Myriad Heavens: Rise of the Rune God

Chapter 163: Chapter 163: Mastery in a Day 2

LUNCH BREAK - 12:00 PM TO 12:30 PM

Orion exited the gravity chamber and found that Rene had prepared lunch in the underground laboratory’s small kitchenette—sandwiches, fruit, water, simple food that wouldn’t require complicated preparation or create mess.

He ate carefully but naturally, his fine motor control now sufficient that eating was no longer an adventure in avoiding self-injury, and while he ate he reviewed the morning’s progress with satisfaction that bordered on pride.

Four and a half hours of training. Complete mastery of fine motor control, sensory filtering, and movement control. Achievements that should have taken days compressed into a single morning through enhanced learning capability.

”You’re progressing at exactly one hundred times the projected rate,” Rene confirmed, reviewing training data, ”exercises designed for three-to-five-day completion are being mastered in hours—at this pace you’ll achieve complete capability mastery by end of day.”

”That’s the goal,” Orion said between bites of sandwich, ”master everything today, begin third ring cultivation tomorrow, continue systematic advancement without wasting time on extended training periods.”

”Ambitious but achievable,” Rene agreed, ”afternoon schedule: strength modulation at various gravity levels, energy manipulation control, elemental technique precision, combat scenario integration, and psychic ability refinement—estimated completion time assuming current learning rate: six hours, which puts you finishing around 6:30 PM.”

”Then let’s not waste time,” Orion said, finishing his lunch quickly and standing up with smooth controlled movement that would have been impossible yesterday, ”the sooner I master everything, the sooner I can advance to the third ring.”

STRENGTH MODULATION - 12:30 PM TO 2:00 PM

Back in the gravity chamber, Rene adjusted the graviton field generators and gravity increased smoothly from 1G to 2G, and Orion felt the change immediately—his body suddenly weighed twice normal, movement requiring twice the effort, muscles working harder to achieve the same results.

”Strength modulation testing,” Rene announced, ”at 2G you need to apply different force levels than at 1G to achieve the same results—learn to automatically adjust strength based on environmental conditions.”

Punch a target with exact force. Lift weights to exact heights. Apply precise pressure despite changing gravity. Each exercise teaching him to modulate strength consciously, to account for environmental factors, to achieve intended results regardless of conditions.

3G. 5G. 10G. Each increase making movement harder, requiring more strength, but Orion adapted rapidly, his enhanced brain calculating required force adjustments automatically, developing intuitive sense of exactly how much strength to apply in any given situation.

At 50G he could barely move, each step requiring tremendous effort, his enhanced strength fighting against twenty-five times his normal weight, but he could still function, could still walk and lift and manipulate objects with control even under crushing gravitational load.

At 90G movement became glacial, each action requiring maximum effort, sweat pouring down his face from exertion, but he persisted, forced his body to adapt, learned how to function even under conditions that would kill normal humans instantly.

”90G is your current functional limit,” Rene observed, ”above this threshold your strength is insufficient to overcome gravitational load effectively—but this will improve as you complete more ring halos and gain additional enhancement.”

By 2:00 PM Orion had mastered strength modulation across all accessible gravity levels, could automatically adjust force application based on environmental conditions, could function at anything from 0.1G to 90G with appropriate control.

ENERGY MANIPULATION - 2:00 PM TO 3:30 PM

”Energy control training,” Rene announced, and the chamber environment shifted to show energy measurement displays throughout the space, ”direct exotic energy to your right hand only, maintain stable glow at exactly fifty percent maximum output for one minute.”

Orion focused on the Radiant Core in his abdomen, felt it spinning steadily, and consciously directed energy flow up through his torso, down his right arm, into his hand while specifically not allowing energy to flow anywhere else.

His right hand began glowing golden, and only his right hand, no energy leakage to his arm or chest or other body parts, and the measurement displays showed power output at 47%—close to target.

He adjusted consciously, increasing flow slightly, and the output climbed to 50% exactly.

Maintained it. Ten seconds. Twenty seconds. Thirty seconds. His enhanced brain monitoring the flow constantly, making micro-adjustments to keep output stable, compensating for natural fluctuations in the Radiant Core’s rotation.

Sixty seconds.

”Success,” Rene confirmed, ”stable controlled emission achieved—now alternate between left and right hands every five seconds while maintaining exactly fifty percent output in whichever hand is active.”

The exercise continued with increasing complexity: both hands simultaneously at different power levels, hands and feet, creating energy barriers at specific distances, suppressing emission completely then releasing it instantly, modulating output smoothly from zero to maximum and back.

