Death Guns In Another World

Chapter 1912 - 1696: A City beneath the waves

The morning sun bathed the coastal city of Velyria in golden light, the ocean waves lapping gently at its pristine shores. Known as the Jewel of the Sea, this city was famous not only for its breathtaking seaside views but for something far more spectacular—its underwater metropolis. Something created through the hands of both humans, elves and now gone dwarves.

A marvel of magic and engineering, Velyriaʼs underwater city lay beneath the crystal-clear waters of the Azure Expanse, a vast and seemingly endless sea. A grand, enchanted dome shielded the submerged metropolis from the crushing depths, allowing air and sunlight to filter through as if the ocean itself had bent to humanityʼs will.

Towering coral-like buildings, infused with magic, glowed softly in hues of blue, violet, and gold. Glass walkways stretched across the bustling city, allowing visitors to admire the vast marine world that surrounded them. Schools of luminescent fish, gentle manta rays, and even the occasional pod of small sea drakes swam freely around the city, as if they were a natural part of its charm.

Alex and Lilith arrived at the main plaza, where a grand aquatic gateway stood. The structure was a massive archway of enchanted coral, pulsating with runic light.

Lilith raised an eyebrow. ”Impressive.”

Alex smirked. ”Just wait until weʼre inside.”

They stepped onto a floating platform, which shimmered before slowly descending beneath the waves. As they sank below the surface, the magic surrounding them activated, encasing them in a thin layer of breathable air.

Within moments, the ocean swallowed them whole, and the city of Velyria Unaterra—the Underwater Haven—revealed itself in all its splendor.

The streets, paved with polished aquamarine stone, stretched out in elegant patterns, leading to grand marketplaces, luxurious sea-view restaurants, and opulent bathhouses.

Above them, the sky was replaced by the dome of shimmering water, giving the illusion that they were walking on the ocean floor. Graceful, glowing jellyfish floated lazily overhead, illuminating the streets like living lanterns.

The citizens of Velyria bustled around them, a mixture of humans, elves, and even the occasional demon kin who had taken residence here. Merchants called out to passersby, offering exotic sea crystals, enchanted pearls, and rare ocean delicacies.

Their first stop was a famous café built into a massive, hollowed-out seashell, where the walls radiated a soothing glow. The tables were made of polished sea glass, and the menu featured delicacies like moon-touched oysters, sapphire shrimp, and abyssal fruit nectar.

Lilith took a sip of her drink, raising an eyebrow. ”This is… unexpectedly good.”

Alex chuckled. ”I told you. Velyria never disappoints.”

After enjoying their meal, they ventured toward the Grand Aqua Bazaar, a sprawling market where vendors sold everything from enchanted weapons infused with ocean magic to clothing made from rare sea-silk.

One particular vendor caught their eye—a craftsman selling living jewelry, accessories made from tiny bioluminescent sea creatures that adjusted their glow based on the wearerʼs emotions.

Lilith examined a delicate bracelet, watching as the soft blue light pulsed against her wrist.

”It reacts to emotions?” she asked.

The vendor nodded eagerly. ”Yes, my lady! If you feel happy, it glows a warm gold. If youʼre angry, it deepens to crimson. And if youʼre…”

He hesitated, glancing at Alex before continuing. ”In love, it turns a soft violet.”

Alex smirked. ”Interesting. You should wear it all day. Iʼd love to see the colors change.”

Lilith rolled her eyes but didnʼt remove it.

Their next stop was the Crystal Canal, a magical waterway where enchanted gondolas floated through the deeper parts of the city, giving passengers a close-up view of the thriving marine ecosystem.

They boarded a sleek, glass-bottomed boat, allowing them to peer directly into the depths below. Schools of shimmering fish darted between the massive ruins of an ancient underwater civilization, their structures now embraced by coral and sea flora.

As they drifted through the city, a soft melody filled the air—a song sung by a group of mermaid performers, their voices hauntingly beautiful as they wove their magic into the water around them.

Lilith leaned back, closing her eyes as she listened.

”This place is truly something else,” she admitted.

Alex watched her, noting the rare peacefulness in her expression.

”Yeah,” he murmured. ”It really is.”

For now, the worries of war and power struggles felt distant.

For now, it was just the two of them, lost in the beauty of a city beneath the waves.

After their enchanting gondola ride, Alex and Lilith continued their date through the wonders of Velyria Unaterra, diving deeper into its most famous attractions.

Their next destination was The Pearlʼs Embrace, an elite café renowned for its ocean-inspired delicacies and mystical ambiance.

