Chapter 1065: Chapter 127 Meeting and Harmony

The silvery-gray snake molt lay quietly beneath the grass nest, resembling a discarded strip of burlap. Its tiny scales shimmered with mysterious colors in the cat’s eyes.

Perhaps because it was near the lakeside, the humidity made the snake molt somewhat slippery, which was also why Black Cat had just slipped and fallen.

The frolicking black and white cats both stopped in their tracks the moment they saw the snake molt.

It was because this snake molt was exactly what everyone had been seeking for a long time—the trace left by Liu Fei Fei’s pet snake. Zheng Qing and Jiang Yu, among others, had seen that snake more than once, and the scent was unmistakable; they could not possibly mistake it.

The two cats were silent for a few seconds before Xiao Bai let out a shriek and took off, quickly disappearing into the bushes, vanishing from Black Cat’s sight.

Zheng Qing took a while to realize that Xiao Bai had run away.

”It’s just a snake molt, not the actual snake,” whispered Black Cat as he shook his whiskers. He thought Xiao Bai had been scared away by the snake molt. This wasn’t surprising, as for the small-statured Xiao Bai, Liu Fei Fei’s snake, as thick as an arm, was naturally terrifying. Even the residual scent of its molt was enough to scare away most of the insects and small animals by the lake.

Perhaps next time he should wrap a snake molt around his own neck to see if that untamable Xiao Bai dared to mess with him again? The thought flitted through Zheng Qing’s mind.

Of course, for him, those prankish thoughts just flickered through his mind. His more pressing task now was to alert his comrades from the Absolution Hunting Team about the location of the snake molt—so he couldn’t be concerned with pursuing Xiao Bai’s escape.

However, figuring out the current location of the hunting team members was a challenge for Zheng Qing. Although earlier, he had discussed the night’s search with Xiao Xiao and others in passing, he had only asked briefly and had not delved into the specifics of the route. He only knew that the team would eventually head to Gazebo Number Seven.

After hesitating for a moment, Black Cat decided to go wait at Gazebo Number Seven for everyone.

Before leaving, he still had a small task to perform. After glancing around, Black Cat stood up, then picked up some dry grass from the nearby nest and covered the snake molt, as a camouflage, to keep some ignorant animals from tampering with it after he left.

Moments later, Black Cat, swishing his tail, vanished silently into the quiet night.

On the other hand, Xiao Bai, also known as Jiang Yu, had not been scared away by the snake molt. Like Zheng Qing, she had recognized the origin of the snake molt at first sight. However, unlike Zheng Qing, she knew where to find the hunting team that evening.

In those silent seconds, Jiang Xiaomao pondered whether to reveal her identity to Zheng Qing so the two cats could handle the situation together. On one hand, she wasn’t as communicative as Zheng Qing, so figuring out how to communicate was a big problem; on the other hand, she realized later that even if she didn’t tell Zheng Qing her identity, Zheng Qing would still take good care of the snake molt.

This was why Xiao Bai could run off with such determination and without hesitation.

She needed to bring the search team to the site as soon as possible—the work of a wizard required a wizard’s handling, and two cats couldn’t continue the tracking on their own.

For this reason, she dared to face a group of howling big cats once again.

Luckily, when she arrived under the Cat Fruit Tree the second time, she happened to see the figures of Li Meng and others leaving. But with her short cat legs, she could only watch from a distance, unable to catch up immediately.

Add to that the fact that the male cats in the Cat Fruit Tree, thinking that Xiao Bai had come to her senses, joyously scrambled down from the tree, chasing after her.

Jiang Xiaomao had to dodge left and right, eventually escaping only after getting covered in grass clippings and dust.

By the time she caught up with Li Meng and the others, they had already reached the twenty-seventh gazebo in the Ring Mansion corridor. On a wooden bench to one side of the gazebo, a certain black cat was neatly sprawled out, lazily waiting for them.

Seeing the familiar black cat lying on the long wooden bench, Xiao Xiao’s eye twitched. It was like whatever you feared the most was bound to happen. He had no idea what ’terrible’ thing this black cat might have done tonight.

Just then, he heard Li Meng’s cry of surprise.

Turning around, Xiao Xiao just saw a white figure flash past him, pouncing towards the black cat on the bench. In the blink of an eye, the black cat had clumsily rolled off the bench, scratching furiously at some furious little white cat.

Jiang Xiaomao felt she had enough reason to be angry.

She had run so far, hiding from those lustful tomcats, her throat dry from meowing, and finally when she found the team, she saw some black cat lying there comfortably.

Could there be anything more infuriating?!

”Duck! Duck! Be careful, don’t let the black cat scratch my cousin’s newly adopted kitten!!” Li Meng spoke with a tongue-tie.

As she spoke, she threw the stuffed bear from her arms onto the ground and scurried towards the black and white cats in her little leather shoes, trying to scoop the little white cat into her arms and keep her away from the black cat.

”I think the black cat is more in need of worrying!” Nicholas commented very objectively, ”From what I saw, that black cat was quite scratched up by the little white cat... Are you sure they are not planning to mate?”

”No!”

”Impossible!”

Li Meng and Xiao Xiao denied in unison, then glanced at each other at the same time. Meanwhile, both the black and white cats heard Nicholas’s comment. The white cat’s ears perked up, and it glared fiercely at a certain veteran, growling threateningly. The black cat, on the other hand, twitched its ears, and its cat face showed a hint of helplessness.

”Oh, that is quite a murderous look.” Nicholas noticed the little white cat’s gaze and shuddered, ”The books are right, animals in heat are more aggressive.”

”Shut up! Can’t you speak less?” Li Meng, holding the little white cat tightly, burst out angrily, ”Can’t you see I’m busy here?!”

Nicholas blinked, feeling the little witch’s anger was completely illogical, and could only shrug his shoulders innocently.

Xiao Xiao coughed softly and discreetly moved in front of the black cat, placing himself between it and the others to explain why he had just denied, ”If cats were planning to mate, it wouldn’t be as violent as just now... Moreover, these two cats are too different in size, it’s impossible!”

His first statement was somewhat vague, but he was very certain about the last.

Li Meng nodded quickly, giving Xiao Xiao a hundred thumbs up for his timely explanation, ”Exactly, that’s right.”

Nicholas looked at them both skeptically, feeling that the atmosphere was a bit strange.
