Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1487: Chapter 1489: Compensation for Medical Expenses

”Exactly, there are so many people here, and it’s so dangerous!”

”Don’t think it’s not a sharp weapon, but swinging it and hitting the head, that’s no joke!”

The parents of that child were shouting at Old Meng like they were firing off a barrage of cannon shots, one after the other.

Meanwhile, the child continued to cry and complain of a headache.

Meng Xi only felt a headache himself, with his temples throbbing unbearably.

His sleep quality was too poor lately, and when something weighed on his mind, he found himself unable to sleep all night. Just last night, he kept thinking about what to say to Chiang Xiao today, which resulted in a sleepless night.

Now, with these people shouting at him, the child’s loud crying, and his toes throbbing with pain, he was finding it hard to cope.

Old Tang had just gone to confirm the menu with the restaurant manager. When he came back, he heard a commotion inside and couldn’t help but feel a jolt of alarm.

Could something have happened?

It had been a long time since he had hosted a banquet, and he hadn’t expected those few relatives to bring all their children, resulting in a table being added at the last minute. That’s why he went to confirm with the restaurant to ensure there was enough food.

But what he didn’t expect was that in the short time he was away, the children had started making trouble.

When he heard the sound of a child crying, he initially didn’t think of anything else, assuming it was just the kids making a fuss.

”What happened?” He hurried over, only to discover that everyone was crowding around Old Meng.

”Old Tang...”

Old Meng had just started speaking when he was interrupted by the woman who had spoken first, ”Uncle, it was Old Mr. Meng, being careless, he let Xiao Wei play with his cane, and Xiao Wei ended up hitting Xiao Guang on the head!”

Old Meng was so angry he nearly passed out.

When had he ever let the children play with his cane?

If it hadn’t been for someone who had kicked his cane earlier, it would have remained in his hand. It was only after being kicked, he had placed the cane aside, and then the child ran over and took the cane while he wasn’t paying attention. He had clearly asked the woman to call the child back – what had she said at that time?

And now they were claiming he had given the cane to the child to play with of his own accord?

”Now Xiao Guang is crying like this, Uncle, this won’t do. I think we need to take Xiao Guang to the hospital for a check-up. It’s the head that’s been hit, and this might be serious.” Xiao Guang’s Dad said.

Old Tang was taken aback.

”Right, we can’t delay this. Old Mr. Meng has a car, doesn’t he? People like you can afford to ride in luxury cars,” Xiao Guang’s Mom also said. ”Otherwise, let Old Mr. Meng come with us to the hospital, we can use your car.”

”You can take Xiao Guang to the hospital now, I’ll have Tang Qing arrange a car for you. Why does Old Meng have to go with you?” Old Tang was angry.

Xiao Guang’s Dad said, ”Uncle, that’s not the point, the hits are on the head, we don’t know how serious it is, we need to have Old Mr. Meng with us, what if the medical bills are too expensive, where would we get the money to pay?”

Old Meng’s chest heaved, eyes darkening with waves of anger.

So they want him to pay for the medical expenses?

Does this mean the child’s injury is being pinned on him as his responsibility?

What about his reputation?

Old Tang’s face was also turning green with rage.

He never imagined that hosting a banquet could lead to such a mess. If he had known this would happen, how could he have agreed to invite these people on a whim?

Are they intent on ruining his birthday celebration?

Tang Qing also knew something had gone wrong inside and was about to enter when Yun Xian and Chiang Xiao had already arrived.

”Tang Qing.”

Tang Qing turned around, saw them, and quickly greeted them.
