High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1800: Chapter 21: Feels Great

Birds fly high,

you know how I feel;

Fish in the water,

you know how I feel;

Leaves on the treetops,

you know how I feel;

The breeze drifts by,

you know how I feel;

Bright sun shining,

you know how I feel;

Stars twinkling,

you know how I feel;

——Sun setting in the west, peacefully falling asleep, that’s what I mean;

This is the old world, also the new world.

To me, it is a brave world;

To me, this is a brand-new dawn, a brand-new day, a brand-new life!

I throw away the law book in my hand,

feeling good... (Note①)

......

Zheng Qing walked through the slightly empty campus of Jiuyou Academy, following the speaker flowers in his arms, singing the song of freedom. Birds chirping, leaves rustling, the breeze brushing by, sunlight bright — this feeling is great.

Poseidon cheerfully darted around his feet, chasing its own fluffy big tail, while the little fox lady, Su Ya followed sulkily not far behind the warlock, watching the little ungrateful fox completely ignoring her, she couldn’t help but clutch the handkerchief in her hand, gritting her teeth, her ears perked up in anger.

She had every reason to be annoyed.

Having taken care of Poseidon all summer, finding it tasty snacks every day, playing around with it, and cleaning up its mess, only to be abandoned as soon as a paper crane from the school hospital arrived! Anyone in this situation would grit their teeth.

Zheng Qing also had a reason to sing.

When the young wizard lay in the school hospital, it was still early summer. But when he left the white building holding a flower pot and carrying a basket of leftover fruit, it was nearing late summer. Whether it was regaining freedom, regaining control of his magic power, or seeing a peaceful world again, all were worth celebrating.

Among this group, perhaps only Poseidon’s happiness was without reason.

It was just a little over a year old and didn’t need to seek reasons for its happiness — of course, if needed, it could find plenty of reasons.

For example, the butterfly dancing in front of it, with its beautiful wings, just looking at it makes one happy; or Zheng Qing, who was willing to play games with it, also made it happy; and the sun in the sky, the cotton candy-like clouds below the sun, the rustling treetops below those clouds, and the lively squirrels under those trees were all sources of the little fox’s happiness.

The holiday wasn’t over yet, Lin Zhong Lake was still very quiet.

On the lake shore lay rows of white water buffaloes, lounging on the smooth blue stone slabs, with half their bodies submerged in the emerald water, blinking their innocent big eyes, quietly ruminating on the piled-up water weeds in their stomachs.

A bit further, dozens of red big birds scattered over the water, occasionally dipping their long necks into the water, pecking out lively little fish.

Without the students’ clamor, the fishmen in the lake relaxed a lot, daring to surface in broad daylight, lying on the wet banks to sunbathe, only when Zheng Qing passed did a few younger fishmen nervously grasp the stone spears beside them, puffing up the fins on their backs, and yelled at him in mock menace.

Zheng Qing glanced at those little fishmen and silently blocked the speaker flowers’ mouths.

He wasn’t overly worried about the flower’s song disturbing the sleeping fishmen by the lake; nor was he afraid of those little fishmen’s stone weapons.

He was merely feeling guilty when he saw the small island in the middle of the lake at the same time as those little fishmen. The white small tower on the island was still broken into two parts, its fracture still bearing noticeable black char, seemingly indicating that the school had no intention of repairing it.

This left the young wizard feeling uneasy.

To the extent that he tiptoed while walking, a feeling that only eased a little when he stepped onto the tree-lined path at the end of Lin Zhong Lake, where the cool breeze under the trees blew past him.

In the late summer, the edges of the large leaves of the sycamore trees on either side of the tree-lined path began to turn yellow, and on the mottled branches, the gray-furred squirrels and the mottled dormice, even when meeting, no longer played but rushed past each other, clutching the chestnuts in their arms.

They were already preparing enough food for the long winter.

A crisp voice cursing a chipmunk came from behind, reminding Zheng Qing of the little fox girl accompanying Poseidon to the hospital, and he glanced back.

”Why are you still following me?” He looked at Su Ya with some puzzlement.

The little fox lady glared angrily at the boy, pouting while using her chin to point at Poseidon by Zheng Qing’s feet: ”I need to take it back for dinner!”

Zheng Qing blinked: ”Dinner? No, no, that’s not necessary, I’ve been discharged, I can take care of Poseidon myself... you should go back.”

Poseidon squatted by Zheng Qing’s feet, curling its fluffy big tail around Zheng Qing’s ankle, chirping happily as if urging Su Ya to leave quickly.

Zheng Qing felt greatly relieved, suddenly realizing how much he had neglected the little fox over such a long time was indeed his own fault.

The little fox lady displeased, widened her eyes: ”It must go back... it hasn’t completed yesterday’s or even the day before yesterday’s homework! I can’t hide it for long, if the miss finds out, it’s doomed!”

Homework?

Zheng Qing raised his hand to rub his ear, thinking he misheard. He looked down at Poseidon, and the little fox bashfully lowered its head, drooped its ears, squatting at the wizard’s foot, curling into a ball, its tail tightly wrapped around his ankle, seemingly not intending to leave under any circumstance.

The young cost student sighed deeply, the feeling of parental affection that had risen moments ago instantly vanished.

Indeed, there’s no such thing as love without reason in this world.

”What kind of classes does it usually take?” The warlock steadied himself and looked at the little fox girl again.

Su Ya counted on her fingers and quickly replied: ”Classical wizard etiquette, emblem studies, understanding devils, five language literature appreciation, music, hunting skills, fur care... oh, and the outline of talisman studies, the miss said Poseidon should become a well-rounded, developmentally balanced good fox.”

Zheng Qing licked his dry lips, giving a sympathetic glance to the little fox at his feet. The little fox whimpered, making a howling expression.

”Um,” the boy cleared his throat: ”What is five language literature appreciation?”

”Works appreciation in Thebes Witch Text, Ogam Text, Bubbleish Text, Enochian Text, Marduk Text of ancient magical scripts.” Su Ya counted her fingers, and suddenly hesitated, looking down at the little fox: ”...Did I say it wrong?”

”Squeak!” Poseidon scornfully corrected.

”Oh, no Bubbleish Text, it’s Rune Text!” The little fox lady suddenly realized, pounding her palm heavily.

Zheng Qing calmly patted his head.

He couldn’t admit in front of the two little foxes that he didn’t understand the specific meanings of those ancient magical scripts — in fact, he suspected that aside from Xiao Xiao, Jiang Yu, Matthew, and a few others, probably not many wizards in the entire Jiuyou Academy had studied those obscure things.
