Chapter 982: Chapter 44 Two Theorems on Magic Power Theory

Korma had arranged quite ordinary tasks for Zheng Qing and the others.

Of course, this ”ordinary” refers only to the ”snap snap magic” she had mentioned earlier. In fact, Zheng Qing felt that the tasks Korma had set up for them afterward were not simple at all. This made him vaguely regretful deep down.

The reason it was considered ordinary was that the tasks the Witch had given them were very ”academy-like” magical works—such as constructing Arrays, outlining Talismans, concocting potions, and so on, among which Zheng Qing and the other two could each find tasks belonging to themselves.

The reason it was not simple was that her requirements often exceeded what lower-grade college students could achieve. For example, Zheng Qing’s part of the Talisman task involved many Basic Runes that weren’t even covered in the fourth-grade textbooks. Only a ”professional” like him, who had mastered the complete set of Basic Runes and had studied ancient Talismans for most of the semester, could barely complete the task.

”This task, you give us just three credits...” Holding the task list, Zheng Qing rapidly scanned over the requirements and couldn’t help but complain to Korma, ”Isn’t that a bit too cheap...”

The lengthy Parchment list was filled with dense requirements, and Zheng Qing estimated it was at least thirty feet long—not including the additional diagrams of magic circles on several sheets of Parchment.

Before Korma could respond, Xiao Xiao, who had been standing beside and scrutinizing the list, interjected thoughtfully, ”Rather than being too cheap, I’d say it’s a bit overambitious... Excuse me, we’re just freshmen, can we really handle such a project? Moreover, where do you plan to set up this Array?”

Speaking, Xiao Xiao looked around the second-floor hall, evaluating the layout, and finally shook his head, ”The space here is too cramped, and according to your requirements, the overflow of Magic Power when the Array is activated will be very severe... Are you planning to demolish this cottage?”

”Hahaha, worthy of the title ’Doctor’, a specially recruited student eh? Just from the list I gave you, you can figure out so much.” Korma laughed heartily, took out a dusty little bag from her pocket, and placed it in front of the three Warlocks:

”The real magic circle will certainly not be set up here... you just need to sit behind the table and complete my requirements like doing homework. Of course, if you find it uncomfortable to sit, you’re also free to lie on the carpet—in this regard, I have no restrictions.”

Zheng Qing took the dusty bag and reached inside to feel around.

Then he grabbed a stack of peach wood boards for carving Talismans, each of different sizes, some longer than a foot, others just an inch long, all one finger thick, and at a rough estimate, they seemed like different puzzle parts from a giant jigsaw, occasionally revealing mortise and tenon joints.

Feeling inside once more, he pulled out the corresponding Dragons Blood Ink, Yellow Paper, a Talisman pen, cowhide-wrapped herbal ingredients, various gemstones, tools for constructing Arrays, Ink Lines, and so on—a small bag that seemed to contain a dragon.

”What are you planning to do with these things?” Zheng Qing couldn’t help but ask the Witch about the purpose of her actions.

Although such questioning made him seem unprofessional—as professionals never inquire about the purpose behind their client’s commission, focusing only on responsibly completing their own—curiosity took precedence for Zheng Qing once it was piqued.

After all, a cat lived in his heart.

”Which aspect are we supposed to help with?” Zheng Qing cleared his throat, repeating his earlier question, rubbing his hands, ”In your commission requirements, you only noted ’Registered wizard-level Talisman standard’, ’Registered wizard-level Pharmacist standard’, ’Registered wizard-level Divination standard’... To be honest, the request is a bit vague... Of course, not that we don’t meet the requirements...”

”You definitely meet the requirements,” Korma interrupted Zheng Qing’s rambling, smiling, ”A wizard who has mastered all Basic Runes is standing before me, and I could not find a more cost-effective wizard than you. As for my purpose...”

She paused, turned around, and looked toward the center of the hall, where groups of young men and women were sitting together.

”Do you know who the members of Gini Cottage are?” She looked back at Zheng Qing, not waiting for him to speak, and answered herself, ”They are Tricksters... Apart from me, all other club members are Tricksters. And initially, when we were small, they were the friends I played with, grew up with.”

”But now, I am the only one who has shed that embarrassing identity, entered First University, and truly become a Witch.”

”And for them, if nothing changes, as the boy earlier said, from birth to death, they have no hope. I noticed you were quite surprised when you listened to that boy’s answer... But this is the grim future for a Trickster.”

Looking directly at Zheng Qing, Korma’s expression was very solemn, ”My purpose is simple, to create hope for them.”

Truly a grand, admirable thought.

Zheng Qing had this thought cross his mind but also realized it was a very difficult, extremely difficult idea.

”There are extraordinary mortals, and there are ordinary wizards. For this World, no destiny is tragic. Heaven has its order, and all things are mere straws before it.” Xiao Xiao, who had closed his notebook at some point, raised his head and spoke in an even tone, ”If possible, I would like to understand your specific plan.”

Korma looked at him somewhat surprised.

”Of course,” the Witch responded briskly, twirling a slim pencil in one hand, ”The theory is very basic, very simple.”

”If you know the first law of Magic Power, you should understand that Magic Power in the universe is neither created nor disappears out of nowhere, rather it transforms from one form into another, or transfers from one individual to another, while the total energy remains constant. This is one of the most common, most fundamental tenets of the Magic World.”

Saying this, Korma turned her face toward the three Warlocks, her gaze intense, ”What I want to do is simply transfer the slowly wasted Magic Power from certain old, undead, and rigid beings to my friends.”

”What you need to do is help me complete the related transformational Array, ensuring that as much Magic Power as possible is infused into them.”

Speaking, the Witch raised her head, casting a glance at the center of the hall, her eyes alight with spirit, ”If all goes well, in half a year, they too will be able to walk the path of magic beneath the protection of First University, just like us.”

In the center of the hall, more than a dozen young men and women in grey robes sat together, whispering prayers, full of hope. Each face seemed to shine with a hopeful radiance.

Such a scene, just by looking at it, filled one’s heart with joy.
