Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 686: Chapter 687 Are You Stupid or What

So, Gao Wei had already thought of a way out.

If he brought Meng Xinian down, whether he was left dumb or crippled, as long as he wasn’t dead, his family would be able to cover for him.

But he never expected Meng Xinian to be so alert and agile. Even facing two against one, he also having launched a sneak attack, Meng Xinian still managed to dodge it.

What shocked him most was that he inadvertently hit Fong Jianye!

Fong Jianye was Fong Family’s only seedling!

Although the Fong Family couldn’t compare to the Gao Family, for three generations, they had treated him like a treasure. If anything happened to Fong Jianye, from Old Fong to his sisters and their husbands, they would definitely make a huge fuss about it, and even the Gao Family wouldn’t be able to cover it up!

The thought alone panicked Gao Wei out of his wits; how could he even spare a thought to check Fong Jianye’s injuries?

He took to his heels and fled.

By the time he returned home, his face pale as a ghost, stormed into Gao’s Father’s study, his legs betraying him, he collapsed to the floor at once.

Gao’s Father was startled by him, instantly jumping to his feet.

”Xiaowei, what have you done?”

”Dad! I’ve killed Jianye!”

Gao Wei slumped to the floor.

His mind was filled with the image of Fong Jianye’s bloodied head.

On his way home, he had contemplated in a daze, and the more he thought about it, the more he felt Fong Jianye wouldn’t survive.

What if Fong Jianye died?

Gao’s Father felt as if someone had suddenly clutched his heart.

Gao Wei and Fong Jianye had been close enough to wear the same pants since childhood, but together they had also caused plenty of trouble. Gao’s Father had settled numerous issues for them, cleaned up countless messes, but never once had there been an incident between the two of them.

”What are you talking nonsense for? Stand up! Tell me clearly what happened!”

Gao Wei was yanked up by his father and seated in a chair; he told the whole story from beginning to end, in fits and starts.

Upon hearing this, Gao’s Father was furious and wanted to slap him hard, but seeing his son’s already pale face, he relented somewhat. Fong Jianye might be an only child, but wasn’t Gao Wei also an only child?

He too, had been raised and pampered by three generations of the Gao Family.

”Dad, do you think Jianye will die?” Gao Wei looked up at him, ”The blow I dealt him...”

”Shut up!” Gao’s Father shouted sternly, ”It was Meng Xinian who hit him, not you. When did you hit him? Meng Xinian swung his stick at Jianye’s head with such speed, you didn’t even have time to stop it!”

”What?”

”Are you really that stupid?”

Suddenly coming to his senses as if awakening from a dream, Gao Wei understood that from this moment on, his father was taking over the handling of this matter.

He nodded vigorously, ”Dad, I understand, it was Meng Xinian who hit him!”

”Now, go to the Fong Family immediately, tell them Jianye was hit by Meng Xinian, and take some members of the Fong Family over there! No matter what, first check if Jianye can be saved!”

Gao Wei panicked, ”Dad, should I go to Uncle Fong’s alone? If Uncle Fong asks me why I didn’t stay to help Jianye, what should I say?”

”Are you really so stupid!” Gao’s Father scolded, ”Can’t you say that after Meng Xinian knocked Jianye down, he came after you and, thankfully, you were quick enough to escape, otherwise you’d have been laid out too? Also, just say you saw Jianye get hit and fall, don’t mention you saw him get hit on the head or saw any blood from the head! Do you understand?”

Otherwise, no matter the reason, Gao Wei’s fleeing from that situation would be considered disloyal, and thereafter it would be hard to explain to the Fong Family.
