”Go, cuff him for me!” a cold voice rang out. A Flying Leopard member dressed in camouflage gave the order, looking coldly at Chen Weishan just as the man’s eyes were widening with trembling and fear.

Before Chen Weishan could react, the special forces soldiers, armed with live ammunition, pounced on him like hungry wolves, twisting his arms behind his back and cuffing him.

”Damn it… Who the hell are you people? Do you have any idea who I am? I’m Chen Weishan! I’m from the Old Chen Family of Capital City! How dare you arrest me!?” As a man of considerable standing, being seized by a group of ruffian soldiers was the ultimate humiliation, and he couldn’t help but curse furiously.

However, the men who came for him were elites from a special department who had seen real combat—reserve members of the Flying Leopard of the Three Provinces of Lingnan. Furthermore, many among them were official active members. With direct orders from both Chief Instructor Chen Fei and Chief Luo Yuanzhi, they were not intimidated, even if their target was from the esteemed Chen Family of Capital City.

Seeing Chen Weishan still daring to curse and threaten so arrogantly, the camouflaged Flying Leopard member’s gaze turned sharp, his expression icy. He drew his pistol and viciously struck Chen Weishan on the head with its cold, hard butt. Instantly, fresh blood streamed down from his forehead.

The brutal action stunned everyone present; even swallowing felt difficult.

Clearly, they couldn’t believe it. After all, wasn’t this Chen Weishan, a man from the Old Chen Family of the Forty-Nine City? He was a scion of an immense Red Nobility family, a man with a top-tier background! Yet now... What gave these soldiers such audacity? Weren’t they afraid of the Old Chen Family holding them accountable later?

Just then, a piercing ringtone blared from inside the Bentley. Chen Weishan began to struggle as if he had gone mad, gasping for air as he yelled, ”The phone! My phone is ringing! It’s my dad! My dad is Chen Huaqin of the Old Chen Family!”

”Chen Huaqin!?”

Upon hearing that name, the expressions of the camouflaged Flying Leopard member and the surrounding special forces soldiers finally changed. Chen Huaqin had once been a famous major general in the military!

”The phone! Did you hear me!? My dad is calling me!” Seeing their hesitation, Chen Weishan’s face lit up with glee. He began to roar, his mouth full of threats, ”I’m telling you, if you don’t let me answer this call, you’ll definitely regret it! My dad will make you pay!”

”Hmph!”

The camouflaged Flying Leopard member’s expression turned cold again at the sight, but the name Chen Huaqin carried too much weight and significance, forcing him to remain wary. After a moment, he snorted and ordered, ”Give him the phone. Let him answer.”

A special forces soldier retrieved the phone from the car, held it to Chen Weishan’s ear, and pressed the answer button on the screen.

”Dad! Dad, save me!” the useless, spoiled heir yelled into the phone, his face a mask of panic. He now fully understood the severity of the situation, and his father had become his only lifeline. The moment he heard the voice on the other end, he instinctively began to scream in terror.

”What did you say? What exactly happened? Explain it clearly!” Hearing the panic in his son’s voice, Chen Huaqin tensed up on the other end of the line and barked.

”Dad, Dad… I’ve been arrested! There are so many of them, and they all have guns!” Chen Weishan said, his voice trembling with growing fear.

”What did you say!?”

Chen Huaqin became enraged, his face turning as dark and ugly as the bottom of a pot. ”Weishan, don’t panic!” he roared into the phone. ”Do you know who they are!? Who has the audacity to touch my son? Are they looking to die?” The more he spoke, the angrier he became.

If time were turned back ten years, who in the country, from political to military circles, wouldn’t have known the name Chen Huaqin? Who would have dared to show him disrespect? Who wouldn’t have addressed him respectfully as ’Chief’? Back then, he was a military bigwig who could communicate directly with the highest echelons. Now, although a decade had passed and he had long since retired, who dared claim his influence was gone? Even among the other two of the three great Red Nobility families in the Forty-Nine City, how many would dare to slight him?

But what was happening now!?

His son—his only son—had been arrested! And from what he could ’hear’ over the phone, it was done in an outrageous manner, with machine guns being fired with abandon. How could he not be furious? What was laying a hand on his son if not a direct humiliation!? He was so angry he felt his lungs might burst, his knuckles cracking as he clenched his fist.

”Dad, I don’t know who they are,” Chen Weishan said. Hearing his father’s furious roar had restored a sliver of his confidence, and the terror on his face lessened, though his voice still shook.

