Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1461: Chapter 1463: Not Scary-Looking

While Chiang Xiao was sizing up Kuang Kanzhi, Kuang Kanzhi was also taking the measure of Chiang Xiao.

This young girl seemed taller than other girls her age, with an excellent posture, standing gracefully and upright. And she was very beautiful, to boot.

What was most special were her eyes, she had a pair of very beautiful eyes, the kind that were incredibly clear, yet they did not possess the naive romanticism typical of girls her age; they were serene instead.

These eyes were a significant plus for her.

Her demeanor was also steady, she really didn’t exude that naive, childish air of a young girl who knows little of the world.

At this moment, Kuang Kanzhi believed what Kuang Qingqing had said.

Kuang Qingqing mentioned that Yun Xian had taken a liking to the young girl named Chiang Xiao.

At that time, Kuang Kanzhi didn’t believe it, but upon seeing Chiang Xiao, he felt it was very possible.

Yun Xian wouldn’t fancy a girl so young, but what if this girl, despite her youth, looked mature beyond her years?

”You are Chiang Xiao?”

”I am.”

”Come in, take a seat,” said Kuang Kanzhi indifferently, void of any enthusiasm.

Chiang Xiao had only heard of Kuang Kanzhi; she didn’t know if this was his usual demeanor, or if he simply didn’t like her in particular.

However, whether he liked her or not didn’t matter to her.

She didn’t need his approval.

She sat opposite him, and Kuang Kanzhi signaled for the meal to be served.

He didn’t plan to wait for her to arrive to ask what she liked to eat; the meal had been ordered in advance, indicating that he had arrived earlier.

Chiang Xiao didn’t mind it either.

The dishes were served promptly.

The two of them, three dishes and a soup, all very standard fare.

”Let’s eat first, and talk later,” he suggested.

”Okay.”

Chiang Xiao was not shy; she was hungry already.

Initially, she had planned to have a simple bowl of noodles by herself at home tonight, but since someone was offering a meal, she wouldn’t hold back.

Yet, seeing Kuang Kanzhi’s manner, she had a premonition that the conversation to follow might not be to her liking.

So, she decided it was better to eat her fill first, in case she lost her appetite later.

Kuang Kanzhi displayed excellent table manners while eating.

They ate without speaking, quickly finishing the meal.

Soon enough, Chiang Xiao was full.

Upon seeing her put down her chopsticks, Kuang Kanzhi also set his own down, wiped his mouth with a napkin, and called for the waiter to clear the table.

”Bring us a pot of tea.”

A pot of tea right after the meal?

This surely signaled a thorough discussion was in order.

Chiang Xiao remained quiet.

”Did the food suit your taste?” Kuang Kanzhi asked.

Chiang Xiao nodded: ”It’s fine, I’m not picky about food.”

After this formality of an opening line, Kuang Kanzhi said, ”It seems Student Chiang Xiao is not at all afraid of me?”

”Mr. Kuang doesn’t look scary,” Chiang Xiao replied.

Kuang Kanzhi simply chuckled.

Of course, he doesn’t look scary.

He’d even been dubbed one of the four handsome men of the literary world, although that was in his younger days.

But the kind of scary he was asking about wasn’t the kind that had to do with looks.

Many of his students were afraid of him, as he was very serious.

However, to his surprise, this young girl Chiang Xiao, from her entrance to the present, remained composed and measured, without a hint of nervousness, which was rather astonishing.

”You must be very surprised why I wanted to meet with you, right? Actually, it started with Qingqing mentioning you to me.”

Kuang Qingqing?

”Well then, I guess it’s probably not going to be anything pleasant to hear,” Chiang Xiao said with a slight smile.

On that night, Qingqing’s attitude toward her wasn’t very good after all.
