Death Guns In Another World

Chapter 1906 - 1691: Life at the acedemy

The sun rose over Freya Academy, casting golden light upon the grand coliseum that stood at the heart of the campus. Today was a day of excitement, a day when the academyʼs youngest warriors would step onto the battlefield for the first time to prove their skills.

It was the annual First-Year Combat Competition, an event designed to test the studentsʼ progress and determine the rising stars of the academy.

The coliseum was packed with students and faculty members, all eager to witness the battles. Upperclassmen, veterans of past competitions, watched from the stands, evaluating the new generation. Professors observed with keen eyes, searching for talent that would shape the future.

Banners of Freya Academy fluttered in the wind, displaying the academyʼs sigil—a phoenix rising from a sword.

A deep voice echoed across the arena as Headmaster Alden, an elder knight with a commanding presence, stepped onto the platform overlooking the battlefield.

”Welcome, students, to this yearʼs First-Year Combat Competition!” His voice carried through the coliseum, amplified by magic. ”Today, you shall display your strength, your intelligence, and your determination. Fight with honor, fight with courage, and may the best warriors rise above the rest!”

A wave of cheers erupted from the audience.

Then, the battles began.

The Rules of the Competition are the following.

The competition was structured into three main phases:

1. Preliminary Rounds – One-on-one duels to determine the top sixteen students.

2. Quarterfinals & Semifinals – Tactical battles with magical and weapon-based combat.

3. The Final Round – The two strongest students face off in an intense duel.

Victory conditions:

• A match ends when a student is either incapacitated, forced to surrender, or thrown out of the arena boundaries.

• Lethal attacks were strictly forbidden, with magical barriers in place to prevent serious injuries.

The students lined up, each of them eager to carve their names into academy history.

Preliminary Rounds started – The First Battles Begin.

The first duels began with students wielding various weapons and magic.

The first match was between Cedric, a swordsman specializing in wind magic, and Elisa, a mage with mastery over earth magic.

Cedric moved like the wind, dashing across the battlefield with incredible speed. His sword strikes were fluid and precise, wind currents boosting his movements. Elisa, however, stood firm, manipulating the ground beneath her to form towering stone barriers and sharp spikes to counter his attacks.

The battle ended when Cedric, in a moment of brilliance, used a burst of wind to leap high into the air, flipping over Elisaʼs defenses and landing a decisive strike on her shoulder. The impact forced her to surrender.

”Winner: Cedric!”

Another notable battle featured Darren, a battle axe wielder, versus Lillian, a dual-dagger assassin.

Darren was a powerhouse, his axe swings carrying immense destructive force, capable of shattering the very ground beneath his feet.

But Lillian was too fast.

She weaved through his attacks with cat-like agility, dodging with fluid movements. Then, in a flurry of high-speed strikes, she overwhelmed Darren before he could react, landing multiple blows that forced him to concede.

”Winner: Lillian!”

As the fights continued, students showcased their unique abilities—some combining swordsmanship with elemental magic, others relying purely on physical strength or clever tactics.

By the end of the preliminary rounds, sixteen students stood victorious, earning their places in the quarterfinals.

The next phase of the competition raised the intensity.

The first match saw Cedric, the wind swordsman, against Lars, a lightning-user with a rapier.

Their battle was a spectacle of speed, both warriors moving at blinding velocities, their blades clashing in bursts of energy. Sparks of lightning crackled against currents of wind, the two combatants darting across the arena like streaks of light.

The match ended when Lars unleashed a sudden lightning burst, paralyzing Cedric for a brief moment—just enough time to land the finishing blow.

”Winner: Lars!”

In another fight, Lillian, the dagger-wielding assassin, faced Roderic, a heavily-armored warrior with a warhammer.

It was a battle of speed versus endurance.

Lillian danced around Rodericʼs slow but powerful swings, striking at the gaps in his armor. But Roderic was unshakable, each hit barely affecting him as he pushed forward like an unstoppable force.

Finally, he cornered her with a well-timed feint, then delivered a ground-shaking hammer strike that sent her flying.

She struggled to stand but conceded, acknowledging his strength.

”Winner: Roderic!”

The remaining competitors were Lars, Roderic, Serena, and Finn.

Serena, a water mage with spear proficiency, had impressed the audience with her fluid combat style, while Finn, a fire brawler, had crushed his opponents with raw power.

The semifinals were the most intense fights yet.

• Lars faced Serena, but her water magic proved to be his undoing. His lightning attacks were dispersed by her water barriers, and she used her spearʼs reach to keep him at bay. Serena won with a decisive strike to his chest.

• Roderic clashed with Finn, a battle of brute strength. Finnʼs fire-enhanced fists hammered against Rodericʼs defenses, but Roderic endured every hit, slowly wearing Finn down before dealing the final blow.

The finalists were decided: Serena vs. Roderic.

The Grand Finale – Serena vs. Roderic

The entire academy held its breath as the final match began.

Serena flowed like a river, her spear striking with elegance and precision. Roderic stood like a mountain, absorbing every attack and countering with devastating swings.

Serena unleashed a water cyclone, attempting to drown Rodericʼs movements, but the knight planted his feet and broke through the vortex with sheer force.

The battle raged on, neither side relenting.

Serenaʼs spear finally found an opening, striking Roderic in the chest. But before she could celebrate, Roderic grabbed her spear with his bare hands and pulled her in, landing a crushing blow to her stomach.

Both collapsed, exhausted.

The judges deliberated for a moment before declaring—

”Winner: Roderic!”

The crowd erupted into cheers.

Serena, despite her loss, smiled and shook Rodericʼs hand. Both had given everything they had.

Conclusion – Rising Stars of the Academy

The competition ended with an awards ceremony, with Roderic receiving the Championʼs Medal.

Serena, Lars, and Finn were also recognized for their outstanding performances.

For the rest of the first-years, the tournament was an eye-opener. They had seen the heights of power and knew how much further they had to go.

As the students left the coliseum, one thing was clear—

This yearʼs generation was stronger than ever.

And soon, they would take their place among the legends of Freya Academy like Alexʼs generation.
