The Beautiful CEO's Personal Mad Doctor

Chapter 495: Chapter 495: Dr. Cheng Uses Observation Examination

Unaware of the online viewers’ anxiety, Cheng Yuan ambled toward patient number one.

Park Hao, on the other hand, strode briskly, reaching patient number ten in just a few steps!

Without a word, Park Hao placed his hand on the patient’s wrist and began to earnestly take his pulse.

Meanwhile, Cheng Yuan was still several meters away from patient number one.

Seeing this, the online viewers from Dragon Country sank deeper into despair. ’This young man is so unreliable! Can’t he hurry up a little?’

’Park Hao has already started taking a pulse, but he’s still swaggering along with his Eighth Master’s Step!’

’Is he not the least bit anxious?’

The Divine Doctors from Dragon Country were also anxious, but they didn’t hurry Cheng Yuan along.

Patient number one was named Yu Dakuan. Seeing Cheng Yuan approach, Yu Dakuan couldn’t help but frown.

”Divine Doctor Jiang, this Dr. Cheng is far too young, isn’t he? Is he even capable? I don’t want him treating me! Can you switch me to an older Divine Doctor?”

Jiang Daoyue replied in a calm voice, ”Divine Doctor Cheng’s medical skills far surpass my own. Please rest assured, Mr. Yu!”

With Jiang Daoyue’s assurance, Yu Dakuan breathed a small sigh of relief and reluctantly extended his arm.

But to Yu Dakuan’s surprise, Cheng Yuan showed no intention of taking his pulse. He walked right past him and approached patient number two.

Yu Dakuan instantly grew anxious. ”Dr. Cheng, I know I questioned you just now, and I can apologize for that! But you’re a doctor! You shouldn’t hold a grudge against a patient. Why did you just skip me?”

It wasn’t just Yu Dakuan; the other Divine Doctors were also completely bewildered.

’This can’t be right!’

’Given the medical ethics Divine Doctor Cheng displayed earlier, he shouldn’t be holding a grudge against a patient!’

The live chat absolutely exploded.

The viewers from Country H were laughing hysterically.

”Hahaha, Dragon Country’s Dr. Cheng is hilarious! He’s actually holding a grudge against a patient! With that kind of professionalism, how good could his skills possibly be? It’s an insult to Teacher Pu to have him compete against someone like this!”

”Just treat this as a comedy show! Judging by this Dr. Cheng’s performance, Traditional Chinese Medicine doesn’t even qualify to be a branch of our Korean Medicine!”

Even the viewers from Dragon Country were getting frustrated.

”What on earth is that Dr. Cheng doing? Is he throwing a tantrum? Does he not realize what’s at stake here?”

”I guess it’s true what they say: you can’t trust someone so young and inexperienced! I really don’t understand why Divine Doctor Jiang let Dr. Cheng take his place!”

”Sigh, this Cheng guy is going to ruin the reputation of all of Dragon Country’s Traditional Chinese Medicine!”

...

Amidst the chorus of doubt, Cheng Yuan simply smiled at Yu Dakuan.

”Mr. Yu, I’m a doctor. Why would I throw a tantrum at you? I’ve already finished diagnosing your condition.”

’Already finished diagnosing?’

Yu Dakuan started to get angry. ”Dr. Cheng, are you kidding me? You didn’t ask me what was wrong, and you didn’t take my pulse. How could you have possibly diagnosed my condition?”

Cheng Yuan replied earnestly, ”Traditional Chinese Medicine has four diagnostic methods. I used the one called Observation Examination.”

Yu Dakuan didn’t quite understand. He looked questioningly at the Divine Doctors nearby. ”Is what Dr. Cheng said true? Can you really diagnose an illness with the Observation Examination?”

’Observation Examination??’

The Divine Doctors exchanged bewildered glances.

’The Observation Examination can certainly diagnose conditions with obvious external symptoms, but Yu Dakuan doesn’t have any!’

Of course, the Divine Doctors weren’t about to reveal their own ignorance.

Divine Doctor Jiang said thoughtfully, ”Traditional Chinese Medicine does indeed have its four methods of diagnosis. Under certain circumstances, the Observation Examination can in fact be used to diagnose an illness.”

This helped Yu Dakuan relax a little.

