Myriad Heavens: Rise of the Rune God

Chapter 192: Chapter 192: The Monkey King Returns

The heavy spiritual pressure of the perfect Law of Destruction hung frozen in the void, waiting for the final twitch of a finger to erase thousands of star systems. But the finger never moved. Instead, a calm hand rested lightly on the mysterious figure’s shoulder. He stiffened, his perfect spiritual core flaring in alarm as he tried to redirect the beam away from Orion and toward the terrifying presence he hadn’t sensed standing right behind him. Of course he will fail.

The figure did not raise his voice. He did not gather energy. He simply flicked his index finger against the man’s armor.

The effect was immediate and absolute. There was no explosion, no clash of forces, no dramatic struggle. The perfect Law unraveled first, its absolute authority dissolving into empty space. Then the man’s spiritual core cracked like thin glass. His body, his meridians, his very presence in reality followed in the same quiet instant. He did not burn or bleed. He was simply unwritten. The vacuum where he stood filled with a soft ripple, as if reality itself had exhaled and moved on to the next page.

Orion stood completely still, his katana still gripped in his right hand, his brain cells burning from the forced comprehension. He had just pushed eighteen Initiate Laws toward Advanced tier through sheer mental overload. He had prepared to trade his life to protect Earth. And now, in less than a second, the threat was gone. Not defeated. Erased.

The figure stepped forward, his boots making no sound against the fractured vacuum. He wore a simple dark robe that seemed to absorb the harsh glare of the drifting fusion bulbs. His posture was relaxed, almost casual, but his presence carried a weight that made the surrounding space feel heavy and still. He scanned Orion from head to toe. To him, Orion was like an open book. His golden-brown eyes tracked the five dual-Law rings orbiting his brain, the lean combat suit woven with exotic-nanite threads, and the katana bearing eighteen glowing runes.

”The mortals evolved,” he said, his voice carrying a quiet amusement that cut through the tension of the battlefield. ”Interesting. When I left, you were still worshiping us with incense and prayers.”

Orion lowered his blade slowly. His divine sense stretched outward, trying to map the stranger’s power, but it bounced back instantly. It was not hidden by tricks or barriers. It was simply too vast. Trying to perceive him felt like an ant staring directly into a sun. The spiritual pressure was so dense, so perfectly anchored, that Orion’s newly Advanced-tier Laws instinctively quieted themselves out of respect.

”Who are you?” Orion asked, his voice steady despite the storm in his mind.

The man smiled, a sharp, knowing expression that carried the weight of millions of years. ”I am Sun Wukong. You might know me as the Monkey King, though that was just a title humans gave me when I was young and reckless.”

Orion did not flinch. He had already speculated during the peaceful year of development that the ancient myths were not fiction. He had scanned Earth’s oceans, ice caps, and orbital debris, finding ruins that predated recorded history by eons. The legends of gods, immortals, and martial saints had never been stories. They were fragmented memories of real cultivators who had reached Earth’s spiritual limit and left for higher realms. But seeing one stand before him, casually erasing a Perfect Star life form with a single flick, turned speculation into absolute reality. The ancient cultivators had not vanished. They had transcended. And humanity’s true potential was literally godlike.

Wukong crossed his arms, his gaze never leaving Orion. ”You’re using the Progenitor gene template. Smart. That genetic foundation is why we old gods could fight above our realm.” He paused, his eyes drifting to the golden rings around Orion’s brain. ”But your cultivation method is... very effective. Still, reaching Initiate comprehension across eighteen Laws in one year? Even I took a year for my first Law. Your potential is really amazing.”

Orion listened carefully, his mind already working behind the calm exterior. Wukong’s next words confirmed what he had already begun to calculate.

”I was actually looking for a breakthrough opportunity,” Wukong continued, his tone shifting to something more reflective. ”I’ve been at the absolute peak Star Realm for a long time, and I needed a spark of enlightenment to cross into the Galactic tier. I decided to wander the void, and on my way, I thought I might as well visit my hometown. That’s when I felt the spatial tear and sensed the clash. I stayed hidden just to watch.” He smiled faintly. ”You fighting a Perfect-tier being with Initiate Laws? That reminded me of my youth. Reckless. Loud. But smart enough to survive. Every god that left Earth could fight four to six realms above our actual level because of our innate divine abilities. I’m at the absolute peak Star Realm, but I can fight peak Galactic Cluster beings. We’re special. We all instinctively can activate a divine ability that’s linked to us and the Primordial blueprint. It doesn’t follow standard Law comprehension. It interacts with reality at a deeper layer. The Progenitor bloodline isn’t just genetics. It’s a massive cultivation amplifier. But you’re trying to rebuild what we lost through technology and cultivation combined. Bold.”

