Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1482: Chapter 1484: Don’t Want Such Neighbors

Kuang Yunxian heaved a sigh and said, ”Tong Hui had a high fever when she was little, and it wasn’t brought down in time. Though she survived, from then on, she’s been somewhat mentally impaired.”

Chiang Xiao was taken aback.

So that’s how it is.

No wonder Kuang Kanzhi said that the cousin had always been fostered at her uncle’s home.

Thinking about it, the Zhu Family and Kuang Huizhi probably didn’t want such an imbecilic daughter living at home—perhaps they were afraid of the neighbors seeing her, thinking it would be embarrassing?

But since they insist on having Kuang Yunzhi marry her, doesn’t that mean they still love their daughter? Are they wholeheartedly planning a good future for her?

It’s just that this is really taking advantage of their own family.

Unable to marry her off, and others unwilling to take her, they’re pressuring their own nephew to marry her?

How much must they loathe Kuang Yunxian?

”Brother Kuang, why didn’t you look for a partner earlier on, settle down sooner, so they would have nothing to hope for?” Chiang Xiao said.

Kuang Yunxian gave a wry smile.

After a short pause, he said softly, ”I did have talks, with two different women, but both were sabotaged.”

Chiang Xiao was startled again.

Kuang Yunxian had already been involved with two possible matches?

Seeing her misunderstanding, Kuang Yunxian felt a bit awkward and quickly said, ”I’ve never really been involved, just met them through introductions.”

The first match he met, he was only eighteen or nineteen years old, and so was the girl—a beautiful young lady with an elegant and confident demeanor.

At that time, he felt it was possible, at least he was initially fond of her, so he agreed to see where it might go. But just a few days later, that girl came to him and said that she had heard he and his cousin had been close since they were kids and were even intimate; she couldn’t be the third party and decisively broke it off with him.

Of course, Kuang Yunxian knew it was his younger aunt making up rumors. He tried to explain to the girl, but she avoided him. After being snubbed for half a month, he gave up.

With the second match, he didn’t feel much for the girl, but she liked him a lot, consistently reaching out to him and even giving him many gifts.

At that time, he was just over twenty and couldn’t withstand such enthusiasm. Just as he was starting to reciprocate, his younger aunt Kuang Huizhi acted again.

It was the same old story, claiming he coaxed his cousin into intimate embraces when he was fourteen or fifteen.

This time he did explain to the girl personally, but she cried so hard her eyes swelled up, refusing to believe him. She demanded all her gifts back, and, along with his younger aunt, spread bad words about him everywhere, saying he might appear to be a gentleman, refined and well-mannered, but in reality, he was a scoundrel in disguise.

Afterwards, for a full three years, the reputation of being a scoundrel followed him, causing many of his friends and classmates to distance themselves from him.

”After that, I lost interest in dating and marriage,” Kuang Yunxian said after recounting those past events, sighing softly, ”Actually, I’m quite comfortable this way. As for marriage, let’s leave it to fate.”

And this is considered ’quite comfortable’?

He’s already in his thirties, if it were twenty or thirty years later, a man in his thirties being unmarried would at most self-deprecatingly joke about being single. There would be so many singles that it wouldn’t be unusual. But in this era, being unmarried in his thirties is indeed quite conspicuous.

Of course, Kuang Yunxian’s marital affairs are none of Chiang Xiao’s concern.

Right now, she simply feels that she truly cannot let Kuang Huizhi’s family move in next to her. But for the moment, she is at a loss for solutions.
