Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 26: Chapter 21: Elite Yuan Bro

”Sis, I heard you met with Gregory Quinn earlier? Are you going to drag this on? Do you really want to keep this scumbag around for New Year?”

Kenneth Osborne’s face was devoid of his customary smile.

Brooke Osborne knew her brother quite well.

She could tell that when he wasn’t smiling, he was genuinely angry this time.

Brooke felt a bit awkward; she hadn’t yet realized that Lawrence Winters had sent the video to Kenneth, and just mumbled softly, ”Didn’t we agree to wait until after New Year... to divorce? Otherwise, Mom and Dad won’t have a good New Year...”

Kenneth tightly gripped his phone inside his pocket.

He felt a strong urge to throw the video Lawrence had sent at Brooke’s face, just to see what excuses she would have.

But he knew that doing so might make Brooke blame Lawrence.

It’s hard to be a good person these days.

Being a mediator between a couple is even harder.

Many women are bullied by their husbands, and when someone tries to help them, they vent their anger on the helper.

Brooke wouldn’t be that extreme, but for some inexplicable reason, Kenneth didn’t want her to have a bad impression of Lawrence.

Kenneth closed his eyes, hiding the dark glint in his charming eyes, and asked calmly, ”What exactly happened just now? Why did you take so long to come over?”

Brooke quickly changed the subject, ”You didn’t mention it earlier, I was about to ask you, why did you suddenly want to invite me and Lawrence to watch a movie? Wasn’t it you and...”

She paused, realizing it was inappropriate, and instinctively glanced back at Lawrence Winters who had just stepped out from the parking shelter.

Lawrence showed no expression, walking over slowly.

Kenneth just glanced at her, and she understood his meaning.

He hadn’t exposed the video matter.

Lawrence nodded at him, pulling the topic back on track, ”I just saw Gregory Quinn tugging at Brooke, got upset and kicked him. I didn’t explain well on the phone, hope you’re not mad, Kenneth.”

Then she frowned and complained, ”Brooke, if Gregory tries to give me trouble, you must testify for me! — I was clearly trying to help you!”

”Don’t worry, Lawrence, I absolutely won’t let Gregory hurt you. I will definitely testify for you!” Despite being ”well-trained” by Gregory, Brooke hasn’t lost her basic sense of justice.

She would rather be beaten to death herself than let anyone else take a slap for her.

Kenneth was appreciative of Lawrence’s savvy behavior, adopting an angrier demeanor, he said angrily, ”Gregory dared to hit you?! You shouldn’t have held me back at the train station yesterday! I’ll beat him until he’s paralyzed, and see how he’ll continue bullying!”

”Kenneth, you can’t paralyze him before Brooke divorces him. Otherwise, he’ll cling to her for life, won’t he?” Lawrence subtly reminded Kenneth of the importance of timing when hitting someone.

”Don’t act impulsively, Kenneth!” Brooke was frightened, ”Whether I’m divorced or not, you can’t hit people!”

”Gregory isn’t worth your trouble!”

Kenneth pulled his hand out of his pocket, letting it hang by his side, and said seriously, ”Sis, Gregory is not worth wasting your life on. — Get divorced tomorrow, don’t delay any longer. If you don’t agree, then don’t consider me your brother anymore!”

Brooke was torn.

She didn’t want to disappoint her parents, so she’s been indecisive about the divorce.

It’s not just the New Year issue; in their small town, once divorced, a woman’s reputation is ruined.

She works at the city government, she’d be even more embarrassed.

But Gregory has already had a child with Grace Day, whether she wants to or not, she has to get divorced.

And Gregory threatened her today, saying that even if they get divorced, she must stay with him.

She was really scared, terrified that her whole life would just be ruined like this, losing her future and embarrassingly bringing shame to her parents and brother.

Brooke gritted her teeth, looking at Kenneth, resolving not to drag her brother into this.

He is perfect, without any dark side, will have a bright future ahead, must not be held back by a cowardly and incompetent sister.

Brooke steeled herself and nodded to Kenneth, saying, ”Don’t worry, I will definitely resolve this issue.”

Kenneth interrupted her, ”Good, tomorrow I’ll go with you to get the divorce papers. If he doesn’t agree, I’ll find someone to beat him. Rest assured, I won’t cause trouble for myself.”