The café was nestled inside the hollowed-out remains of a colossal sea beastʼs skeleton, its rib-like structures forming elegant archways that framed the seating areas. Glowing coral chandeliers hung from the ceiling, casting a soft, ethereal light over the tables.

The moment they stepped inside, a gentle, salty breeze drifted through the air, carrying the tantalizing scent of roasted abyssal clams and sweet ocean nectar.

A waitress, a charming woman, greeted them with a graceful bow.

”Welcome, honored guests. Do you prefer a seat by the kelp gardens or the glass-floor terrace?”

Alex glanced at Lilith, who smirked.

”The terrace. Iʼd like a good view.”

The waitress led them to a private table above a transparent floor, where they could see the vibrant marine life below—from majestic manta rays gliding through the depths to bioluminescent squid that pulsed with hypnotic patterns.

After ordering, Alex and Lilith leaned back, taking in the view.

”This place is surreal,” Lilith admitted, watching a school of silverfish weave beneath them.

Alex smirked. ”So youʼre enjoying yourself?”

She took a sip of her Deep Blue Elixir, a refreshing drink made from rare undersea fruits, and sighed in satisfaction. ”I suppose I am.”

Their meal was exquisite—Alex ordered a seared leviathan steak, while Lilith tried a delicate sea-dragon sashimi platter infused with a hint of magical ice.

Between bites, Lilith suddenly glanced at Alex and smirked. ”You do realize this is a date, right?”

Alex, cutting into his steak, met her gaze with amusement. ”Oh? So you admit it?”

She rolled her eyes but didnʼt deny it.

After their leisurely café stop, they decided to visit the Grand Museum of Oceanic Wonders, a vast underwater archive filled with ancient artifacts, magical relics, and the preserved remains of legendary sea creatures.

The museumʼs entrance was marked by two massive statues of the Abyssal Lords, ancient beings said to have once ruled the ocean depths. Their carved eyes seemed to follow visitors as they passed through the grand doors.

Inside, the main exhibition hall showcased an enormous skeleton of a Leviathan, its sheer size so immense that it spanned the entire chamber.

Lilith whistled softly. ”Hard to believe creatures like this actually existed.”

Alex smirked. ”They still do. You just donʼt see them unless they want to be seen.”

They wandered through the halls, stopping by a collection of enchanted pearls that contained glimpses of the oceanʼs past.

One pearl shimmered, revealing an illusion of a massive war between merfolk and deep-sea abominations, their tridents clashing in eerie silence.

Another held an image of a lost underwater kingdom, its ruins now home to glowing corals and strange, shadowy figures.

Lilith lingered in front of a display featuring the Crown of Nyxus, a legendary artifact said to grant dominion over all creatures of the sea.

”Imagine if we had that,” she mused.

Alex chuckled. ”Youʼd probably make the ocean your personal army.”

She smirked. ”Maybe.”

By the time they left the museum, it was well past noon, and hunger began to creep back in.

Lilith led the way to The Oceanʼs Serenade, a world-famous restaurant built at the very edge of Velyria Unaterra, where the city met the vast, endless ocean beyond the dome.

Unlike the other parts of the underwater city, this restaurant had an open-air dining concept, with magical barriers allowing fresh ocean air while keeping the water at bay.

The ceiling was a shimmering forcefield, allowing them to gaze up at the surface of the ocean from below. The light from the sun refracted through the water, painting everything in rippling golden hues.

As they were seated at a private balcony overlooking the open sea, a waiter brought out an elegant bottle of deep-sea wine, a specialty only found in Velyria.

Alex raised an eyebrow as Lilith poured herself a glass. ”Drinking in the middle of the day?”

She smirked. ”What? You afraid you canʼt keep up?”

Chuckling, Alex took his own glass, enjoying the smooth yet slightly salty taste of the wine.

Their lunch consisted of rare ocean delicacies, including:

Skywhale Carpaccio, thinly sliced and seasoned with deep-sea spices.

Golden Lobster Tail, roasted over enchanted blue fire.

Tidal Fruit Sorbet, a refreshing dessert that melted in their mouths.

As they ate, the ocean beyond them shimmered, and a pod of massive sea serpents swam past the restaurant, their sleek, scaled bodies reflecting the sunlight like liquid silver.

Lilith rested her chin on her hand, watching the creatures with interest.

”I could get used to this.”

Alex smirked. ”So could I.”

For a moment, the two simply enjoyed the atmosphere—the peaceful lull of the ocean, the hushed murmurs of other diners, and the sheer beauty of the world beneath the waves.
