Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1451: Chapter 1453: Their Future

Chiang Xiao just made a noncommittal hmm, not going into detail.

Her relationship with these roommates, both in her past and present life, was never close enough to share everything.

If she said it wasn’t true, then they would ask her where she went. She would have to reveal that she owns a courtyard house in Capital City and then bring Meng Xinian into the conversation.

Since they weren’t that close, Chiang Xiao didn’t plan to tell them.

In fact, at dinner last night, she had also warned Jin Lei not to disclose her private matters.

Although Jin Lei was initially shocked by her engagement, he quickly came to terms with it.

He had heard that when the college entrance examination was reinstated a few years ago, many who had already married and had children went back to university. In one class, students were of all ages, some even middle-aged with white hair.

These cases have become less frequent over the years, but still, a college student getting married isn’t really big news. Besides, Chiang Xiao was only engaged, not married yet.

Jin didn’t know Commander Meng’s plans.

If he did, he wouldn’t have said that now Meng Xinian had already planned to register their marriage as soon as Chiang Xiao turned eighteen.

”Chiang Xiao, let me ask you something,” Lee Mei moved closer, casually sitting on her bed, ”What’s your major like? What do you think about me transferring to your class?”

The school says, you can apply to change your major within one month of the start of the term.

Chiang Xiao was taken aback, ”Why are you thinking of changing your major? I thought you weren’t very interested in painting?”

”It’s true I’m not very interested, but the meticulous traditional Chinese painting we are doing now is too annoying. It’s very detailed, every stroke must be finely drawn, I can’t stand it. I heard in your major, with oil painting, you can just splash on the paint?”

Upon hearing Lee Mei’s reason, Chiang Xiao couldn’t help but feel a mix of amusement and disbelief.

For someone like Lee Mei, studying fine arts really was too difficult, but she still rushed headlong into it.

Chiang Xiao didn’t know if she would drop out halfway through in this lifetime, but she felt unable to help Lee Mei with such a decision.

”Although oil painting seems more free-spirited than meticulous traditional painting, it also has its intricacies. A painting still requires several refinements. If you’re not sure, you might try attending a class in our department to see.”

Lee Mei seemed a bit troubled upon hearing this.

She then turned to Xie Landi, who was always busy with something, and asked, ”What about you, Xie Landi? Do you want to change your major?”

Xie Landi quickly shook her head and said, ”No, I’m not changing. I’ve already found out that in our current major, if you get good at it, you can start taking on some jobs and make money sooner.”

Chinese painting, oil painting, those majors weren’t affordable for Xie Landi.

She was studying design.

With the increase in factories and shops nowadays, her major was still very popular, and employment after graduation wouldn’t be difficult.

Chiang Xiao had never really understood her before, and upon hearing this, asked, ”Xie Landi, having studied this major, have you thought about what you want to do after graduation?”

Xie Landi, somewhat embarrassed, said: ”Of course, I’ve thought about it. After graduation, I’ll first look for a job in a factory, do some design work, save up some money, and then go back to our county to open a shop.”

”Open a shop? Selling what?” Lee Mei was stunned.

She really didn’t expect someone from their major to think about opening a shop.
