Myriad Heavens: Rise of the Rune God

Chapter 172: Chapter 172: Planetary Ascension

ORION’S MANSION - UNDERGROUND LABORATORY - DAY 14 - 10:30 PM

Orion sat at the dinner table with Cassia and Nyla, eating carefully prepared food that Rene’s kitchen systems had made, and he found himself genuinely enjoying the simple normalcy of family dinner despite the extraordinary changes happening to his body and capabilities.

”You look different,” Nyla observed with the blunt directness of youth, studying him across the table, ”not physically different exactly, but like you’re more somehow—is that the third ring?”

”Third ring complete,” Orion confirmed with a slight smile, ”and yes, I’m enhanced again—sixteen times baseline human capability now, which means I’m stronger and faster and more capable than I was this morning, but the real difference you’re sensing is probably the foundation improvements I made before cultivation.”

”Foundation improvements?” Cassia asked with interest, setting down her fork.

”Meridian system and acupoint network,” Orion explained, pulling up a holographic diagram of human anatomy overlaid with the energy channels he’d discovered, ”I found these structures in my body after the first ring and realized they could be optimized—the meridians are pathways for exotic energy circulation, and I reinforced them with hexagonal mesh structures that improved efficiency by about ten times, and the acupoints are storage points that I filled with concentrated energy, creating 361 mini-batteries throughout my body.”

The diagram showed the twenty meridians glowing with golden light and the 361 acupoints distributed across his body like a constellation, and both Cassia and Nyla leaned forward to study the display with fascination.

”And I expanded my Celestial Mind Visualization to include Mars and its two moons,” he continued, ”which enhanced my spiritual power significantly—the combination of meridians, acupoints, and visualization created synergistic effects that multiplied my capabilities beyond what the third ring alone should have provided.”

”How much stronger are you?” Nyla asked with the kind of awe that suggested she was simultaneously impressed and slightly intimidated.

”About eight hundred tons lifting capacity passively,” Orion said, deliberately understating the numbers to avoid worrying them, ”Mach 4 speed, two-hundred-kilometer psychic range—and with active energy enhancement I can double those numbers, but the important thing is I have complete control over all of it, so you don’t need to worry about me accidentally crushing things anymore.”

”Eight hundred tons,” Cassia repeated quietly, processing the magnitude, ”you could lift 2 fully loaded commercial aircraft with one hand—Orion, you’re becoming something beyond human, and I need to know you’re still... you, still the person who cares about family and humanity rather than someone who’s transcended to the point where normal human concerns don’t matter anymore.”

Orion reached across the table and took her hand gently, consciously limiting his strength to normal human levels despite the vast power coiled in his muscles. ”I’m still me,” he said with quiet sincerity, ”still the person who loves you and Nyla, still someone who wants to protect humanity and build a better future, still grounded in the relationships that make life meaningful—the power is just a tool for achieving goals that matter, not an end in itself.”

”Good,” Cassia said with visible relief, squeezing his hand, ”because we need you to stay human even as you become superhuman, need you to remember why you’re doing this.”

They finished dinner with casual conversation about normal things—Nyla’s classes in the virtual world, Cassia’s negotiations with various governments, the latest news about virtual world impact on society—and Orion found the ordinariness comforting, a reminder that despite his extraordinary advancement he was still part of a family that cared about him.

”I’m continuing cultivation tonight,” he said when dinner concluded, ”fourth ring formation, and then probably fifth and sixth rings over the next few days—I’m planning to complete all eleven rings within a week now that I’ve discovered my body doesn’t saturate when meridians and acupoints distribute energy properly.”

”A week,” Nyla said with wonder, ”you’re going to complete in one week what you thought would take months—that’s insane.”

”That’s optimized cultivation,” Orion corrected with a slight smile, ”working smarter rather than just harder, using proper infrastructure to multiply effectiveness—and once all eleven rings are complete I’ll have achieved First Gene Lock and can begin studying Second Gene Lock requirements.”

”Be careful,” Cassia said, standing up to hug him, ”advancement is important but not worth destroying yourself for—take breaks when needed, rest properly, don’t push so hard that you damage something fundamental.”

