Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 43: Chapter 37: The Three Untouchables

Benjamin Winchester’s forehead broke out in sweat.

He never expected Lawrence Winters to have figured this out.

So she must know what he did to the Saunders Family too, right?

He was only relieved that because the Saunders Family didn’t have much money, he didn’t touch their golden girl; otherwise...

Lawrence Winters didn’t wait for him to mentally prepare, and immediately said, ”Actually, we’re all just doing business, each in our own lane without interfering. If people don’t mess with me, I won’t mess with them. If you want to aim higher, we won’t block your path.”

”But what you did this time was unethical. I wouldn’t mind if I didn’t know, but once I do, do you think we’ll let it go?”

”Benjamin Winchester, you’re also someone who mixes in these circles. Do you know the ’three untouchables’ in the underworld?”

”Don’t mess with the Buddhist sects, don’t mess with the Celestial Path Sect, don’t mess with the Public Gate.”

”Unfortunately, we’re part of the Celestial Path Sect.”

Lawrence Winters turned her head to look at him, smiling casually, and took out her phone tossing it up and down, ”Alright, I’ve given you so much advice, today’s business ends here, it’s time for you to pay up.”

Benjamin Winchester knew he was done for today; if he didn’t pay, he probably wouldn’t be able to leave through that door.

The fact that even a small disciple under Nick Zeller could be so formidable surely meant he himself was genuinely skilled, knowing many influential people, and was acquainted with even wealthier ones...

And now, he had a bigger goal. Listening to Lawrence Winters earlier, if he focused his efforts on that larger target, perhaps he could really succeed and get out of this.

It’s better to resolve feuds than to deepen them. More importantly, Nick Zeller was a local power in River City who had thoroughly exposed his background, and he was already psychologically defeated.

Benjamin Winchester took a deep breath, ”Thank you, Master Winters, for the fortune-telling. May I know the cost?”

”Talking about money is pointless? We people of the Celestial Path Sect never discuss money; we only consider sincerity. — Sincerity brings effectiveness.” Lawrence Winters said reverently, swiping open her phone, ”Your phone number?”

Benjamin Winchester provided his phone number, and Lawrence Winters immediately sent over the electronic contract from their small company.

Benjamin Winchester received the contract, looked at it, and his eyes widened, ”Ten... ten thousand?!”

”You can inquire about our company’s usual rates. For a business like yours that involves analyzing peach blossom fated deaths, the starting price is at least fifty thousand.” Lawrence Winters pretended, stretching out five fingers.

She didn’t know whether Nick Zeller had done such a business before, it was her first time...

Benjamin Winchester shivered with fright, hurriedly signed the electronic contract, and sent it back.

Then he made a bank transfer, moving the ten thousand that hadn’t even warmed up to Nick Zeller’s company’s account.

Once done, he stood up and said to Martin Saunders and Lucy Winters, ”I apologize to both of you, the engagement with your daughter is annulled.”

”It was invalid in the first place; you’re trying to add more terms?” Lawrence Winters rolled her eyes, ”Go on, go on, quickly find your big business, work hard tonight, and you might succeed.”

Benjamin Winchester was so embarrassed he dared not look at Lawrence Winters any longer, hurriedly fled the scene.

The door of the private room closed with a slam, Lucy Winters looked at Lawrence Winters, both surprised and delighted, almost pouncing over: ”Lawrence! You’re amazing! You turned around and made five thousand!”

Lawrence Winters smiled at Nick Zeller, ”Uncle, return five thousand to Aunt?”

Nick Zeller nodded, ”It’s the New Year, the last business of the year, consider it a good deed for accruing virtue. — So let’s transfer five thousand to them.”

He picked up his phone and transferred five thousand from his account to Lucy Winters.

Lucy Winters looked at the money she had ”lost and regained,” almost on the verge of tears.

Martin Saunders patted her on the back, thinking of redirecting her attention, smiled at Lawrence Winters, ”Lawrence, you were amazing just now! How did you know so much about Benjamin Winchester? Did you investigate him before?”