Orion finally sheathed his katana. The metallic click echoed softly in the vacuum. ”I’m not trying to rebuild what you lost. I’m building what we need now. Earth’s spiritual atmosphere was capped. We reached the ceiling and didn’t leave. We dug deeper into science, merged it with cultivation, and forced our own path forward.”

Wukong nodded and shifted the topic to a more pressing matter. ”You built this foundation fast, but it’s rushed. You need better consolidation. You can’t just hold eighteen Advanced Laws in a chaotic loop forever. You have to embody them into those heart and brain halos i am seeing. If you don’t, the next heavy strike will tear your body apart. Your cells can’t handle that kind of sustained pressure without a proper anchor.”

Orion nodded slowly. He had already known this. That was why, while Wukong spoke, he had quietly opened a secondary mental thread and begun designing a new cultivation technique. The old method relied on the heart’s golden Law ring to pump energy through meridians into every cell. It worked, but it created a bottleneck. His new design bypassed the heart entirely. He mapped a secondary resonance network where each individual cell would cultivate and stabilize its own miniature Law halo ring. The cells would no longer be passive containers waiting for energy. They would become independent cultivation nodes, sharing and balancing the load through a synchronized neural-spiritual web. By the time Wukong finished his sentence, the framework was already complete in Orion’s spiritual sea. He would refine it later. He didn’t need Wukong’s help for the anchoring. What he needed now was something much more practical.

Orion suddenly stepped closer, his respectful demeanor shifting into something entirely shameless. He practically clung to Wukong’s sleeve like a long-lost relative.

”Senior brother, you won’t happen to have a bunch of treasures that are no longer suitable for you, will you?” Orion asked, his voice shifting from battle-calm to pure, unapologetic earnestness as he stepped closer. ”Your junior is completely depleted right now. I’ve been burning through spiritual reserves, upgrading fleets, and forcing breakthroughs with sheer willpower. I’m basically running on empty. A few spare resources would go a long way.”

Wukong blinked, staring at him like he’d just grown a second head. Before he could reply, Orion smoothly latched onto his sleeve with both hands, his posture shifting from battle-hardened emperor to a desperate disciple in a heartbeat. ”Please, senior. Just a little pocket dimension of leftover spirit stones, or maybe some condensed energy crystals you forgot about in your storage. I promise I’ll put them to good use. I’ll even engrave your name on the first planetary monument we build.”

”Get off me, you shameless leecher,” Wukong sputtered, trying to flick his arm free while fighting back a laugh. ”When did I officially accept you as my junior brother? We just met! And you’re supposed to be an emperor, not a street merchant haggling for scraps.”

”An emperor still needs to fund his wars,” Orion replied without missing a beat, tightening his grip just enough to be noticeable but deeply respectful. ”Think of it as an investment. You save my life today, I repay you with dividends tomorrow. Plus, I heard ancient cultivators love watching their legacy thrive. Let me thrive. Just a little funding. I’m not asking for a mountain. Maybe a small hill. Or a very generous pile of energy cores. I’ll even throw in a lifetime supply of those high-grade spirit fruits you used to love back in the old days.”

Wukong sighed, shaking his head as he finally stopped struggling. The amusement in his golden-brown eyes was plain. ”You really don’t know how to take a hint, do you? Fine. Fine. You win. Here, take this.” He flicked his wrist, and a simple silver space ring materialized in the air, drifting straight into Orion’s open palm. ”It’s got enough supreme exotic energy, mana, qi, and aether to keep your little empire running for a decade. Don’t spend it all on fireworks.”

Orion caught it and immediately poured a sliver of spiritual energy inside. His divine sense expanded, and his eyes widened. The ring contained mountains of supreme quality exotic energy, compressed into dense crystalline formations. But it didn’t stop there. Alongside it were reserves of mana, pure qi, refined chi, ambient aether, and several other primordial energy types he had only seen in System archives. It was enough to power an entire planetary defense grid for a million years. Or to fuel his cellular cultivation technique through a dozen breakthrough cycles.

”Thank you senior brother, you are the best,” Orion said, slipping the ring onto his finger with genuine appreciation. ”Also, where are the other ancient gods? So that I can fleece them for resources in the future.”

Wukong laughed out loud, the sound echoing strangely in the vacuum. ”Well, most of us are still together. Some went on solo adventures, some are seeking treasure, others are chasing enlightenment or true immortality. But for those who stayed together, we established the Earth Alliance. It’s not a formal empire. More like a scattered network of cultivators who still consider this rock our root. If you want resources, you’ll have to earn their respect first. They don’t hand out treasures to juniors who haven’t paid their dues.”

