High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1052: Chapter 114: The Missing Person

Normally, when a professor calls on a student to answer a question, and the student fails to respond correctly, it is customary for the professor to reprimand them. If the situation is serious, the student might also have to write an additional essay with a specified word count or copy the class notes several times.

But this only applies to most students.

For good students, especially those who rank at the top of their class and carry the title of scholarship student, professors usually do not skimp on their favoritism. Even the stern Professor Emma is no exception.

For example, at this moment, Liu Feifei, although she had failed to answer the question correctly, still easily escaped the ’spotlight moment’. Professor Emma, with a face full of tender love, allowed her to sit down first—perhaps in the old lady’s eyes, standing there red-faced and flustered under everyone’s gaze was punishment enough for Ms. Liu to realize her mistake profoundly.

”This question might have been a bit complex, let me explain it again. Everyone, pay attention and take notes...”

Zheng Qing, clutching his feather pen, couldn’t help but roll his eyes—if it had been Season Letter or Nicholas who failed to answer such a question, the old lady on the podium would never patiently explain the question again after making them copy the class notes with a scowl.

It was only top students like Liu Feifei who received such preferential treatment.

’The calling event’ was the only minor incident during the whole class. After that and until the bell rang for the class to end, there were no other disturbances in the classroom. Professor Emma’s homework was as plentiful as always, and the sighs of the students were as heavy as usual.

Looking at the crowded corridor outside the door, Zheng Qing tilted his head and glanced at the sky outside the window, wondering whether to stay in the classroom to do some homework before leaving. It was almost mid-March now, and the days were gradually getting longer than the nights of winter, with it only slightly dark around five in the afternoon.

When he turned his head back, he was surprised to find two rare ’guests’ standing in front of his desk.

Nicholas and Liu Feifei.

Due to the ’exceeding expectations’ results in last semester’s final exams, Nicholas had gathered the courage to publicly disclose the relationship that nearly everyone was already aware of, so recently, after every class, the two of them would immediately cling together, ostensibly studying just to be close to each other.

If it weren’t for the fact that witches occupied the entire front row center of the classroom, and Liu Feifei wouldn’t possibly give up the best spot to listen to the lecture, Zheng Qing had every reason to believe they would be sitting together in a couples’ seat throughout the class.

So, when Zheng Qing saw these two suddenly standing in front of him, he couldn’t help but let his mind wander.

”Are you two here to give me wedding candy?” the young scholarship student raised his eyebrows, jokingly asking, ”I wasn’t aware that the school now allows students to marry...”

His teasing made the already somewhat awkward Liu Feifei blush even more, and even Nicholas’s face grew a few shades more embarrassed.

”Don’t talk nonsense!” the skinny veteran with a ponytail waved his hand, trying to look experienced and like a ’big brother’ while maintaining a composed demeanor.

But his rapidly trembling eyes made this ’composed’ image considerably less convincing.

”We’re here for a serious matter,” Nicholas emphasized.

Zheng Qing glanced at him dismissively: ”Isn’t that obvious... I’m no use to you for anything not serious!”

Liu Feifei burst out laughing.

This made Zheng Qing feel a bit uneasy, so he couldn’t help but scan the back right row of the classroom with the corner of his eye. Thankfully, thankfully, Elena had already left, which allowed him to quietly breathe a sigh of relief.

His attention returned to Nicholas and Liu Feifei, and Zheng Qing felt an inexplicable sourness rising in his heart. When other people were in a relationship, they seemed to want to stick together twenty-five hours a day, but when it came to him, he felt left out for twenty-three hours a day.

To say their relationship was cold, it wasn’t—dating, kissing, dancing, walking hand in hand down the path, they hadn’t missed any of it.

To say they were passionately in love, that wasn’t the case either—Zheng Qing always felt that there was a kind of polite distance between him and Elena when they dated, a faint invisible boundary between them, and every time they became a bit closer, the Gypsy witch would hastily escape.

Maybe it was due to cultural differences, he consoled himself by thinking he could just ask her out a few more times. After all, it was a cross-cultural romance, with which he also had no experience.

Shaking his head to dismiss the sour thoughts, Zheng Qing looked sternly at Nicholas, ”Let’s get one thing straight, I can be the best man, but you must give me a big red envelope... It’s my first time, after all!”

Nicholas paid no mind to Zheng Qing’s nonsense, and pulled up a chair nearby for Liu Feifei to sit.

Then he sighed and explained, ”Little Dragon has disappeared, I haven’t seen it for quite a while now... The Pet Garden keeper also can’t clarify where it has gone.”

After speaking, he glanced at Liu Feifei sitting next to him.

Zheng Qing slightly furrowed his brows.

The ’Little Dragon’ Nicholas mentioned was actually a large spectacled cobra, Liu Feifei’s pet, which often scared Li Meng into squealing and left a deep impression on Zheng Qing.

Logically speaking, such a big snake couldn’t just disappear without reason in First University.

”Recently there’s been an increase in pests and it’s spring... Could the little snake have gone out to find ’friends’?” Xin Fat Man suddenly interjected, hinting subtly.

Fat Man was originally discussing this week’s training plan of the Atonement Hunting Team with Zhang Ji Xin on the side, but when he heard the conversation between Nicholas and Zheng Qing, he couldn’t resist joining in.

Hearing Fat Man’s analysis, Zheng Qing couldn’t help but look at him with disdain—although the wording was subtle, everyone being adults, easily got the crude insinuation in Fat Man’s words. Sure enough, as greasy as ever.

”No, that’s not possible,” Liu Feifei, not minding Xin Fat Man’s poor analysis at all, responded seriously, ”Little Dragon is very well-behaved, it usually returns home in the evening to say hello even if it goes out for a stroll. It has never gone missing for this long.”

”How many days has it been missing?” Xiao Xiao, who had been organizing notes until now, suddenly got interested.

”Three... no, five days?” Liu Feifei hesitated, unsure, ”Because school just started, I’ve been really busy and haven’t been able to visit the Pet Garden every day. Zhan Yuchen, the senior, noticed that Little Dragon’s food box was accumulating meals for two days before notifying me... It has now been five days.”

”You want me to help find Little Dragon?” Zheng Qing guessed the reason Nicholas brought Liu Feifei here, but he didn’t think it was a good idea, ”This kind of thing should be handled by the Pet Garden or the School Works Committee... They should be more professional than me.”

”Exactly, exactly,” Zhang Ji Xin also bluntly chimed in, ”Why would you think to ask him for help? He hasn’t even memorized the basic training manual for Hunters yet.”

This was a bit embarrassing.