”Of course not. I also met him for the first time today.” Lawrence Winters explained with a smile, ”Actually, it’s nothing major, I figured it out through observation.”

”Observation?” The Saunders Missy was very curious, ”How did you ’observe’ all of that just from a glance... I’ve seen him so many times but never realized. He always said his family was rich, and I thought it was true since he dressed well...”

”It’s quite simple.” Lawrence Winters picked up her corn juice and sipped it lightly, smiling, ”When he came in, I noticed his clothes were very neat, especially his shoes were polished bright.”

”Generally, boys who are loved by their mothers won’t polish their shoes themselves. — So I suspect he lost his mother at a young age or lacked maternal love.”

”Plus, the way he looked at Aunt and my mom was different, so I concluded he has feelings for older women, commonly known as an ’Oedipus complex,’ likely because he lost his mother early on and didn’t receive maternal love, also not having experienced a distressing biological mother.”

”A stepmother who isn’t good to him will make him crave affection from older women even more.”

”If his biological mother was unkind to him, he wouldn’t have any expectations for affection from older women.”

”Looking further, although his features are good, his skin is rather rough, and his Mandarin is very standard, so there’s a high probability he’s a northerner, worked in the southern region, and did outdoor jobs facing wind and rain, thus causing his skin to become rough.”

”Moreover, his stance is somewhat interesting, upright yet with a slight teasing feel, indicating training in special circumstances.”

”But now he’s involved in conning women business, which shows he’s incapable of doing a laborious job, nor can he fully sell himself in another business, so he chose his current field, using his assets to deceive respectable women.”

”It’s comfortable, and quick money.”

”As a man who isn’t old yet has experienced so much, I guess he dropped out of school after a few years.”

”Putting all this together, we can infer that he likely has a difficult stepmother at home, I said he dropped out after middle school, because the country mandates nine-year compulsory education, so he probably wouldn’t drop out before graduating middle school.”

”Of course, there are further face-reading elements to support my inference.”

Lawrence Winters solemnly said, ”Didn’t you notice? This person has typical four-white-eyes.”

”Men with four-white-eyes generally experience many challenges, have a strong desire for revenge, and a narrow mind, capable of waiting decades for vengeance.”

”Getting involved with such men, losing money is already light.”

The Saunders Missy fearfully gasped, ”But... did you offend him today, cousin?”

”Yes, but it’s okay.” Lawrence Winters smiled confidently, ”Though the four-white-eyes have heavy revenge intentions, they recognize the situation best. I’ve explained the underworld’s ’three untouchables’ rule. People like him will avoid us from now on, afraid of losing much over small anger.”

”Also, when you invited him to dinner today, he arrived late, indicating he had other ’clients’ to attend to.”

”With the way he does business, he surely deceives more than just your family, likely is entangled with others too.”

”When he arrived, he gobbled up his food, showing that while he accompanied someone, he himself hardly ate.”

This suggests that the person he’s accompanying is quite important, so much so that he disregards his own needs to take care of them.”

”Besides, it’s New Year’s Eve today, who accompanies someone else on New Year’s Eve?”

He had a pink peach blossom calamity between his brows, but the color was tinted with black, indicating that the woman was older.”

”Older women being alone on New Year’s Eve is likely because she’s single and seeking male warmth, then I probed him with the ’big business’ line, and he admitted it.”

Lawrence Winters then seriously addressed Lucy Winters, ”Aunt, please be cautious in the future, let Missy study well and go to college, then find a boyfriend at university.”

Lucy Winters pursed her lips, ”I want Missy to marry into a better family in future, not like me...”

She trailed off as she glanced at the uneasy Martin Saunders next to her and swallowed her words.

No matter how incompetent this man was, over the years, he really hadn’t been bad to her.

The Saunders Missy nodded vigorously, ”Don’t worry, cousin, I’ll definitely study hard! College boys must be better than such middle school dropout frauds!”

Lawrence Winters hesitated, thinking deep down that she was too naive.

Meeting bad boys in college could be a hundred times worse than illiterate frauds!

No matter how scummy a man is, the truly worrisome part is when a scummy man is educated!