”You don’t know? Then give them the phone. I’ll talk to them,” Chen Huaqin bellowed immediately.

”Oh, okay, okay...” A flicker of joy crossed Chen Weishan’s face. He lifted his head toward the camouflaged Flying Leopard member and shouted, ”Hey! My dad wants to talk to you. Who’s in charge here?” As he spoke, his confidence surged back. His father was getting personally involved; how could these grunts dare to disrespect him? What a joke!

His father was a military bigwig, a man of incredible prestige. In his father’s eyes, these soldiers probably weren’t even considered raw recruits. How could they possibly dare to harm him any further? The thought made his face twist in anger once more.

He, Chen Weishan, possessed an incredibly powerful background that others could only dream of—the Old Chen Family! Moreover, his father had been a high-ranking and influential figure in the military. Even though he had been retired for several years, that influence remained. Because of this, Chen Weishan had grown up basking in the envy and flattery of others. When had he ever suffered such a grievance or been so thoroughly humiliated? Everything that happened today would be seared into his memory for the rest of his life!

He, a dignified descendant of the Old Chen Family of the Forty-Nine City, a deputy-director-level cadre in the Ministry of Public Security, and the son of the former military bigwig Chen Huaqin, had just been sprayed with machine-gun fire like some extra in a Hong Kong thriller. Luckily, his car was a modified Bentley with body panels and windows that could briefly withstand gunfire. Otherwise, would he even be alive right now? Not only that, but he’d also had his head cracked open with a gun butt by some thug soldiers, his arms twisted behind his back, and his wrists cuffed. What an outrageous humiliation! If word of this got out, how could he, Chen Weishan, ever show his face again? He was furious, absolutely incandescent with rage! He wished he could snatch a gun and annihilate those grunts to vent his fury!

”A phone call?”

Hearing Chen Weishan’s arrogant demand, the camouflaged Flying Leopard member’s eyes flickered with panic. Although he was an elite member of the Flying Leopard acting on direct orders, the idea of speaking with a former military powerhouse made him extremely uneasy. No matter how you looked at it, the name Chen Huaqin carried a weight that, while perhaps not equal to their own Chief Luo Yuanzhi, wasn’t far off.

But even with these thoughts, he clenched his jaw, determined not to lose face for the Flying Leopard. He took the phone and said slowly, ”Hello, is this Chief Chen Huaqin?” A man of Chen Huaqin’s stature certainly deserved the title of ’Chief’.

”You still know to call me Chief? Release my son at once! That’s a direct order!” Chen Huaqin’s voice exploded with fury from the phone as he barked his command.

The Flying Leopard member shuddered at the outburst but gritted his teeth and replied firmly, ”I’m sorry, Chief Chen. We are acting under orders. We cannot release your son right now.” These were direct orders from Chief Instructor Chen and Chief Luo. How could he possibly disobey? He was particularly afraid of Chief Instructor Chen Fei, who was reportedly already furious over something; otherwise, such an order would never have been given. He definitely couldn’t, and wouldn’t, release the prisoner.

Compared to a retired bigwig like Chen Huaqin, he was far more terrified of a monster like Chief Instructor Chen Fei. Besides, Tiger Leopard Hall was just annihilated at the hands of Chief Instructor Chen Fei. No matter how incredible Chief Chen Huaqin is, can he compare to Tiger Leopard Hall? Don’t be ridiculous, that’s impossible.

”What did you say—”

Chen Huaqin nearly exploded with rage. He couldn’t believe a mere soldier would dare to defy his command. Was this blatant disrespect? At the same time, however, a sense of unease began to creep in. For them to remain so brazen even after learning his and his son’s identity… could it be they truly had powerful backing?

Forcing down his anger, his lips quivering with indignation, he demanded, ”Who are you people? Who is bold enough to arrest my son and cross our Old Chen Family?”

”Chief Chen, we’re from the Flying Leopard,” the camouflaged member answered truthfully. He then continued, ”The order for this mission came directly from Chief Luo Yuanzhi and Chief Instructor Chen Fei. If you have any questions, you can contact them. If there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up now. Apologies.”

Then, he actually hung up on Chen Huaqin.

「Meanwhile, far away in Capital City.」

CRACK!

Chen Huaqin’s face contorted into a sinister mask as he slammed his phone onto the ground, shattering it.
