”What identity and status does the Celestial Group have? Sorry, I really have no idea. All I know is that the Central Guard Bureau is the real powerhouse. The Celestial Group? Heh...”

Chen Fei sneered. ”Also, I don’t want to repeat myself. If you have the ability to take that man from this Flying Leopard Base, I, Chen Fei, will concede without another word. But if all you can do is run your mouth, you should go back where you came from. It’s embarrassing.”

”You…”

Golden Bell was seething with anger, his face turning dark and ugly. He never expected Chen Fei’s words to be so vicious, accusing him, Golden Bell, of being a disgrace. After all, within the Republic’s system of privileged departments, the Four Departments of Capital City were in a league of their own—the absolute pinnacle! And he, Golden Bell, was the deputy leader of the Celestial Group’s fourth squad. He held a high rank and significant power, placing him a cut above the rest. When had anyone ever dared to speak to him like this? It was even more galling coming from a punk in his twenties who was still wet behind the ears. At best, the kid was just a bit more of a genius, with strength that surpassed his own.

This was outrageous! Does he really think the Celestial Group are pushovers?

Thinking of this, his face trembled with anger. He bellowed, ”You’d better understand your place! I have an order from the Celestial Group right here. I can have you stripped of your position at any moment.”

”Strip me of my position?” Chen Fei sneered dismissively. ”Fine by me. I’m just a figurehead anyway. Give it a shot if you have the ability.”

”Then you have even less right to speak! A mere figurehead dares to talk back to our Celestial Group and defy orders?”

Upon hearing this, a triumphant look flashed across Golden Bell’s ugly, wizened face, as if he had just caught Chen Fei on a technicality. He sneered and strode arrogantly toward Wang Dashan and the others. With an air of absolute disdain, he bellowed in a tone that brooked no argument, ”All of you, listen up! I hold an order from the Celestial Group, which means everyone in Flying Leopard must obey my command! Now, release Chen Weishan to me immediately! And you,” he jabbed a finger at Wang Dashan, ”go and arrest him! The Celestial Group is revoking his position and will hold him accountable for his crimes!”

He was actually pointing at Wang Dashan, ordering him to arrest Chen Fei?

Not only did Chen Fei look at him as if he were an idiot, but Wang Dashan’s expression was the same. Damn, is this guy brain-damaged? A retard? Ordering me to arrest Chief Instructor Chen? Why doesn’t he just order me to go and wipe out his own family? What an idiot.

In Wang Dashan’s mind, Chen Fei was practically a legendary monster or a deity; there was little difference. And now this retard actually wants me to arrest Chief Instructor Chen Fei? If he isn’t brain-damaged, then what is he? Unbelievable…

”You! You dare defy the Celestial Group’s orders!” Seeing Wang Dashan ignore him, Golden Bell felt utterly humiliated and roared, his face livid, ”Did you hear me? Are you deaf? Can’t you hear what I’m saying?”

”Are you brain-damaged?” Wang Dashan couldn’t be bothered to pretend any longer. He stared at Golden Bell with an expression reserved for an imbecile, his gaze full of pity. Looks like this guy really does have something wrong with his head. How pitiful.

”You!” Golden Bell exploded with rage, his face burning with humiliation. He never dreamed that the director of what he considered a mere third-tier department—a subordinate—would dare to mock and berate him, a leader from a superior department, in front of everyone. The humiliation was indescribable. He had never been so disgraced in his entire life. It made him want to shoot everyone present... but he could only fantasize about it. Guns? There probably weren’t many people here who were afraid of them anyway.

”What the hell is wrong with all of you?” Golden Bell couldn’t help but shout again, his face a mask of rage and ferocity. ”I am holding an order from the Celestial Group! My word is law! It is absolute! And you dare defy me? Are you trying to rebel? Do you want to be court-martialed?”

”It seems your brain really is addled,” Chen Fei said, almost finding the man’s antics amusing. He shook his head with a slight chuckle. ”We, Flying Leopard, report directly to the Central Guard Bureau. As far as I know, we have absolutely nothing to do with your Celestial Group. So that so-called ’order’ you’re holding... is no different from a piece of scrap paper. Rebel? If you have the power to charge us with that crime, by all means, give it a try.”

”You...” Hearing Chen Fei invoke the Central Guard Bureau again while completely ignoring the Celestial Group, Golden Bell’s face practically contorted with rage, and he began to tremble. Who was he, Golden Bell, and what was his status? He was the deputy leader of the Celestial Group’s fourth squad, a part of the esteemed Four Departments of Capital City! He had been in a position of power for a long time, a leader from a superior department! When had anyone ever dared to speak to him this way? It’s utterly outrageous! An unforgivable offense!