Each variation testing different aspects of energy control, and Orion’s enhanced brain learned the patterns rapidly, developed intuitive understanding of energy flow, achieved conscious mastery over the Radiant Core’s output.

By 3:30 PM he could direct exotic energy anywhere in his body with perfect precision, could maintain any output level from zero to maximum, could create stable emissions or instant bursts, had complete control over the golden power that suffused his enhanced form.

ELEMENTAL MANIPULATION - 3:30 PM TO 5:00 PM

”Elemental control training,” Rene said, and holographic targets appeared throughout the chamber at various distances, ”create fire: small candle flame, located exactly above your right palm, temperature exactly 800 Celsius, duration thirty seconds, no deviation.”

Orion extended his right hand and focused, remembering the massive inferno from last night that had resulted from asking for ”small flame,” and this time he consciously limited the exotic energy flow, specified exact parameters, controlled every aspect of the manifestation.

A small flame appeared above his palm, flickering gently, roughly the size and shape of a candle flame, and the temperature display showed 803 Celsius—close to target.

He adjusted, reduced energy flow slightly, and temperature dropped to 800 Celsius exactly.

Maintained it for thirty seconds without wavering.

”Excellent control,” Rene praised, ”now create ten simultaneous flames at different locations, each with different temperatures ranging from 500 to 1500 Celsius, maintain all of them stable for one minute.”

The training escalated systematically: ice formation at precise temperatures, lightning generation with controlled voltage, earth manipulation creating specific shapes, water control managing exact volumes, electromagnetic fields at precise strengths, light manipulation for illumination or laser generation, heat control across wide temperature ranges, nature energy for plant growth acceleration.

Each element tested thoroughly, each one brought under conscious control, and Orion discovered that his enhanced intelligence made elemental manipulation easier than it should be—he could visualize the exact molecular processes needed, could calculate energy requirements precisely, could manifest elements with scientific accuracy rather than vague intent.

By 5:00 PM he had mastered all nine primary elements, could create and control fire, ice, lightning, earth, water, electromagnetic fields, light, heat, and nature energy with precision that would make him devastating in combat and invaluable for practical applications.

”Elemental mastery achieved,” Rene announced with satisfaction, ”you now possess conscious control over fundamental forces of nature—next phase: combat integration.”

COMBAT TRAINING - 5:00 PM TO 6:30 PM

The gravity chamber transformed into a combat arena, holographic opponents appearing at various positions—some humanoid, some alien-looking, all moving with coordinated purpose that suggested genuine threat.

”Combat scenario: five opponents, mixed capabilities, defeat them using appropriate force without killing any of them,” Rene instructed, ”this tests your ability to modulate strength, speed, and elemental techniques in dynamic situations while maintaining control even under stress.”

The holographic opponents attacked simultaneously, and Orion moved.

His enhanced speed made their attacks seem slow, telegraphed, easily avoided—he sidestepped a punch that would have connected with a normal human, ducked under a kick that passed harmlessly overhead, and countered with a palm strike to the first opponent’s chest that he consciously limited to ”disable not destroy” force.

The holographic opponent flew backward from the impact, hitting the wall and sliding down unconscious but not dead, exactly as intended.

Second opponent attacked with a weapon—holographic staff that would register as painful impact if it connected—and Orion caught it mid-swing with his telekinesis, stopping the weapon dead in the air before yanking it from the opponent’s grip and using it to sweep their legs, controlled strike that disabled without serious injury.

Third and fourth opponents together, coordinated assault from different angles, and Orion created an ice barrier between them, froze the floor beneath their feet, sent a controlled lightning bolt that stunned without killing, systematic efficient takedown that demonstrated complete control over multiple abilities simultaneously.

Fifth opponent was fastest, nearly matched his enhanced speed, and Orion had to actually try, had to push his capabilities, dodge at full speed and counter with energy-enhanced strikes that were carefully calibrated to disable rather than destroy.

Thirty seconds after the scenario began, all five opponents were unconscious on the floor, defeated through precise application of overwhelming capability that was consciously restrained to appropriate force levels.

”Perfect execution,” Rene announced, ”controlled use of strength, speed, elemental techniques, and psychic abilities, appropriate force modulation, no unnecessary damage—combat capability confirmed.”

The scenarios continued with increasing difficulty: ten opponents, twenty, fifty, mixed with environmental hazards and time limits and requirements to protect holographic civilians, each scenario testing different combinations of abilities under different constraints, and Orion mastered them all with systematic efficiency.

Flight combat. Aerial maneuvers while engaging enemies. Telekinesis as primary weapon throwing supersonic projectiles with precision. Energy projection creating beams and blasts and barriers. All of it integrated into comprehensive combat capability that made him genuinely dangerous in ways that extended far beyond simple physical enhancement.