”I’ll be careful,” Orion promised, returning the hug with controlled gentleness, ”Rene monitors everything and will stop me if I’m approaching dangerous limits—trust me to know my own capabilities and trust her to keep me safe.”

He headed back to the underground laboratory at 11:00 PM, leaving Cassia and Nyla to their evening while he returned to the systematic progression through ring halos that would bring him to planetary-level power.

FOURTH RING CULTIVATION - 11:15 PM TO 5:30 AM (NEXT DAY)

The fourth ring formation proceeded with the same enhanced efficiency as the third, Orion’s optimized infrastructure making the six-hour cultivation session feel almost meditative rather than intensely challenging, and when the fourth ring snapped complete at 5:30 AM he felt the now-familiar cascade of enhancement flowing through meridians and amplifying through acupoints with perfect distribution.

Fourth Ring Complete: 16x → 32x baseline capability

The doubling effect was consistent, and his infrastructure multipliers meant his actual capabilities were approximately:

Strength: 1,600 tons passive (3,200 tons with active enhancement) Speed: Mach 8 passive (Mach 16 with active enhancement) Psychic range: 400 kilometers Durability: Could survive impacts that would destroy buildings Energy reserves: Enough to fight continuously for days

He rested for six hours, ate breakfast with family, then returned to cultivation.

FIFTH RING CULTIVATION - DAY 15 - 12:00 PM TO 6:00 PM

Another six hours, another ring completed with systematic efficiency that made advancement feel almost routine.

Fifth Ring Complete: 32x → 64x baseline capability

Capabilities scaling dramatically:

Strength: 3,200 tons passive (6,400 tons enhanced) Speed: Mach 16 passive (Mach 32 enhanced) Psychic range: 800 kilometers Telekinesis: Could manipulate thousands of tons at supersonic speeds Flight: Hypersonic capability through electromagnetic manipulation Elemental mastery: Could create weather-scale effects

He rested overnight, spending evening with Cassia discussing business operations that continued expanding globally, then resumed cultivation the following morning.

SIXTH RING CULTIVATION - DAY 16 - 8:00 AM TO 2:00 PM

The sixth ring formed smoothly, his body adapting to the rapid enhancement with resilience that suggested his cultivation foundation was truly optimal.

Sixth Ring Complete: 64x → 128x baseline capability

Power reaching extraordinary levels:

Strength: 6,400 tons passive (12,800 tons enhanced) Speed: Mach 32 passive (Mach 64 enhanced) Psychic range: 1,600 kilometers Could sense and affect things across entire regions Energy manipulation creating effects visible from orbit

Another rest period, another family dinner, then back to cultivation.

SEVENTH RING CULTIVATION - DAY 17 - 9:00 AM TO 3:00 PM

The seventh ring completed and Orion sat in the cultivation chamber feeling power coursing through his body that transcended anything he’d imagined possible when starting this journey.

Seventh Ring Complete: 128x → 256x baseline capability

Capabilities approaching planetary scale:

Strength: 12,800 tons passive (25,600 tons enhanced)

Speed: Mach 64 passive (Mach 128 enhanced - could circle Earth in under an hour)

Psychic range: 3,200 kilometers (continental scale awareness)

Telekinesis: Tens of thousands of tons manipulable simultaneously

Flight: Could reach orbit unassisted

Elemental control: Could affect weather patterns across regions Energy projection: Single attacks delivering kiloton-scale force

”First Gene Lock I designed is described as planetary-level capability,” Orion said to Rene, examining his internal state, ”and I’m approaching that threshold—four more rings and I’ll have genuinely planetary power, will be able to affect Earth-scale systems, will have transcended human limitations so completely that baseline humans and I will barely be the same species.”

”You’re also developing faster than projected,” Rene observed, ”seven rings in three days when original estimates suggested months—your infrastructure improvements have accelerated advancement beyond initial calculations.”

”Then I’ll take a break,” Orion decided, recognizing that rushing toward completion wasn’t wise when consolidation and family time were also important, ”spend a few days with Cassia and Nyla, let my body fully integrate these seven rings, train with my new capabilities rather than immediately pushing for rings eight through eleven.”

”Recommended,” Rene agreed, ”and I have upgrades to propose for your training environment—the current gravity chamber is insufficient for your capabilities now, and I’ve designed replacements that will provide appropriate challenge.”