He was slowly beginning to understand Brooke’s feelings, knowing she valued face and loved her brother dearly, refusing to do things that would cause family shame.

But dealing with a scum like Gregory, what can you do?

Just have to say, shit happens.

Kenneth intended to have a long talk with his sister tonight to relieve her worries, so they could meet Gregory Quinn tomorrow and finalize the divorce.

Lawrence Winters was watching the scene unfold nearby.

It was nearly seven, and it was getting colder outside. Even though she was wearing a down jacket, her hands and feet were freezing.

She rubbed her hands and blew warm air onto them, stamping her feet to keep warm.

Kenneth Osborne noticed and naturally took her hand, warmed it in his large palm, and then placed it in his pocket.

Lawrence: ”...”

It felt like a little girl being led to kindergarten by an older brother.

She wriggled her hand free from Kenneth’s grasp and waved it casually, ”You all find a place to chat, I’m heading back first.”

She smiled and winked at Kenneth, ”I guess you don’t need me to ’watch over’ you, right?”

Kenneth couldn’t help smiling back and said, ”Let’s go back together, today’s lousy movie isn’t worth watching anyway.”

He really had no desire to go in.

Using the excuse of waiting for Lawrence outside in the cold wind was better than suffering mental agony inside.

Lawrence glanced at her small electric scooter and giggled, ”But my scooter only fits one person. Kenneth, you...”

Suddenly, Kenneth raised his hand to pat her head and smiled, ”Call me big brother, such disrespect.”

”You’re not even my real big brother!” Lawrence pushed his hand away, pouting in discontent.

She used to call him ”Brother Osborne” when she was little, thinking back now, it’s slightly embarrassing.

Does the emotionless Little Heavenly Master have no face?

”Then call me Osborne.” Kenneth felt cheerful seeing Lawrence’s cute chubby face, wanting to pinch her soft cheeks.

Lawrence quickly dodged his ”devilish claws,” stepped back, and pleaded, ”Okay, okay, my gangster Osborne, tough, not much talk, is that good?”

”...Am I very gangster?” Kenneth was dissatisfied with her perfunctory praise, ”Change it.”

”Uh, how about elite Osborne, handsome with a lot of cheek?” Lawrence mischievously eyed Kenneth up and down, as if appraising him.

Kenneth genuinely laughed this time, ”Nora’s truly impressive, this cheek talk hits me in the heart.”

”Hey! Who’s making cheeky talk?! Don’t read into things too much! — If it’s beyond my knowledge area, I won’t admit it.” Lawrence made a funny face.

Brooke Osborne was already used to their banter.

Moreover, the relaxed demeanor between Kenneth and Lawrence helped ease Brooke’s tension.

She smiled good-naturedly, ”Kenneth came to watch the movie today, and he drove my car. We can all ride in Kenneth’s car to go home, putting Nora’s electric scooter in the trunk.”

Kenneth nodded, ”Let’s do that. I’ll send them a message, and then we’ll head home.”

Kenneth took out his phone and sent a few messages to classmates, saying something came up at home and he needed to leave, asking them to explain to Sarah Newman.

Only then did he realize he never accepted Sarah’s friend invite.

So he didn’t have her WeChat ID.

In the cinema, Sarah was restless, waiting for Kenneth but he never showed up.

When she finally ran out of patience, she found out Kenneth wasn’t coming.

By that time, Kenneth had already brought Brooke’s car around and was about to load Lawrence’s electric scooter into the rear trunk.

A Grand Cherokee roared over, screeching to a stop next to Brooke’s car.

Nick Zeller leaned out from the car window, wearing a stern face and loudly said, ”Lawrence, come home with your uncle!”

Lawrence didn’t really want to get involved further, seeing Nick arrive, she hurriedly said, ”Then I’ll go home with my uncle. Osborne, Sister Brooke, I’m leaving now!”

She had Kenneth take her electric scooter down and place it in Nick’s Grand Cherokee, then jumped into Nick’s car.

Nick stepped on the gas and quickly drove away.

In the car, Lawrence grinned and asked Nick, ”Uncle, why did you come looking for me? Didn’t I say I’d watch a movie today?”

Given the timing, the movie was only halfway through!

Nick had a stern expression as he said, ”I casually checked your fortune at home just now and found you might face trouble today, so I came to get you early.”

He squinted at Lawrence and inquired, ”Tell the truth, what did you get into?”