By 6:30 PM the combat training was complete, and Orion stood in the center of the chamber breathing slightly harder from genuine exertion, surrounded by holographic training partners who’d pushed him to actually use his full capabilities, and he felt good, felt capable, felt like he’d finally mastered the power instead of being mastered by it.

TRAINING COMPLETE - 6:30 PM

Orion exited the gravity chamber and found Rene’s laboratory body waiting outside with what could only be described as pride in her expression despite the synthesized nature of her features.

”Eleven hours of training,” she said with admiration evident in her tone, ”complete mastery of fine motor control, sensory filtering, movement control, strength modulation, energy manipulation, elemental techniques, and combat integration—you’ve achieved in one day what the training schedule projected would take three to five days for baseline humans or even one to two days for enhanced individuals.”

”Enhanced brain, enhanced learning speed,” Orion said simply, rolling his shoulders to work out the tension from hours of intensive training, ”when you can process information eight times faster and learn from each repetition eight times more efficiently, training timelines compress dramatically.”

”You’re ready,” Rene continued, ”ready to function in normal society without being a danger, ready to interact with people without accidentally harming them, ready to use your abilities in practical applications rather than just theoretical exercises—what’s next?”

”Next?” Orion smiled with satisfaction, ”tomorrow I begin the third ring halo cultivation—my body has had enough time to adapt, my control is sufficient to handle additional enhancement, and I want to continue advancing systematically.”

”But tonight,” he continued, stretching muscles that were genuinely tired for the first time since enhancement, ”tonight I rest, let my brain consolidate everything I learned today, maybe spend time with Cassia and Nyla like a normal person instead of a training-obsessed cultivator, and tomorrow the advancement continues.”

”Speaking of normal interaction,” Rene said, ”Cassia returned from headquarters an hour ago, the virtual world launch was extraordinarily successful—1.71 billion subscribers on day one, economic transformation happening faster than projected, governments calling emergency meetings to discuss implications—she’ll want to tell you about it.”

”Then let’s go see her,” Orion said, heading toward the elevator that would take him back to the mansion proper, ”and I’ll actually be able to hug her without worrying about breaking her ribs, which is a significant improvement over yesterday.”

MANSION - LIVING ROOM - 7:00 PM

Cassia was sitting in the living room with a glass of wine, her tablet displaying news coverage of the virtual world launch, and she looked up when Orion entered with an expression that mixed exhaustion and triumph.

”You survived training,” she observed, standing up to greet him, ”Rene sent me updates throughout the day—apparently you’re some kind of superhuman learning prodigy who mastered in eleven hours what should have taken days.”

”Enhanced intelligence has benefits,” Orion said, accepting her hug and returning it with carefully controlled strength that was gentle and appropriate, ”I can learn faster, adapt faster, master faster than normal humans could, which means training timelines compress significantly.”

”And you’re not going to accidentally crush me anymore?” Cassia asked with slight trepidation.

”I could crush you if I wanted to,” Orion admitted honestly, ”I’m eight times stronger than baseline and could apply lethal force accidentally if I lost control—but I have control now, conscious mastery over my strength and speed and abilities, so no, I won’t accidentally crush you during normal interaction.”

They sat down together on the couch, and Cassia launched into an enthusiastic description of the virtual world launch: the announcement, the global reaction, the market chaos, the business transformations happening in real-time, the economic summit the Federation was calling, all of it flowing out in excited detail that suggested she was proud of what they’d accomplished.

”1.71 billion subscribers,” she concluded with satisfaction, ”generating over 200 billion credits monthly at current rates, transforming how humanity works and learns and socializes, and it all happened because you decided virtual reality should be accessible to everyone rather than just wealthy elites.”

”That was always the goal,” Orion said quietly, ”democratize advanced technology, make the future available to all of humanity not just privileged minorities, and use our capabilities to lift everyone rather than just ourselves—I’m proud of what we’ve built.”

Nyla arrived home from classes shortly after, joining them in the living room, and they spent the evening together as a family, talking about normal things, watching the news coverage of virtual world impact, existing as three people who genuinely cared about each other rather than as CEO and superhuman cultivator and high school student.

It was grounding. Necessary. Important.

Because power without purpose was dangerous, and advancement without connection was empty, and Orion needed these moments to remember why he was pursuing impossible capabilities—not for personal glory, but to protect the people he loved and build a future worth living in.

The future was being built.

One breakthrough at a time.

One impossible achievement at a time.

And tomorrow, the advancement would continue.
