Chapter 954: Chapter 16 Zheng Qing’s Temporary Residence

In a plain-colored full-length dress with a white apron edged with a frill, she wore round-toed leather shoes, and on her head was a Katyusha with two fuzzy, pointy ears that trembled merrily in tune with her master’s mood.

Even more eye-catching than the pair of fox ears was the fuzzy tip of her tail peeping out from under the hem of her dress—it was as improper for a fox maid to expose her tail as it was for an office worker to walk out without a belt.

As a maid from a major family, Su Ya was still as unqualified as ever.

Of course, it might also be because she was dealing with Zheng Qing.

Perhaps because she’d been frightened to tears by a young scholarship student, or perhaps because she often played with Li Meng, Su Ya wasn’t very cautious around Zheng Qing.

Seeing the little fox lady blocking their way, Xin Fat Man was the first to step forward and chuckled, ”Is there something you need, Sister Ya? Want some help?”

Ruthlessly shameless, utterly without shame.

Zheng Qing cursed Fat Man silently in his heart.

Su Ya let out a gasp and instinctively stepped back, looking as if she’d seen a creepy uncle.

But then, realizing she had shown some ’cowardice,’ which was somewhat embarrassing, she pursed her lips tightly, took a step forward to recover the backward step, and stomped her foot with fierce anger, glaring at Fat Man.

Xin Fat Man smiled sheepishly, stepping back a little from the little fox lady, but he still wore an enthusiastic expression on his face.

Su Ya didn’t pay him any attention and turned her head to look at Zheng Qing.

”Miss ordered you to Greenhill Mansion, she has something to command,” said the little maid, her face taut, trying hard to look formal. However, that little tail dragging under her skirt significantly undermined this effort.

”Miss?!” Hearing these words, Xin Fat Man turned his head back in shock, looking at Zheng Qing, ”She’s looking for you?!”

Anyone with a normal IQ would know who the ’Miss’ the little fox lady referred to was.

That was exactly why Xin Fat Man was shocked—a top beauty from the Wizard World inviting an unknown wizard to her residence sounded suspicious.

Zheng Qing’s face tightened, and he resisted the urge to examine Su Ya’s little tail as he cleared his throat nervously, ”She’s looking for me? What for?”

His two companions also pricked up their ears in unison.

”Oh, I heard she might want you to stay at the mansion these next few days and help take care of the garden... and Poseidon,” Su Ya replied nonchalantly—as if completely unaware that she was using conversational particles, showing a lack of etiquette, and even revealing the intentions of the household. Not exactly what a qualified maid would do.

Though she wasn’t really considered a qualified maid to begin with.

Hearing Su Ya’s response, Zheng Qing was still pondering how to reply when Doctor Xiao stroked his chin and intervened, ”Tsk... Not even trying to keep it secret anymore, are we?”

There was a double meaning in his words.

Hearing this, Zheng Qing felt a chill run down his spine, cold sweat trickling under his thick cotton clothes. He had long suspected Xiao Xiao might have noticed something odd, but there had never been any concrete evidence.

Today, it seemed the doctor truly had suspicions about his relationship with Su Shijun.

Despite this, he absolutely could not admit it.

”Ha, haha, what nonsense,” he gave a forced laugh to the doctor and then turned to look at Su Ya, offering an excuse, ”Doesn’t your mansion have plenty of people? Why do you need me... I’m a bit busy recently, can’t really spare the time.”

Su Ya’s ears perked up on her head, and her gaze turned a bit fierce, ”Say that again.”

In her hands, unbeknownst to when, she held a pot with Speaker Flowers, the size of a fist, in full bloom; its wide-open blooms unabashedly faced the young wizard.

Zheng Qing had no doubt that every word he was about to say would be relayed to Su Shijun’s ears by the little flower.

”Brother Qing means that he needs to wash up, dress properly, and then go; he can’t forsake the proprieties, can he?” Xin Fat Man clutched Zheng Qing’s shoulder, chuckling, and volunteered himself for a role: ”As Brother Qing’s image consultant and spokesperson, I have the responsibility and obligation to accompany him to help out. We can’t disgrace our Absolution Knight Group!”

When he mentioned the Absolution Knight Group, the fat man even deliberately straightened his back to signify the gravity of the matter. However, his round, protruding belly made the gesture seem comical rather than anything else.

Zheng Qing smirked but offered no comment on Xin Fat Man’s words.

The fat man’s intention was obvious—he wanted to hitch a ride on Zheng Qing’s coattails for a tour of Greenhill Mansion. With some luck, he might even get to speak with the owner, the stunning Su Daxu; or at the very least, he could familiarize himself with the mansion, which might come in handy for future odd jobs.

”Just you alone!” Su Ya flatly rejected the image consultant’s suggestion, extending her tiny index finger to point at the young cost student, emphasizing, ”Now, immediately, without delay!”

Her ears stood erect, her tone resolute, her voice brooking no argument.

Zheng Qing felt a sense of bitterness in his heart.

Next to him, Xiao Xiao offered a suggestion: ”Since that’s the case, Brother Qing, you go ahead and deal with that... Later, we can meet at D&K.”

With that, he waved his hand and walked away.

”I’ll be waiting... and so will you.” Xin Fat Man glared deeply at the young cost student, fiercely patted his shoulder again, and turned to follow Xiao Xiao’s departing figure.

Zheng Qing winced, tentatively touching his shoulder.

He was quite convinced that the fat man had just cracked his shoulder blade.

”Let’s go,” said the young warlock wearily to the little fox lady, filled with worry.

He had already begun to contemplate the excuses he would make to his companions that evening.

...

At number fifty-four, Beta Town West District, Greenhill Mansion.

This was not Zheng Qing’s first visit to the beautiful mansion with its lovely garden.

Outside the fence, the creek flowed gently as always, colorful fish flitting through the vibrant pebbles, frolicking and playing, making the splendid flowerbed inside the fence seem even more peaceful and picturesque.

Several Flower Sprites carefully poked their heads through the gaps in the fence to sip nectar. Hearing someone approaching, they instantly withdrew their heads, flapped their thin little arms and legs, and vanished in a puff of smoke at the end of the fence in the dirt mounds.

This made the little fox lady somewhat displeased.

”They act like they’ve seen a ghost at the sight of me,” Su Ya pouted, feeling somewhat indignant, ”as if anyone would go out of their way to catch them.”

Zheng Qing rolled his eyes and glanced down at the little fox lady.

”I recall Sister Su Man has always been insisting you take care of those little guys in the garden, hasn’t she?” he kindly reminded.

Su Ya came to a realization immediately.

”I mean, after I send you inside, I’ll come out right away to catch them!” The little fox lady’s ears twitched, and she clenched her fist, waving it vigorously in front of Zheng Qing.

It was unclear whether she was threatening the Flower Sprites or warning a certain warlock not to talk too much in front of the Head Maid.
