High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1771: Chapter 515: The War is Over (Part 2)

Shi Hui glanced at Elder Ruoyu.

The agreement was made between Elder Ruoyu and the Dark Councilor, involving the reputation of the First University, and she wouldn’t forcibly request Elder Ruoyu to breach it. However, if this agreement harmed the school’s interests, she wouldn’t mind using it as a pretext to make some points later.

Elder Ruoyu remained silent for a long time.

Finally, he raised his head and glanced at the Dark Councilor.

”You lost that game of chess.”

The elder stroked the silver wolf’s head on his staff, and said slowly, word by word: ”So, you may take others with you, but ’Tai Yi’ must stay at the school, and there’s also that subsequent contract.”

In the Silver Serpent World, it was once agreed by the two legends that if the Dark Councilor won, he could safely leave with his people, and the Alliance would recognize the existence of the Dark Council, including the forbidden curse; if Elder Ruoyu won, although Six Fingers could still leave with the councilors of the Dark Council, the forbidden curse they studied must stay at the school, and they needed to sign a new contract as well.

The new contract would naturally strictly limit the Dark Council’s coveting of the forbidden curse, even stipulating their membership methods, council numbers, and the rights and obligations towards the Alliance, and so on.

Although that last game of chess wasn’t completed, Elder Ruoyu had a significant advantage on the board.

More importantly, the school had a greater advantage currently in the Black Prison. So, for the Dark Councilor, the optimal solution upfront was to acknowledge and emphasize the significance of that chess game.

”Very reasonable.”

The Dark Councilor’s face looked unpleasant, but he didn’t continue to argue. Instead, he raised his hand to tug at the brim of his hat, and with a twist of his figure, he turned into a streak of black light, spiraling downward, sweeping up the people of the Dark Council, crashing through the world barrier, and disappeared in the Black Prison in an instant.

The school’s two legends did not stop his departure.

”They lost a Big Wizard and abandoned the forbidden curse, and are no longer a threat to the Alliance.” Elder Ruoyu looked at Shi Hui and explained a few words uncharacteristically long-windedly: ”Besides, many in the Dark Council were originally wizards of the Alliance... this organization might serve as an opportunity for us to have a dialogue with those fellows.”

By ’those fellows’ he referred to the stubborn wizards within the Mage Alliance.

However, the witch was currently thinking of the recently succeeded Sea Demon King, instinctively understanding ’those fellows’ in the elder’s mouth as the demon side.

In the school, Elder Ruoyu was the greatest supporter of ’non-mainstream wizards’ like the Moon Council, so his proposal to communicate and dialogue with demons didn’t quite startle Shi Hui.

”They’ve just gained an ancient demon... if you wish to make peace with them, save it for when you become headmaster.” The witch turned expressionlessly, putting away the Five-Colored Lotus beneath her—after the Sea Demon King left, the curse he left behind quietly dissipated, no longer needing the suppression of the Five-Colored Lotus.

Elder Ruoyu was stunned for a moment before realizing the witch’s misunderstanding.

But he didn’t argue, just rubbed the silver wolf’s head on his staff in his hand, tilted his head, looked at the indifferent sky, and sighed gently.

Behind him, Shi Hui stepped forward, landing on the wall of Black Prison’s stronghold, and tucked the pocket watch into Zheng Qing’s hand.

Clink, the cover of the watch snapped shut automatically in the young man’s palm.

Inside the watch cover, the previously frozen second hand started ticking again and began to move around.

Clack.

Clack clack.

The world seemed to stretch, uttering a contented moan.

Beneath the sky, primordial qi rolled again, Tai Yi’s light illuminated once more, and the sounds of wizards chanting spells, accompanied by shouting, rose one after another—a sole issue being that the demons originally within the spell’s attack range had all disappeared—the flow of time began, colors fluctuated, and in an instant, the entire world bloomed with vibrant vitality amid the once desolate stillness.

Then, two legendary presences filled the battlefield, pressing down on the descending primordial qi, suppressing the flourishing light of Tai Yi, while also putting an end to the purposeless attacks by ordinary wizards.

”The war is over.”

The witch’s cold voice resonated in the ears of every wizard, echoing throughout the Black Prison World:

”The school has preserved the Xuanhuang Wood and repelled the invading Demon Alliance Army.”

”The Black Prison World is still under the control of the wizards.”

”The Divination Group follows the pre-arranged plan to treat the wounded, sort the earth’s qi, and rebuild the damaged Black Prison Castle. Each hunting team withdraws from the Black Prison World in an orderly fashion according to their structure. The Big Wizards return to the school to ’clean up,’ so that the chaos of the Black Prison does not repeat on Buji Island...”

...

...

”It’s finally coming to an end.”

Beta Town, Pedestrian Street.

San You Bookstore.

At the window, the Yellow Flowered Cat yawned broadly, lifted a paw to wipe the corner of its eye, rubbing away a few tears, and then lowered its head, taking one last look at that tea bowl.

In the clear tea water, a tiny pale blue fluorescent glow slowly rose amidst the night.

That dot of glow was extremely fine and weak, no larger than a needle’s point within the tea bowl, yet the light it emitted easily pierced through the deep darkness of the night, causing the once-quiet tea water to quiver slightly, splashing tiny droplets.

The Yellow Flowered Cat sneered slightly with a hint of envy.

”An Ancient One, huh.”

It twitched the whiskers at the corner of its mouth, its peripheral vision sweeping towards Mr. Wu on the nearby deck chair, murmuring in a casual tone: ”Thanks to someone... these days, even Ah Mao and Ah Gou can leap out of the river of destiny.”

Following Mr. Wu’s breakthrough as an ancient wizard, reaching a brand-new realm, the dissipating destiny and fortune revealed paths for many wizards trapped in their current stages—registered wizards breaking through to Big Wizards, Big Wizards breaking through to become legends, legends breaking through to become Ancient Ones.

This is why, in the past decade, high-tier wizards have emerged like bamboo shoots after a rain throughout the Wizard World, and the younger and more enterprising a wizard is, the more they benefit from this legacy.

For example, the youngest member of the Great Wizard Conference, Su Shijun, the North District Great Wise Person, Korma, and the Sea Demon King, who among legends was a junior yet surpassed others today to become an ancient demon.

It is the gift of the pioneers.

It is the golden era for the young.

Just like Mr. Wu once told the Flower Cat—’Time is great. One day, you and I will both perish. Dreams, ambitions, fears, good and evil, everything, will turn to dust and be buried together in the unfathomable Ruins. But beyond the Ruins, a new world will birth, new life will bloom. Everything, belonging neither to you nor me, will belong to the new generation.’

However, the Yellow Flowered Cat said this sentence now, not to praise the grand era brought by Mr. Wu, but more about the latter part of the sentence—Ah Mao and Ah Gou can leap out of the river of destiny—it bit the words ’Ah Mao’ particularly hard.

On the deck chair.

The book covering Mr. Wu’s face had changed from ”The Golden Lotus” to ”Essential Prescriptions of the Golden Coffer,” but what remained unchanged was the intermittent, faint yet persistent snoring under the book.

He might have heard the Flower Cat’s muttering, or maybe he hadn’t.

To him, whether as a Big Wizard or an Ancient One, within and outside the river of time and destiny, there’s little difference, nor does it warrant extra attention.

Seeking truth getting truth, the greatest truth to him now was the pleasant sound of snores under the book.

Not getting the response it desired, the Yellow Flowered Cat furiously pushed its paw into the small teapot Mr. Wu commonly used, stirring it with malice.

Thinking that a being above an Ancient One might drink its foot-washing water, the Flower Cat’s heart brimmed with delight.
