Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 692: Chapter 693: His Responsibility to Bear

”Family scandals should not be aired in public. In front of outsiders, a father still needs to give his son some face,” he said.

Meng Xinian knew this too.

Old Meng had told him before that a father, caught between his son and grandson, sometimes didn’t know what to say. When the son grows up, the father gets old.

The folks of the Fong family didn’t believe Meng Xinian’s words either.

Based on their understanding of Gao Wei, if it were really him who had hurt Fong Jianye, by now he would have probably run off to hide somewhere, daring not to come to the hospital.

”Brother Meng doesn’t need to discipline his son here. Anyway, let me make it clear, if Jianye is fine, then all is well. But if anything happens to Jianye, however he ends up, that’s how I will want Meng Xinian to end up!” Father Fong said with a heavy voice.

Meng Xinian didn’t speak again. He stood up straight, turned around, and was about to leave.

Fong Jianye’s uncle and brother-in-law reached out to stop him at the same time.

”Where do you think you’re going?”

”I’ve said what I needed to say. I don’t have time to play with you here. Move aside,” Meng Xinian’s tone turned cold.

”You rebel, what else do you want? You beat someone so badly he’s still lying unconscious inside, of course you should wait here! When he wakes up, you’ll have to apologize to him immediately!”

Meng Chaojun strode over, his hand aiming a slap at his head. Meng Xinian bore it stoically but still stood erect.

”Meng Chaojun! What are you hitting him for?!”

Meng Donghai, furious, raised his cane to strike at Meng Chaojun, but Duan Qingqing quickly stepped in front of Meng Chaojun, taking the blow for him. Then pain filled her eyes as tears welled up, and she pitifully shrank her neck.

Seeing his wife like this, Meng Chaojun was extremely pained and embraced her shoulders, ”Qingqing, are you okay?”

”It’s fine, Chaojun, as long as dad isn’t angry with you anymore,” Duan Qingqing softly and weakly replied with her head lowered.

”Did I use too much strength? You’re acting so pitiful, who are you trying to fool!” Meng Donghai shouted angrily, causing Duan Qingqing to cringe again.

Meng Chaojun’s voice sank immediately, ”Dad! Don’t I know your strength? Qingqing is frail, how can she withstand such a blow from the cane?”

”Good, good, so you’re teaching your father a lesson for this woman, aren’t you?” Meng Donghai trembled with rage. He was indeed intending to hit his son, but how could he have used all his strength?

Who asked Duan Qingqing to get in the way?

When a father disciplines his son, does he need a woman to put on an act and intervene?

”Dad, stop making trouble here! You should go back now! There’s no need for you to stay here. This rebel son isn’t that young anymore, you keep protecting him without any principle, that is harming him! He should bear the responsibilities that he ought to bear! Guard Officers!”

Meng Chaojun loudly called over two Guard Officers, his voice stern, ”Watch Meng Xinian! Do not let him leave the hospital! If he resists, you have my permission to draw your guns!”

”Meng Chaojun! You dare!” Meng Donghai shouted.

”Dad, I’ve said it, he must bear the responsibilities that are his!” Meng Chaojun gestured, and the two Guard Officers immediately stood side by side in front of Meng Xinian, their hands resting on their holstered guns.

Meng Xinian’s entire aura was cold and desolate.

He looked coldly at Meng Chaojun, his thin lips curling into a very chilly smile.

His voice was very cold.

”Fine, I shall stay here,” he said.

Having said that, he moved a couple of steps, sat down on a chair, hands casually inserted in his pockets, leaning back, and closed his eyes, seemingly shutting out everything around him.