Yet, he wasn’t a complete fool. He knew this Chen Fei was a troublemaker. More importantly, Chen Fei had killed an Elder at the Early Stage Peak of Innate Realm from the Blade Forge of Evil Dragon Pool. His strength was far greater than his own, which was precisely why the boy dared to humiliate and oppose him. But he had already come this far, armed with an official order from the Celestial Group. If he just went back empty-handed, having achieved nothing, what would happen to his reputation? The thought infuriated him. Trembling with rage, he waved a hand and declared, ”I refuse to believe you lot actually dare to defy an order! Let’s go! If they won’t release the prisoner, we’ll do it ourselves!”

The man had clearly lost his senses. In his mind, holding an order from the Celestial Group while visiting a second- or third-tier organization like Flying Leopard was equivalent to wielding the Imperial Sword, giving him the authority of an Imperial Inspector. But now, these audacious bastards actually dared to defy the order and stand against the Celestial Group! This is utterly outrageous!

”Ah?! We’re going ourselves?”

Hearing Golden Bell’s command, the expressions of the other Celestial Group members changed. One of them spoke up, his face grim, ”Cap-Captain, perhaps we should reconsider this?” Clearly, these few still had their wits about them. They were on enemy turf. These people had already defied an official order from the Celestial Group; what did that make them, a few grunts and lackeys? They were nothing.

”Reconsider? Were you kicked in the head by a donkey?” Golden Bell’s lungs felt like they were about to explode from the sheer embarrassment. ”Do you have any idea what our status is as members of the Celestial Group? You’re my subordinate, and you’re taking their side?”

”That’s not it, Captain, I…” The rebuked team member wanted to cry but had no tears. Who’s the one who was really kicked in the head by a donkey here?

”What ’I’? All of you, listen to me! We are going to release that prisoner now! I am absolutely taking him away today!”

As soon as he finished speaking, Golden Bell tried to shove past Chen Fei and march deeper into the base.

The instant Golden Bell was about to shove him, Chen Fei subtly shifted backward, clearing a path. He then watched Golden Bell’s retreating back, a cold glint in his eyes. Raising a hand, he waved it toward the armed Flying Leopard members nearby and gave a startling order.

”Open fire. Right at him.”

Open fire?!

RAT-A-TAT-TAT...

The members of Flying Leopard would never dare disobey an order from a monstrous leader like Chen Fei. Instantly, the sound of machine guns erupted, chattering away as if the bullets were free, their muzzles spitting tongues of fire.

”You... Do you have any idea what you’re doing? I’m the deputy leader of the Celestial Group’s fourth squad! How dare you attack me?” The hair on Golden Bell’s entire body stood on end. He flickered left and right like a phantom, finally dashing out of the zone of fire. He glared at Chen Fei and roared, never having imagined that a greenhorn punk would dare to issue such an order. If he, Golden Bell, weren’t an Innate Expert immune to bullets, the consequences would have been unimaginable!

But this was just too humiliating! What was his status? The deputy leader of the Celestial Group’s fourth squad, a part of the Four Departments of Capital City! And now, some second-rate department dared to open fire on him? A subordinate attacking a superior? This... this was simply outrageous!

”Just a warning. This is my territory, old man. Accidents tend to happen if you wander around recklessly,” Chen Fei retorted with a sneer.

”You…” Golden Bell’s expression changed drastically. He couldn’t believe Chen Fei actually dared to be so blunt.

”If I were you, I’d have already crawled back to wherever I came from. Why stick around just to disgrace yourself?” Chen Fei’s tongue was as sharp as ever as he looked at Golden Bell with utter disdain. He truly didn’t understand where this guy’s confidence came from. The Celestial Group? They weren’t Flying Leopard’s direct superiors. They didn’t even have the authority to issue commands. What was there to be so arrogant about?

”You... You punk! Do I need a wet-behind-the-ears brat like you telling me what to do? Say that again, I dare you!” Golden Bell was so enraged he felt his lungs might burst. He had never suffered such indignity. His eyes bored into Chen Fei as he spoke.

”Say that again?” A flicker of cold light passed through Chen Fei’s dark, limpid eyes. He then shook his head, unwilling to stoop to this man’s level. ”I’ve seen plenty of your type,” he said indifferently. ”If it weren’t for the so-called ’Celestial Group’ title protecting you, do you believe I could crush you with one hand? Besides, if you want me to release him, fine. Have the Chen Family come and beg me themselves. As for a piece of work like you, just get lost. The sight of you is aggravating and an insult to my intelligence.”

”You... Don’t you think you’re being a little too arrogant?” Golden Bell’s face twitched uncontrollably. He couldn’t believe Chen Fei would utter such treasonous words. Have the Chen Family beg him? Does he have any idea of the status held by the Chen Family of the Forty-Nine City? They are the direct, noble bloodline of Elder Master Chen himself! And this insignificant brat, what is he in comparison? Nothing!

”Do you have any idea how malicious your words are? Are you planning to make an enemy of the Old Chen Family?” he demanded, pointing a trembling finger at Chen Fei.

In his eyes, the brat’s words were unbelievably arrogant and reckless! Him, trying to take on the Old Chen Family?! He was simply courting death, completely ignorant of the forces he was provoking!
