Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 28: Chapter 23: Do Me a Favor

The ”crisis” on Lawrence Winters’ side was resolved, but things were just beginning for Kenneth and Brooke Osborne.

Because Lawrence wasn’t in the car, the siblings could speak more freely.

They drove back to the underground parking lot of Building A at Temple Court Residential Area, not in a hurry to get out, but sitting in the car talking.

The parking lot was brightly lit, with neat white rectangles painted on the white concrete floor, and the steel frame canopy had a strong futuristic cyberpunk feel.

Kenneth looked around and said to Brooke, ”Here is good. Sis, whatever you want to say or worry about, you can say it here without fear of being overheard.”

Brooke sat in the passenger seat, head slightly bowed, thinking and thinking again, she whispered, ”Kenneth, can you let me handle this myself?”

”If you could handle it yourself, Gregory Quinn wouldn’t have bullied you today.” Kenneth said coldly.

Thinking about the content of the video, the anger in his heart couldn’t be suppressed.

”You look down on me too? You think I have no ability? You think I’m trash! Rely on others for everything?!” Brooke roared, suddenly lifting her head in fury.

Kenneth’s words seemed to be the last straw, pressing down whatever remained of her fragile ”self”.

Kenneth was slightly surprised, quickly recovered, and hurriedly said, ”Sis, you know that’s not what I meant.”

”Not what you meant? Then why don’t you let me solve it myself?!” Brooke’s fists were clenched, her body trembling slightly.

Her face was pale, but her eyes were red and about to burst into tears,

like a trapped and exhausted beast, knowing she might never get out, yet still trying to preserve a last shred of dignity.

Kenneth sighed gently, giving up the idea of communicating with Brooke to get her consent.

He reached out, holding Brooke’s clenched fists and gently shaking them, his exquisite eyes focused on Brooke, saying warmly and firmly, ”Alright, sis, I believe in you, don’t be angry.”

The leisurely and soothing tone had the unique calming effect of a deep male voice, and Brooke gradually calmed down.

She was not naturally fierce or explosive in temperament, treating any kindness with utmost gratitude.

Especially when it was her most beloved brother comforting her, Brooke almost instinctively nodded, saying, ”I’m not angry, I would never be angry at Kenneth.”

Kenneth nodded, his voice even softer, ”Hmm, sis, just remember, no matter what happens, me and our parents are your strongest support.”

”Scum like Gregory Quinn isn’t worth your consideration. I hope you can get rid of him soon. It’s not that I don’t believe in your abilities, but because I don’t want to see my most respected sister being tormented by such trash.”

Kenneth felt increasingly uneasy.

He had stronger feelings for this sister than for his mother.

Because when he was a child, he was raised by this sister who was seven years older.

Kenneth decided to appeal to her emotions.

He spoke warmly, ”Sis, I still remember when I was only two or three, you carried me on your back while standing on a small stool to cook, making egg custard for me.”

”When I went to kindergarten, you took and picked me up every day.”

”If any kids bullied me, it was you, being the big sister, who taught them a lesson.”

”You were so good to me, how could I watch you be bullied and do nothing?”

He tried to base his actions on ”repaying his sister’s kindness”, not wanting Brooke to feel it was because she couldn’t solve her problems.

He could tell that Brooke wasn’t very confident and placed a lot of importance on others’ opinions.

Unlike Lawrence, this girl, who knew how her uncle taught her, cared nothing about others’ opinions since she was a child and had unmatched confidence.

She was like a ”boiled copper pea that couldn’t be smashed or burned”.

Of course, perhaps too confident and too perceptive, she was inevitably daringly slow in some aspects.

Kenneth squinted as he thought about Lawrence, if she were in Brooke’s position...

No, someone like Lawrence wouldn’t even look at someone like Gregory Quinn.

So this idea was a fallacy.

Kenneth tapped his long fingers on the steering wheel, turned to look at Brooke, seeing she had recovered, and said, ”Sis, you go up first, I’ll have a word with Nora.”

”You still want to find Lawrence?” Brooke looked at her watch, ”It’s almost eight, Lawrence’s family is strict, she must be home by eight-thirty.”

”Hmm, I’ll just give her a call.” Kenneth said with a smile, ”You go take a bath, have some dessert, then sleep.”

”I don’t want to eat...” Brooke had no appetite, she just wanted to take a bath and go to sleep.

Kenneth looked at her pleadingly, ”...But I want to eat, won’t sis make it for me?”

”Oh, you want to eat? Sure, what dessert do you want, sis will make it right away.” Brooke perked up, thinking it’s good to make something in the kitchen, it might distract her from her gloomy mood.

Kenneth randomly picked one, ”How about mango sago, sis makes it even better than the dessert shops outside.”

”No problem. We still have mangoes at home, I specifically prepared ivory mangoes a few days ago, sweet and sticky.” Brooke immediately opened the car door and got out with a smile.

Because Kenneth was returning home for the holidays, Brooke had been preparing all sorts of treats for a week, plus the New Year was coming, families were hoarding delicacies from all over.

Kenneth sat silently in the car, watching Brooke walk into the parking lot elevator, and waited a bit until Brooke sent him a text: [Mango sago will take about an hour, it’ll be kept warm on the electric stove in the kitchen].

Kenneth replied with one word: [Okay].

And then he texted Lawrence Winters: [Nora, can you do me a favor?].

Lawrence had already showered, applying skincare products in her bedroom, earlier craving sweets, she had already told her mom to make a bowl of ginger syrup red bean double-layer milk.

Gabrielle, when she was younger, wasn’t a great cook, but over the years, for the picky Lawrence, her culinary skills greatly improved.

Gabrielle’s ginger syrup red bean double-layer milk was quickly done, she called out, ”Lawrence, the double-layer milk is ready, want to come eat it?”

Lawrence blow dried her hair, tied it into a bun, and in loungewear came down from the second floor, texting Kenneth: [Depends on what favor].

Kenneth sent her a voice message: [Nora, I want to give Gregory Quinn a lesson. But to avoid trouble, I want to borrow some clothes from you, preferably a pullover that conceals my figure, and a mask].

He knew Lawrence and her uncle often went out for feng shui readings and had all sorts of outfits.

Lawrence was thrilled, quickly replying: [You’re going to beat up Gregory Quinn?! That’s great! I’ll happily support you with clothes and props! By the way, how about the car? Want to borrow my uncle’s car?!].

So enthusiastic.

Kenneth raised an eyebrow in slight surprise, quickly sending a voice reply: [No need for a car, right? Your uncle’s car is too noticeable, Gregory Quinn has seen it too. I plan to take a taxi]

Lawrence was more experienced in such matters than Kenneth.

She quickly replied: [My uncle has many cars. He’s seen the Cherokee, but we won’t drive that, we’ll take the Wuling Hongguang!].

Kenneth: ”...”

Throughout River City, who knows how many Wuling Hongguangs are there...

As long as the license plate is temporarily covered, there’s no fear of being recognized.

Truly a great idea.

Kenneth touched his chin, gave a faint smile, and joked: [...We? Are you saying Nora wants to come help me beat someone up?].
