Chapter 968: Chapter 30 Mrs. Pulitzer

Andrew said he was just making a simple record, and indeed it was a very simple one.

After Zheng Qing followed him to the Trident Sword office, he simply filled in a few forms according to the procedure—including his identity information, academic registration, etc.—and then finished by signing off on documents like the assistance in investigation notice, on-site inspection record, and interrogation transcript. The whole process took just over half an hour.

Of course, during this time, the staff of the Trident Sword were always patiently tending to the Speaker Flowers and Shadow Preserving Herbs in the flowerpot, ensuring that the entire investigation process was well-documented.

Once the investigation was over and he was about to leave the office, Andrew reminded him, ”Based on the current investigation, since it was a descendant of Satoguya who initiated the aggression, even if you really did explode it, you probably won’t need to bear civil liability... Of course, what I’m saying is just speculation until the official conclusion is reached.”

Zheng Qing, upon hearing this, felt a lot more relieved and thanked Andrew repeatedly with gratitude.

Andrew blinked, his tone becoming much friendlier, ”Upholding justice and peace, protecting the fundamental rights of wizards, is what we at the Magic Association Investigation Bureau ought to do... Rest assured, we absolutely won’t let a hero shed blood and tears!”

The last sentence was so striking that Zheng Qing got goosebumps on his back.

This was odd, very odd.

Zheng Qing pondered deeply, with different thoughts springing up in his mind.

This was not his first encounter with the round-faced chubby guy. The very first time he was able to discuss gambling and such with Thomas in front of Zheng Qing made it clear that this was not a very rule-abiding fellow.

Such an unruly fellow using ’official speech’ in front of him obviously wasn’t normal.

While Zheng Qing was mulling this over, they had already stepped out of the office door and stopped. Andrew didn’t immediately wave goodbye to Zheng Qing; instead, he introduced him to a lady standing at the door.

”This is Mr. Zheng Qing. If there’s anything you need, feel free to consult with him,” Andrew said with a friendly face, his eyes smiling into slits, and even a hint of a flattering tone in his voice, ”...And of course, if needed, the Magic Association Investigation Bureau will send professional staff to assist with your work.”

She was a capable-looking young witch dressed in a blue-gray diagonal twill soft woolen robe, hair done up in a snail bun, wearing a pair of red-framed rimless glasses. Her cheeks were gaunt, her lips thin, painted with pearl-colored lipstick, with a black messenger bag slung over her shoulder, grasping a notebook in one hand, the other hand reaching out towards Zheng Qing.

”Thank you if necessary,” said the unfamiliar woman as she grabbed Zheng Qing’s shoulder, gripping tightly as if an eagle was pinning down a rabbit, with a hint of excitement in her eyes.

Zheng Qing’s mouth twitched, and he put a bit of force into his feet, attempting to break free from the lady’s hold.

But his effort was immediately in vain.

For Andrew’s hand was pressing down on his other shoulder, anchoring him even more firmly in place.

”This lady is a senior journalist from the Beta Town Post, Miss Pulitzer,” the Trident Sword commissioner said seriously to Zheng Qing, hinting, ”You might need to cooperate with Miss Pulitzer later for a brief interview... Don’t worry, the Beta Town Post is the oldest newspaper on Buji Island and an authoritative media source in the Wizard World, with a very good reputation.”

At the same time, Miss Pulitzer also extended her hand towards Zheng Qing in a very friendly manner.

”Good afternoon... I’m pleased to meet you, Mr. Zheng Qing,” she said, her enunciation clear, her voice somewhat high-pitched but not grating, creating a crisp impression.

Zheng Qing, befuddled, took her hand and shook it.

Miss Pulitzer immediately let go of the hand she had on the warlock’s shoulder and turned to Commissioner Andrew, ”I greatly appreciate the Magic Association Investigation Bureau’s assistance... Then we won’t disturb you any further.”

Andrew, like a startled rabbit, took two steps back, then realized and smiled awkwardly, waving his hands repeatedly, ”Not at all, not at all... You’re busy, and I won’t disturb you further.”

Is this still the violent organ of the Mage Alliance? It feels like a henpecked little wife!

Zheng Qing gently took a breath of cool air.

”Do I need to do any preparation or something?” Watching Commissioner Andrew’s retreating back, he turned his head towards the journalist lady beside him and cautiously asked.

”No, no need, we’re just going to have a simple interview,” Miss Pulitzer’s lips curved up, her pearl-colored lipstick shimmering in the bleak winter sunlight like the edge of a sharpened blade, sending a shiver down the young warlock’s spine.

With that, she looked around, then pointed to a café not far from the Trident Sword office and said, ”Let’s sit there... It won’t take much of your time.”

Without further ado, she pulled Zheng Qing into the café.

Zheng Qing didn’t even get a clear look at the name of the café.

Once seated, before the warlock could speak, Miss Pulitzer very directly inquired, ”Mocha? Latte? Or cappuccino?”

Zheng Qing usually only drank tea, and had no idea what the difference between those terms was.

Thus, he tentatively asked in a low voice, ”Is there jasmine tea? Or some green tea like Tieguanyin would also be fine...”

The sprite waiter who had just flown over immediately answered, ”I’m sorry, sir, we are a coffee shop and only serve coffee drinks; we don’t offer tea, very sorry!”

Zheng Qing naturally couldn’t hold a sprite to the same standard, but given the sprite’s pleasant manner, the ’I’ll have a glass of water’ that was on the tip of his tongue was swallowed back.

”Then I’ll have a black coffee,” he licked his lips, ordering with an uncertain tone.

Miss Pulitzer nodded slightly and snapped her fingers, ”Two espressos.”

Accompanying her snap, the café’s sprite bowed slightly and vanished on the spot with a ’pop’. The two sounds overlapping made Zheng Qing unexpectedly feel a sense of peculiar harmony.

While waiting for the fresh coffee, a business card was slid towards Zheng Qing by Miss Pulitzer from across the table.

Beta Town Post

Senior Editor and Chief Journalist, In-charge of the ’Truth’ Column

Luwei Pulitzer (Miss)

Beside the name was a small emblem, which Zheng Qing guessed might be the Pulitzer family’s crest. Below the name were the contact details for the Beta Town Post and Miss Pulitzer’s paper crane secret spell.

Zheng Qing carefully pressed the thin card under his hand, then raised his head to look at the witch sitting opposite.

”How may I assist you?” he tried to appear as natural as possible.

Miss Pulitzer smiled slightly, didn’t speak immediately, but opened her law book and cast a spell.

”A simple Quiet Barrier, to ensure our conversation goes undisturbed,” Miss Pulitzer explained.
