor, his eyes were filled with mockery and pity, as if he were looking at a dead man. The gaze made Chen Weishan’s heart pound with terror.

”What do I want?” Chen Fei’s indifferent, emotionless voice rang out again. He stared at the man, his eyes as black and clear as obsidian, and spoke in a slow, chilling tone. ”Tell me, before you went to my mother, did you ever stop to think about the consequences? Everyone has a line that can’t be crossed. My mother is mine. Understand?”

”A line? Bullshit! You’ve got a lot of nerve for someone so young. Do you know who I am? Do you know my relationship to your mother, and to you?” Seeing that Chen Fei had laid everything bare, Chen Weishan blurted out the words in a fit of rage, not thinking them through.

He regretted the words the instant they left his mouth. But Chen Fei only gave a cold, faint smile. He looked up, gazed at Chen Weishan indifferently, and then suddenly grinned. ”What relationship? The one where my mother and I almost died at the hands of you hypocrites over twenty years ago? I haven’t even come looking for you to settle that score, and here you are, knocking on my door.”

”You, you, you, you...” Hearing Chen Fei’s words, Chen Weishan was so frightened his soul nearly left his body. His eyes, wide with terror, were fixed on Chen Fei. He never expected this, never... ”GULP... You know?” he asked in disbelief, forcing himself to swallow. He couldn’t believe the kid actually knew.

”What do you think?” Chen Fei’s dark eyes narrowed, shooting out a sharp, icy glare brimming with murderous intent. ”Did you think what happened back then would be so easily forgotten? I didn’t know before, but I know now. Heh...” His tone was as cold as shards of ice, instantly making Chen Weishan tremble violently, his face twitching.

”S-since you already know, then you should release me immediately! Right now! I’m your paternal uncle! What you’re doing is insubordination! It’s disrespecting your elders! You’ll be struck by lightning for this!” he stammered, forcing himself to be brave. Now that everything was out in the open, so what? He was Chen Fei’s uncle, his elder. What was there to fear?

At this thought, his courage swelled, and he threw caution to the wind, yelling at Chen Fei, ”I’m telling you, release me obediently right now, and I can be the bigger man and overlook this offense. But if you insist on being so foolish, then from this day on, you and your mother can forget about ever stepping foot into the Old Chen Family! We will never accept you! And the Old Chen Family will make you suffer consequences you can’t even imagine!”

”The Old Chen Family? Such a big name.” A faint, heart-stopping chill emanated from Chen Fei as his dark, crystal-clear eyes flashed. He spoke calmly, ”Let’s put that aside for now. I’ll be going to the Capital City sooner or later to get justice for my mother anyway. Let’s talk about the present. Don’t you think for a piece of useless trash like you, killing you would be as easy as crushing an ant?”

”Crush me?” Hearing Chen Fei mention death, comparing him to an ant that could be crushed so easily, Chen Weishan, who had just puffed out his chest, flew into a rage. He jumped to his feet and shrieked, ”You little bastard! I’m telling you, if you’ve got the guts, then try it! I am your paternal uncle, your elder! You dare disrespect me? You dare raise a hand against your superior?”

”Uncle?” A mocking, cruel sneer curled Chen Fei’s lips. ”It would be incredibly simple for me to kill you. But... do you really think I’d let someone like you have such a quick death?”

Hearing Chen Fei’s words and his tone, even Wang Dashan and the Elite Members of Flying Leopard in the room couldn’t help but shudder.

They knew better than anyone who Chief Instructor Chen was and what kind of power he possessed. After all, even Tiger Leopard Hall and Luo Zun, a notoriously deranged figure in the martial world, had been utterly destroyed by his hand. For Chief Instructor Chen, the man who had single-handedly orchestrated all that, to say something so cold and emotionless... just thinking about the implications was enough to chill them to the bone. So when they looked at Chen Weishan again, their eyes were filled with pity and even sympathy. Of all the people to provoke, the man had to pick a fight with Chief Instructor Chen... He was truly courting death.

However, Chen Weishan was still oblivious. He didn’t believe he was about to die a miserable death, nor did he believe a junior like Chen Fei would dare harm an elder like him. Hearing Chen Fei’s words, he assumed it was all just tough talk, empty threats meant to scare him. He was convinced that Chen Fei didn’t actually have the guts to do anything to him.

Now that the situation seemed irreversible and with his mind made up, Chen Weishan was no longer afraid. He tilted his head back and shouted arrogantly, ”Come on then! If you’re so tough, give it a try! I’m telling you, if you dare to touch a single hair on your uncle’s head today, my father and the Old Chen Family will never let you off! If you’ve got the guts, do it! Come at me!”

”Hmph!” Chen Fei’s gaze, as cold and sharp as a sword, swept over him.

He waved his hand, his right fingers twitching slightly. Then, as Wang Dashan and the Elite Members of Flying Leopard watched with eyes widening in horror, a lifelike serpent made of flame appeared in his palm. It flickered with a sinister, cold light. With a SWOOSH, it shot like lightning into the mouth of the still-yelling Chen Weishan.

”What... what did you do to me!?” Chen Weishan shrieked, his voice hoarse with terror. He could feel something scorching hot burning its way down his throat and finally realized that Chen Fei had actually attacked him. ”GAG!” He clawed frantically at his own throat, trying to vomit up whatever he had just swallowed, his terrified eyes locked on Chen Fei.

What... what in God’s name did he do to me!?
