High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1763: Chapter 507: Coming Thick and Fast

Silver Serpent World.

In the long river.

A small boat.

In front of the chessboard.

After a myriad rays of light burst from the bone relic on Giant Zero Three’s forehead, the Vice-Chancellor of the First University and the President of the Dark Council ceased their conversation and did not continue their game of chess—although they still stared at the chessboard, it was evident that both elders began to become somewhat distracted. Without raising their heads, they perked up their ears, capturing every sound from the Black Prison battlefield.

From the questioning hum of the Xuanhuang, to the calm and powerful cry of ’Taiyi’.

From the groaning of the world in the resetting process, to the panicked roars of the demons and prisoners on the battlefield.

From the simultaneous clanging of bells and chimes, to the thrumming meeting of the five tones.

The expressions on the faces of the two elders varied between shock and joy, contemplation and impassiveness.

Suddenly.

An energy appeared abruptly.

The two legendary wizards lost their initial composure, raised their heads in unison, and looked beyond the Silver Serpent World once more. Due to the slight agitation of their movements, a few chess pieces were swept onto the deck by their robes’ breeze. But clearly, no one was paying attention to such minor disturbances at this moment.

The gaze of legends reached.

The Black Prison World.

In front of the inner castle battlefield.

At the center of the Keiform Flight Land, directly above the remains of the Iceberg, where once hung a pitch-black orb, it was the entrance Vice Principal Shi Hui ’dragged away’ the Sea Demon King. This orb, about a meter in diameter, churned with many small vortices on its surface. When sunlight fell, faint arcs of electricity could be seen fleeting across.

Amidst the spell waves and magical flares of the battlefield, this black and silent orb seemed so unnoticeable.

Until ’Taiyi’ stood under the bright moon, facing the vast Xuanhuang, with the sound resonating around the battlefield, ’Yuan yuan follows the beginning, vast and primordial’.

Suddenly, an eye the size of a bushel darted out from the black orb, dragging behind it a blood-soaked and skeletal remains, accompanied by a string of mad laughter, charging head-on into the center where the Profound Yellow Array and Taiyi’s energy intertwined.

Amidst the laughter, came the roaring of the Sea Demon King:

”Heaven and Earth united, life borne!”

”Is there a better opportunity than this?!”

”This is surely heaven’s assistance!”

Heaven and Earth are Xuanhuang.

The entanglement of ’Xuanhuang’ and ’Taiyi’ energy is the communion of Heaven and Earth. As Heaven and Earth combine and change, hardness and softness engage, Eight Diagrams collide, all things give birth to each other.

To live, is to arise.

This ’life’ implies endless hope, an unending cycle, infinite succession, the idea of rebirth after placing in a deadly place.

Following after the eye, a Five-Colored Lotus also emerged from the black orb, appearing on the battlefield. Its five-colored brilliance shone, quickly shaking the dominion of ’Taiyi’ and ’Xuanhuang’ over the Black Prison battlefield.

Successive top-tier legendary wizards’ aura recklessly burst into the battlefield, releasing, turning the bright moon dark, causing Xuanhuang to twist back, making skeletons tremble, silencing every wizard and demon, large and small on the battlefield.

And yet, none of this succeeded in stopping the eye from charging into the very center where ’Xuanhuang’ and ’Taiyi’ energies entwined.

Silver Serpent World.

Inside the small boat.

The two elderly wizards silently witnessed everything.

For a long time.

Elder Ruoyu murmured softly:

”The Witch Demons summon the spirits from underground, the demons scoop out magma from beneath the stones, cries and wails ring long, the sun and moon shine together. You think this is a battlefield, but it’s merely a chessboard for the big figures.”

”When you realize, the big figures at the chessboard’s edge have grown even bigger, beginning to eagerly reminisce about the nine heads they previously lost—it can afford to lose nine times and still live on, whereas losing just once means you truly die.”

No one knows who these words were intended for.

...

...

Time turns back to before ’Xuanhuang’ and ’Taiyi’ energies intertwined, while the simultaneous clanging of bells and chimes still reverberated endlessly on the battlefield.

At the end of the sky, the Primordial Qi fell, covering the colors of two suns and that moon, and behind the Xuanhuang, countless stars twinkled, forming constellations, as if constructing delicate cages.

The Divination Group released a flock of Green Birds to convey messages.

Throughout the battlefield—from the Hunting team’s deployment of a second-rank formation at the front fortress, to the Wizards grooming the formations on the walls, and then the few principals confronting the Big Sea Monsters on the Keiform Flight Land—the Wizards defending the Black Prison Castle began disengaging from demons, retreating in an orderly fashion, retracting their battle lines.

The Three-headed and Eight-armed Giant Ape was also among them.

Zheng Qing held onto one of the giant ape’s fingers, as if hugging a massive pillar.

At this moment, his mind was somewhat in chaos.

At times, he recalled the slender red sky pillar he had previously pushed down, then saw the vast Xuanhuang qi falling from above him, and then remembered what his teacher had once told him.

”Jiuyou Academy united with Starry Sky Academy, transcending Alpha’s shackles, used the enhancement of the Law book and fusion with Runes to develop the third-generation curses... which is the First University’s fourth forbidden spell, called the ’Dragon Han Disaster’... the Dragon Han Disaster has already been simplified to the point where it can be performed by nine Big Wizards jointly.”

Nine Big Wizards.

The number of Big Wizards stationed at the outer fortress happens to be nine, and they had just openly distanced themselves from the battlefield, activating their powerful magic that spread the vast Xuanhuang.

Is this the school’s forbidden curse?

Why haven’t I felt a bit different? What about the others? Will this forbidden curse indiscriminately destroy all lives on the battlefield like my Fu Bullet or that blood-red pillar?

In his sea of consciousness, the solidified seed seemed to have sensed the aura diffusing in the surrounding air, joyfully sprouting a bud visible to the naked eye, beginning to branch out and grow.

But at this moment, Zheng Qing had not the slightest concern for the seed’s mood. Fear and anxiety, like the boundless Xuanhuang color above him, filled his mind.

In fear, the Three-headed and Eight-armed Giant Ape had already delivered the young wizards to the inner castle wall, on the as yet undamaged wall.

Professor Yao retracted his true form, while a group of young wizards, like dumplings cast into a pot, fell with a clatter.

Several teaching assistants steadied themselves mid-air, saluted the professor, and proceeded to assist the wizards guarding the walls in organizing order; Jiang Yu’s waist jade pendant glowed, and a patch of blue cloud appeared beneath her, landing her securely on the ground.

A light grey barrier enveloping the transforming little witch floated down to the battlement like a feather, and a team of adept Hunters circled around it, guarding its perimeter.

Only the few young Hunters of the Atonement Hunting Team, lacking influential backing or affluent resources, and without mastery of sufficiently refined magic, found themselves at a loss after the professor withdrew his true form, falling solidly onto the walls.

Fortunately, the height was limited, and they were not actually harmed.

This fall made others dizzy, but it cleared Zheng Qing’s previously chaotic mind somewhat. He was finally reminded that he was on a battlefield, where life and death are only a moment’s matter, and no amount of worry or regret should cause one to daze on a battlefield.

Turning his head, he looked at the professor.

Professor Yao’s face was a wine-red hue, his pitch-black small eyes twinkling, the sallow skin repeatedly showing expressions of mercy, indifference, and brutality, with magic power around him fluctuating unstably, an energy budding like a flower in a thunderstorm, yet to bloom.
