Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 48: Chapter 42: The Real Trouble Is an Educated Scumbag (Part 5)

”It’s the afternoon of the second day of the New Year, he really has time.” Nick Zeller huffed lazily, standing up, ”Let him wait, just tell him I need to prepare a bit, sincerity brings results. If he doesn’t want to wait, he can find someone else.”

Lawrence Winters gave him a thumbs up, ”Uncle Genius!”

She tilted her head back slightly to look at Kenneth Osborne, who seemed a bit anxious, and said with a smile, ”Kenneth and I will go first, Uncle saves the day.”

Kenneth Osborne let out a sigh of relief, seeing her sweet smile, couldn’t help pinching her peachy cheeks, ”No wonder you’re the Little Heavenly Master, your knack for reading people is as good as mine.”

”I told you not to pinch my face!” Lawrence Winters leaped back dramatically, making a face at him, ”Besides, when did you learn to read people? Does the top student at City High need to read people?”

”Why wouldn’t I?” Kenneth Osborne found her words odd.

They walked to the door together.

Lawrence Winters pouted, as if reminiscing, ”Because you were always first place. Everyone wanted to suck up to you, did you need to please anyone?”

Kenneth Osborne thought, how did I learn to read people?

Wasn’t it because the person I wanted to please was utterly oblivious in some aspects, like the vault door at the central bank, just too solid.

No matter how hard I tried, it wouldn’t budge.

It’s just too tough for him.

But Kenneth Osborne remained silent, a faint smile played on his elegant phoenix eyes, ”You’ve always been first place too, how did you learn to read people?”

Lawrence Winters pressed the elevator button, ”My uncle said being a top student at school for too long lowers your emotional intelligence, so he insisted on taking me out to experience the world.”

”Tsk tsk, Little Top Student Winters is always elusive at school, who would’ve thought it was to hone emotional intelligence outside.” Kenneth Osborne teased, his hands leisurely tucked in his pockets, walking into the elevator with her.

Lawrence Winters pinched her fingers together, ”In front of the real top student, I’m no top student, my grades are just a tiny bit better.”

”Just a tiny bit? Little Heavenly Master Winters can excel without even attending class, none of us can match up.”

Lawrence Winters glared at him, ”Talk properly, why act all eloquent for no reason!”

”Am I acting eloquent? You studied humanities, I studied science.” Kenneth Osborne raised an eyebrow, his phoenix eyes flashed lightly, a smile danced on the corner of his lips, dazzling Lawrence Winters.

She quickly averted her gaze, discontented, ”Trying to use beauty as a distraction when you can’t outtalk someone. Where’s your top student spirit, Kenneth Osborne?”

”Oh? Nora, have you finally acknowledged my handsomeness?” Kenneth Osborne seemed even happier.

Lawrence Winters was so enraged, she almost jumped.

As they playfully bickered, they quickly reached the building where Brooke Osborne and Gregory Quinn’s wedding suite was in C Block.

As she entered, Lawrence Winters pouted slightly.

Kenneth Osborne recalled the scene and was about to laugh, asking her, ”Why the pout? It’s clearly my failed attempt that was embarrassing.”

Lawrence Winters didn’t even glance at him, muttered with a pout, ”It’s my mouth, I can pout if I want.”

Kenneth Osborne: ”...”

Brooke Osborne had been worried, but their presence quickly made her smile.

She pulled Lawrence Winters to the sofa in the living room, saying, ”Sit for a bit, I’ll make you some tea and grab snacks.”

”Why snacks? They’re not here for a New Year visit.” Gregory Quinn’s impatient voice echoed in the room.

He peeked behind Lawrence Winters and Kenneth Osborne, but didn’t spot Nick Zeller, feeling even more annoyed.

Lawrence Winters looked up, dramatically gasped, covered her mouth with her hand, widened her eyes, ”Who is this?! How can someone be this ugly?!”

Gregory Quinn was furious, almost lunged to hit Lawrence Winters, ”Who are you calling ugly?!”

Brooke Osborne quickly stood in front of Lawrence Winters, Kenneth Osborne raised his hand to grip Gregory Quinn’s arm, saying with slight disgust, ”Stay put!”

Kenneth Osborne looked refined and dignified, like a wealthy gentleman, but his grip was quite strong.

Gregory Quinn winced in pain, quickly said, ”Kenneth, what are you doing? Let go, I’m just anxious... Look at me, neither man nor noble.”

”Oh, so you’re Gregory Quinn.” Lawrence Winters clasped her hands, nodded formally, ”Sorry, you startled me just now.”

”No wonder you want my uncle to perform an exorcism. Looking at you, you seem quite ill.”

Gregory Quinn shook off Kenneth Osborne’s restraining hand, sat on the sofa opposite Lawrence Winters and complained bitterly, ”You think I’ve been possessed too? Why am I so unlucky?!—Just a few days before New Year’s, I fell down the stairs and now I’m like this! Alas! I wonder if I’ve really been influenced by something!”
