Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 662: Chapter 663: It’s His Home Too

The medicinal ingredients seeped into the cup, and that’s why it had such an effect.

Chiang Xiao was left speechless by his question.

How could she know any secret methods for making pigments?

Though precious medicinal materials were available, they were only in the Space.

However, his comments did inspire her a bit. In fact, this could also be turned into a marketing angle: nourishing cups with medicine, a secret pigment formula!

It would be best if she could make the cups herself, so others would think that her pottery also contained medicinal ingredients.

That way, the value of the cups would be greatly increased, and it wouldn’t be easy for others to test them, unless they broke the cups and tested the fragments!

”Daydreaming again?” Meng Xinian hadn’t heard a response from her after a while and couldn’t help but rub his forehead. Why was this girl so easily distracted? Or was the question he asked too difficult to answer?

Chiang Xiao snapped back to reality and hurriedly said, ”I was just thinking about something. When are you going back to the Capital next week? I want to make the cups myself.”

”Make the cups yourself?” Meng Xinian didn’t expect her to come up with such an idea on the fly, brimming with endless creativity, and was momentarily unable to follow her train of thought. ”Why do you want to make the cups yourself? Do you know how to do it?”

”I can make them, but I need to find a place that will fire them for me.”

Chiang Xiao knew how to make cups because she had once worked in a craft pottery bar to earn tuition fees. She had to be trained a bit to work there, then teach customers who came to mold their own creations. When it came to handcraft or creative design, she always had a quick understanding.

At the time, she even designed and made a few vases and cups. The pottery bar owner loved them so much that he bought them to display in the bar to attract customers.

She could mold the pottery, but firing it was more troublesome.

There probably weren’t any small machines for firing handcrafted pottery products available just yet.

”If you want to do it, go ahead. I’ll ask Chu Liang to inquire about a place for firing. As for the house renovation, don’t worry about it for now. I’ll figure out a way to fund the initial costs.”

Meng Xinian didn’t ask further. She wanted to do it, so he decided to find a way to help her with some of the issues.

Waves of warmth surged in Chiang Xiao’s heart. She couldn’t help but ask, ”Do you still have money?”

Being asked by his fiancée like this, Meng Xinian again felt too impoverished. He rubbed his face and said, ”I had a few thousand left before, but I let a friend use it for an investment. I can’t get it back in the short term. So I don’t have much—I can only cover the initial costs for the aggregates, wall paint, and paving stones for the courtyard. I’ll get these sorted out first, and we’ll figure out the rest as we go.”

Although he felt too poor, Meng Xinian at that moment was starting to relish the feeling of building their home with his wife—it wasn’t a bad feeling at all.

Imagining their continual companionship in the house made him eager for the renovation to be completed.

”No need, I’ll figure it out myself,” Chiang Xiao said, not wanting him to overexert himself. But Meng Xinian didn’t take her words too well upon hearing them.

What did she mean by ”herself”?

He had clearly said he wanted to keep a room in that house for himself. He was already prepared to treat that place as his home. So what did she mean by ”I will figure it out myself”?

”It’s my home too,” he stated.

Anyway, no matter what, he had to contribute financially and physically.

”Think about the cups again; I’ll have Chu Liang go and check with the ceramics factories. I still have five days before I go back. If we can’t make it in time, we can deliver them to grandpa next time; no rush.”

It was his home too...
