High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 997: Chapter 59 Berserk Sentinels

”Bang!”

A Fu Bullet blasted out of the gun barrel, accurately striking the center of Robert Lee’s forehead just a few steps away, lifting the back of his skull and splattering a mess of red, white, and yellow fluids.

”Boom!”

The Blue Fatty was so startled by the bullet that he plopped down on the ground, his heavy iron rod smacking onto the ground with a thunderous noise, making the entire Forest Goods Market seem to jump.

”Disaster, disaster, Brother Qing, you’ll have to spend a lifetime in Danghag now!” the Blue Giant mumbled and mumbled, vigorously shaking his big head, then, with a mournful face, he rushed towards Zheng Qing and shouted, ”How could you aim like that? With such a big target as his head, how could you just shoot straight through?”

Even Xiao Xiao didn’t know what to do and stood up, the Turtle Shell in his hand falling to the ground due to shock.

”Shut up!” Zheng Qing, still holding the Charm Gun, didn’t move a muscle, still aiming outside the wall, and said without turning his head, ”Have you ever seen a living person who can slowly get up after getting their brains blown out?”

The Blue Fatty looked outside upon hearing this and realized that the ’Robert’ with his head blown open hadn’t returned to dust, his soul hadn’t returned to the earth. Instead, he was still struggling in the same spot, trying to stand up.

”Holy shit, a demon!” The Blue Fatty’s eyes bulged, his demeanor changed completely, his hand snatched up a huge boulder that had been prepared earlier, and with all his might, he hurled it at the ’Robert,’ while bellowing, ”Eat this, my Alpha Xin’s Mount Tai crushing the top!”

The suspect, whether a ghost or demon with an unknown identity, was firmly crushed under the huge green boulder falling from the sky, without even a grunt, and then went completely silent.

Zheng Qing scratched his head while listening to the Fatty’s shrill cries next to him.

”Shouldn’t the Blue Giant become calmer after transforming?” he said, as he inserted a new Fu Bullet into his Remington, somewhat speechless, then asked Xiao Xiao, ”Why do I feel like he’s turned into more of a buffoon instead?”

Xiao Xiao had already sat back down, his brow furrowed, as he was earnestly interpreting the lines on the piece of dry Turtle Shell, which he was roasting over a small pile of burning Cao Herb.

At the remark, he casually replied, ”Becoming calm is necessary to transform into the Blue Giant, but that doesn’t mean one has to remain silent after transforming. Everyone has a different way to find peace. Maybe becoming a chatterbox is his way.”

Zheng Qing clicked his tongue dismissively, ”He’s already a chatterbox normally.”

Xiao Xiao didn’t pay him any heed and continued to scrutinize the Turtle Shell in his hands, flipping it over and over.

It was only after a while that he muttered, ”That’s not right, the divination signs are calm, that shouldn’t be.”

Zheng Qing didn’t catch it clearly and asked, tilting his head, ”What? What did you say?”

”I was asking, how did you know that guy wasn’t Mr. Li?” Xiao Xiao looked at Zheng Qing very seriously, raising the Turtle Shell in his hand, ”I’ve been burning the Turtle Shell and doing divination to monitor our surroundings since Mr. Li left... and there were absolutely no anomalies. How did you spot it?”

Finally being asked this question, Zheng Qing also felt a bit helpless.

”I don’t know.” The young sponsored student shrugged his shoulders and answered honestly, ”It was just a subconscious shot... I had no clue it was a fake. Before the Fatty spoke up, I was even more scared than he was.”

”I didn’t notice that.” The Blue Fatty, having fetched a few more ’boulder ammo’ from the market, was now sitting cross-legged at the gap in the wall, his height advantage helping to keep watch. Upon hearing this, he turned his head and roared with laughter, ”Brother Qing, just now you seemed pretty calm...”

”That’s because you’re tall, and your eyesight isn’t good.” Zheng Qing tugged at the corner of his mouth, ”I was so scared just now that my heart was squeezed into a knot... thankfully, it was a fake. By the way, Fatty, that smash of yours was truly powerful, earth-shattering, a decisive blow!”

”It’s nothing special... without your Fiery Eyes, Golden Gaze, even if I wanted to smash, I wouldn’t be able to hit it.” The Blue Giant humbly waved his hand, his face sporting a smug smile from the praise.

Doctor Xiao didn’t join in the mutual adulation with his two comrades that followed.

Still furrowing his brow, he scrutinized the Turtle Shell in his hands, pondering whether he had missed some detail.

It wasn’t until a familiar voice sounded in his ear, ”Stop fretting, it’s all about intuition, which is utterly illogical.”

Xiao Xiao turned his head to see the Trishula Commissioner Andrew, who had been busy on the other end of the market, standing beside him.

Noticing Xiao Xiao’s gaze, Andrew added with a smile, ”Some people’s knees ache when rain is coming, while others have nightmares because they’ve seen images that don’t exist in this World, and there are those who can speak languages they’ve never learned... These are all talents, the mysterious part that magic can’t explain.”

”What about your talent?” Xiao Xiao asked bluntly.

”Me?” Commissioner Andrew paused, then laughed, ”Every time I have a canker sore in my mouth, the shadow of the God of Death tends to appear nearby... just like now.”

As he spoke, he pulled back his lip to show Xiao Xiao the white spot on the inside of his mouth, saying vaguely, ”I found this thing in my mouth when I brushed my teeth this morning... and sure enough.”

He smacked his lips and turned his head toward the Boulder outside the wall, as if deeply concerned.

As the two conversed, Zheng Qing, who had been concentrating on the area beyond the wall, briefly shifted his attention back.

Then he was startled by the figure that suddenly appeared next to Xiao Xiao, nearly blasting Andrew’s face off with another shot.

”Mist grass... Bro, can you not stand so silently behind a hunter’s back?” The young cost student emphasized with a pale face, ”Especially a hunter who is holding a Charm Gun with Fu Bullets in it!”

”Got it, got it.” Andrew carefully dodged away from Zheng Qing’s gun barrel, nodding repeatedly.

Xiao Xiao’s eyes returned to the Turtle Shell in his hand, ”Speaking of which... I thought you’d show up later. Why did you give up on ambushing so soon?”

Zheng Qing mulled over these words several times before realizing they were addressed to Andrew.

Right after, he grasped the underlying meaning of the remark.

”You’ve been nearby just now?” The young cost student asked with a hint of disbelief in his tone.

”Not the whole time,” Andrew tugged at the corner of his mouth, his doughy face squeezing out a faint smile, ”I got here less than ten minutes ago... just before that Berserk sentinel appeared.”

”Berserk sentinel?” Zheng Qing was unfamiliar with the term.

”They are sentinels for the Mad Hunt, possessing certain characteristics of undead and Magical Creatures, adept at deception, hiding, and ambushing.” Perhaps finding his explanation a tad dry, Andrew further illustrated, ”Think of them as the Hunting dogs that hunters bring along on a hunt, or the ghostly companions that follow a tiger on the prowl.”

”Ah, to act as the accomplice to a tiger,” Zheng Qing immediately formed a clear concept of the word.

Then he redirected his thoughts back to the previous conversation.