Orion smiled faintly. ”I’ll keep that in mind.”

He turned his head toward the edge of the battlefield. The Kreth’mar flagship and surviving cruisers had already engaged their emergency warp drives the moment the Perfect being vanished. They were fleeing at maximum speed, burning their last fuel reserves to escape the system. Orion’s eyes narrowed. He could not let them leave.

”Wait for me,” Orion said.

Before Wukong could respond, Orion folded space. He did not chase. He rewrote the distance. His Advanced Law of Space locked onto the fleeing fleet’s chronon wake, and reality bent to his will. He appeared instantly on the bridge of the lead Kreth’mar cruiser, standing among panicked crew members who had no time to raise weapons.

Orion raised his left palm. Twenty mini black holes formed, but they were different now. Each one carried Advanced-tier Law energy instead of Initiate chaos. The friction was stabilized, but the destructive output had multiplied exponentially. He did not hesitate. He launched them forward.

The black holes tore through the cruiser’s hull and detonated in the void behind the fleet. The implosion phase lasted only a fraction of a second, pulling ships, debris, and escaping fighters into a tight spiral. Then they exploded. The Advanced Law energy did not just shatter armor. It fractured local spacetime on a massive scale. The shockwave expanded outward, swallowing thirty one adjacent star systems in its path. Fortunately, those systems were barren, containing only dead rocks and frozen gas clouds. But the destruction was absolute. Reality groaned as light-years of vacuum were scarred and rewritten.

Inside the flagship, moments before their annihilation, the Kreth’mar command crew managed to activate their emergency broadcast array in the final seconds. They transmitted multiple distress reports, sensor logs, and direct video feeds of the black hole detonations before their comms array melted. The data streamed outward at light speed, carrying clear proof of the Starr Empire’s firepower and Orion’s Advanced Law capabilities. The Kreth’mar High Command would receive it within weeks. They would not retreat. They would return. And when they did, they would bring everything they had. Orion knew it would take them one to three months to mobilize a full retaliation fleet, depending on their distance and readiness. He had bought time. Not forever. But enough.

Orion folded space again, leaving the expanding blast wave behind. He reappeared beside Wukong in the quiet void. The fusion bulbs still drifted in the dark, casting long shadows across the debris field.

”I dealt with the trash,” Orion said simply.

Wukong chuckled, shaking his head. ”Clean work. They’ll be back, though. Loudly. You should prepare for that.”

”I will,” Orion replied. ”We’ve been preparing since day one.”

Wukong nodded, his expression settling into something more relaxed. ”Good. I’ll stick around for a while. No point wandering the void when the real show is happening right here.”

Orion turned back toward the distant glow of his solar system. Earth. Mars. The Dyson Swarm. Cassia and Nyla waiting in the deep bunkers. Ten million cultivators standing ready. He tapped his comms channel.

”Rene. Patch me through to the Imperial Palace. Assign General Kael to greet our returning guest. I want him to provide a full tour of Earth, the Martian colonies, the Lunar research hubs, and the Jovian shipyards. Treat him with the highest imperial courtesy. He’s an ancient elder of our lineage.”

”Understood,” Rene replied. ”General Kael has been notified. Transport shuttle preparing at Lunar Station Alpha.”

Orion looked at Wukong. ”The tour will give you a sense of what we’ve built. And if you see anything you want to critique, don’t hold back.”

Wukong raised a hand, and space folded inward around them. The dead zone outside the observable universe closed behind them as they stepped through the fold, emerging instantly above Earth’s atmosphere. The blue-green sphere hung below them, wrapped in orbital rings, Dyson collectors, and the steady hum of a civilization that had refused to stay in the dark.

”Let’s see what my hometown has become,” Wukong said, his eyes reflecting the light of a world he had left behind millions of years ago.

Orion stood beside him, the space ring heavy on his finger, his cellular cultivation blueprint already spinning in his spiritual sea. The countdown had not stopped. The Kreth’mar would return. But for the first time since the system awakened, Orion was not standing alone.

The war was coming. And humanity was finally ready to meet it.

AN: I am proud of this Chapter. I am very sure most of you did not expect a shameless Orion. Well I just thought of it and decided to break character. Anyways, thanks you all for your continued support and I hope you are all enjoying the story. I have no plot outline for this story, i just write on vibes and sudden inspiration/epiphany, so the story might take surprisingly weird turns. So watch out and enjoy.
