Chapter 1756: Chapter 500: Legends (Part 1)

Tap, tap, tap, tap.

The crisp and hollow sound of footsteps echoed in a deep corridor.

A witch cloaked in wide robes strolled within, holding a heavy law book in her arms. Although the pages were not open, a faint glow seeped out from the closed edges, occasionally flickering, as if a frog inside was desperately trying to leap out by lifting the pages.

Shi Hui knew there was no frog in her law book, just as she was completely certain that this corridor did not belong to the Black Prison Castle.

Despite this corridor possessing a similar eerie and dark aura to that of the Black Prison Castle,

the witch clearly remembered dragging the Sea Demon King Xiang Liu out of that ancient castle, into the pre-arranged battlefield, a bubble microcosm already in ruins, which the divination group had planned beforehand.

In theory, this microcosm should have been completely dark, silent, devoid of any life, with no ancient castle, and certainly not this long corridor before her.

Obviously, the Sea Demon King had twisted the rules within the microcosm, establishing its own domain in this lifeless world.

’Able to easily drag an opponent, also at the legendary peak, into its domain...’

’Has it reached such a level already?’

’No, the gap between us isn’t that great... Did it utilize some powerful mystical artifact? Or use some new forbidden curse? What exactly is this Xiang Liu plotting?’

The witch pondered quietly, continuing forward. She had been walking in this corridor for a long time, and from what she could see, she would continue for even longer.

In truth, beneath the guise of a tranquil corridor and seemingly leisurely stroll, lay the clash of legendary laws. With each step the witch took, a different attack was triggered within this labyrinthine domain — most of which directly targeted the soul, mainly using illusions, false paths, phantoms, and confusions, supplemented with various restrictions and surprises.

The destructive power was debatable, but certainly annoying.

The witch continued forward with patience, neither hurried nor slow.

The corridor seemed endless, engulfed in boundless darkness both forward and back, but at intervals, an Ancient Gublai Fairy Fire was inserted into the walls, either to the left or right.

The orange-red flames danced silently, casting an oval halo, which fell onto the slick floor tiles, resembling flickering eyeballs.

Before the witch, those fairy fires bloomed with effort, creating brilliant spots on the floor.

Behind the witch, the Ancient Gublai Fairy Fires seemed to exhaust their last bit of magic power, their glow flickering precariously, as if about to extinguish the next moment, the spots on the ground beneath them like pierced eyeballs, oozing a color named dimness.

The ample cloak dragged behind her, slightly lifted, merging with the sequence of extinguished fairy fires, as if she was advancing, pulling along a swath of night.

Tap, tap.

The footsteps resounded twice more, then halted.

As if an invisible wind swept by, the Ancient Gublai Fairy Fires along the corridor’s sides shuddered in unison, emitting a slight, somewhat chaotic crackling sound. On the floor, those oval spots shook violently with the flame’s leap, as if eyes were turning.

Stillness and movement, light and shadow, these elements mixed together, giving the impression that at this moment, the entire corridor came alive.

”How interesting.”

The witch murmured, lifting her head, innumerable symbols, magic scripts, and spell formulas flowed across her eyes, moving, weaving, and reassembling in her vision— it seemed that in her gaze, there was no deep, dark corridor, only intersecting lines crisscrossing, and she was walking on those lines.

After a while, the runes in the witch’s eyes slowly thinned out, and the dark corridor along with the shadows of the Ancient Gublai Fairy Fire’s leap returned to her sight.

She stretched out a hand, touching the thick, tall wall beside her, seemingly feeling the dampness and chill from the wall bricks, then slowly retracted her fingers, clenching them into a fist.

The witch lifted her head, looking towards the darkness at the corridor’s end, a sarcastic smile playing on her lips: ”If this is all you have...”

Before the words were finished, the small, delicate, white fist was raised high and then smashed heavily against the thick wall.

Crack, crack!

Rumble, rumble!

From the point where the fist landed, a teeth-gritting sound of cracking spread through the entire corridor. Soon, web-like patterns broke through that last thin layer of wall skin, appearing in the witch’s sight.

The entire corridor collapsed at an incredible speed.

In the distance, a painful cry vaguely resonated.

The witch leapt nimbly, stepping on the falling wall bricks, braving the surging dust, and burst out of the maze constructed by the Sea Demon King’s body and laws, returning to the bubble microcosm shrouded in darkness and silence.

But contrary to her expectations,

outside the maze domain, it wasn’t an endless expanse of black.

In her vision, eighteen elliptical stars were orbiting within this microcosm, following some mysterious trajectory. These stars were similar in size, but of different colors, emitting an intense and frenzied aura. The stars were covered in streaks like writhing black scars, arranged in a radiating pattern, with a long, narrow mark at the center, from afar resembling massive eyeballs.

No, they were eyes.

The eighteen eyes of the Sea Demon King Xiang Liu.

At the instant the witch leapt out of the maze domain, two ’stars’ in the universe’s depths silently went out, a price Xiang Liu paid to trap an opponent also at the top tier of legend.

”I thought you would’ve taken this opportunity to return to the Black Prison Battlefield.”

Shi Hui stood amidst a void, just an inconspicuous speck, yet the vast aura belonging to a legend filled the entire microcosm, impossible to ignore.

She held the heavy law book, looking up, frowning, her gaze simultaneously on each ’star’, her voice resonating clearly in every corner of the darkness:

”You sacrificed one of your heads just to trap me for such a brief moment? This doesn’t seem like the cunning and treacherous Xiang Liu.”

Sixteen stars flickered in succession, conveying waves of Xiang Liu’s frenzied consciousness:

”If possible, I don’t mind sacrificing a few more heads... It’s just that you came out sooner than I expected, time was a bit tight.”

”Leave? Why leave?”

”The feast hasn’t been divided, the show has just begun, why would I want to leave?”

”The head is mine, even if I stew it, boil it, roast it and eat it, what’s it got to do with you?”

”The Black Prison is now filled with a bunch of kids... Even if I swallow the entire Black Prison, uproot that old tree and eat it, what’s the point?”

”The heavenly Dao is right before me, I walk faster and further than you all!”

”The little ones have their plans, you have your plans, and I have my thoughts... The future of this world has never been so clear!”
