Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1463: Chapter 1465: What Kind of Fate Is This?

Chiang Xiao pressed her lips tightly together, opting not to respond.

She truly did not understand why Kuang Kanzhi felt the need to disclose all this to her.

This should be considered a family matter of Kuang Yunxian’s. Since Kuang Yunxian had no intention of telling her, why did Kuang Kanzhi feel compelled to explain it to her so explicitly?

She stood up, ”Mr. Kuang, I feel that I have no need to know these matters, so, if you’ll excuse me, I should take my leave.”

Kuang Kanzhi raised his hand to signal her to stay, ”Sit down. What’s the rush when you’re so young? There’s a reason why I’m telling you all this.”

Chiang Xiao had no choice but to sit down again.

”I want to tell you this because it concerns the house that Yun Xian’s father purchased back in the day.”

”A house?”

”Yes, that house was bought by my second brother long ago, a siheyuan near Liuli Street. The houses in that neighborhood are all quite nice; you should take a look if you get the chance.”

Chiang Xiao’s heart skipped a beat.

A siheyuan near Liuli Street? Wasn’t that where her house was?

It was the very street where the siheyuan that Meng Xinian gave her was located!

Suddenly, she recalled seeing Kuang Yunxian leisurely strolling around there the other day. Perhaps, his intention was not to find her, but to visit the siheyuan left by his father?

Because on that day she was supposed to be at school.

So, Kuang Yunxian went to look at the house left by his father, and just so happened to also see if he could run into her, right?

She had not expected that the siheyuan Meng Xinian bought for her could have made her neighbors with Kuang Yunxian.

Which one was it?

The siheyuan to her left was very quiet; she had never seen the door open nor heard any noise from inside on her several trips back and forth. Could it be, by some coincidence, right next door?

”Does anyone live in that house now? Brother Kuang doesn’t live there?”

”No one lives there now,” Kuang Kanzhi said with a sigh, ”and the property deeds, title deeds, and keys are all in the hands of Yun Xian’s Aunt. For many years now, Yun Xian has been trying to get them back, but his aunt refuses.”

No one lives there?

Could it really be that one?

Chiang Xiao couldn’t help feeling how unpredictable and full of coincidences life was.

”Why? Isn’t it Brother Kuang’s property?”

”This is what I was saying before, my younger siblings had jointly done business in the early years, and now none of us really know how they divided things back then. After Second Brother and his wife passed away, Third Brother and Little Sister claimed they also invested in the siheyuan and each bore one third of the cost with my Second Brother.”

”Aren’t there documents or contracts that can clarify this?”

”No. They weren’t ordinary business partners; they were siblings. Many things back then were carried out without official documentation. However, Yun Xian’s Mother proclaimed before she died that the siheyuan had been bought with their own money, and had nothing to do with Third Brother and Little Sister. They had already divided the profits from their business ventures at the time, and the portion they were due had long been taken.”

Upon hearing this, Chiang Xiao forgot her previous dislike of Kuang Kanzhi.

”Yun Xian’s Mother was a very upright and honest person, and I still believe what she said. However, Third Brother and Little Sister insist they each contributed money, and they told Yun Xian that if he wants the house back, he has to repay their share of the investment.”

”How much money?”

Kuang Kanzhi shook his head, ”How much they initially invested is no longer important, now they want to be paid based on the current value of the siheyuan.”

Chiang Xiao was taken aback.

The siheyuan that Meng Xinian bought for her cost two hundred thousand, but that was because the owner urgently needed the money to go abroad.