The audience from Dragon Country also breathed a sigh of relief. ’If Divine Doctor Jiang says so, then maybe it’s really possible to diagnose an illness with just the Observation Examination?’

However, the two Korean Medicine judges kept shaking their heads. Clearly, they didn’t believe the Observation Examination was a valid diagnostic tool.

’What a joke.’

Cheng Yuan paid no mind to what others thought. He was diagnosing patients with incredible speed—no more than three seconds per person. In the blink of an eye, he’d already seen seven or eight patients.

Park Hao’s pulse examinations, however, took a minimum of twenty seconds each.

As a result, by the time Cheng Yuan reached the eighth patient, Park Hao had only finished with his third.

Cheng Yuan shot Park Hao a wide grin. ”Dr. Park, you’d better hurry up. I’m almost finished!”

Park Hao had been completely absorbed in taking the pulse and only just realized that Cheng Yuan was already on his eighth patient.

Confused, Park Hao shot a questioning look at the two Korean Medicine judges. One of them chuckled and said, ”Teacher Pu, that Dr. Cheng is using the Observation Examination. He’s incredibly fast—three seconds a patient, tops.”

PFFT...

Park Hao couldn’t help but let out a laugh.

It took a great deal of willpower for Park Hao to stifle his laughter. He put on a mock-sincere expression and said, ”Dr. Cheng, you’re truly amazing! You’ll have to teach me how to diagnose illnesses with the Observation Examination sometime!”

Cheng Yuan grinned. ”I suppose I could teach you the Observation Examination, but you’d have to formally serve me tea and acknowledge me as your master.”

”Tch!~”

Park Hao curled his lip in disdain and returned to his pulse-taking.

By the time he finished diagnosing the third patient, Cheng Yuan had already begun to write, his pen flying across the paper.

By the time Cheng Yuan had finished writing down all his diagnoses, Park Hao was just starting on his fifth patient. Cheng Yuan was already getting impatient.

”Hey, Park, are you going to make it or not? I’m about to fall asleep over here. Can you speed it up?”

The two Korean Medicine judges protested.

”Dr. Cheng, you cannot disrupt Teacher Pu while he is taking a pulse! This is unsportsmanlike conduct! Your behavior is irresponsible toward the patients!”

Cheng Yuan let out a cold snort. Without arguing, he simply closed his eyes to rest.

After another five minutes, Park Hao finally finished his diagnoses. He let out a long breath and began to write furiously.

By the time Park Hao finished writing, Cheng Yuan had let out several yawns.

Park Hao put down his pen and shot Cheng Yuan a challenging look. ”Young man, speed is useless. Accuracy is what counts! Let’s submit our diagnoses!”

Cheng Yuan shrugged. ”Why can’t you be both fast and accurate?”

With that, they both submitted their diagnostic results.

The panel of judges began passing their answers around for review.

It only took one glance for the Traditional Chinese Medicine judges to relax.

”They match! They match! They still match! All the diagnoses are identical! Divine Doctor Cheng is incredible! To diagnose the patients’ conditions using only the Observation Examination!”

The Korean Medicine judges, however, were left completely speechless.

’How is this possible?’

’That kid didn’t take their pulses at all!’

’He diagnosed their conditions just by using the Observation Examination?’

’How on earth did he do that?’

Park Hao, in particular, found this result impossible to accept.

He could have accepted the matching diagnoses for the other patients, but for patient number four to be a match as well? That was something he absolutely could not stomach.

Patient number four was a plant, arranged by Park Hao. He was a retired Warrior who had been wounded by a bomb during a mission. Six pieces of shrapnel had been removed from his body!

However, the medical equipment at the time wasn’t advanced enough to detect microscopic fragments, so a 0.02-millimeter piece of shrapnel was left inside him.

Whenever the weather was rainy or overcast, the site of the shrapnel would produce a dull ache.

It wasn’t until recently, when Country H acquired a new medical device just invented by the Americans, that this tiny piece of shrapnel was finally discovered.

This piece of shrapnel was Park Hao’s ace in the hole!

Park Hao was absolutely certain that not even the most skilled master of pulse diagnosis could detect that piece of shrapnel. And yet, Cheng Yuan had made the correct diagnosis with just a single glance!

’Can someone please tell me, what in the world is going on here?’
