Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 34: Chapter 29: Lunar New Year’s Eve (Part 1)

”Really? Is this actually possible?!” Keith Newman was both amazed and delighted.

Although his company’s wastewater discharge had been an issue for years, and he’d been required to deal with it just as long, no one had ever made him feel like he needed to buy the best wastewater treatment equipment right away to solve the problem, like Nick Zeller did.

Nick Zeller seemed very confident, raising his head slightly with a hint of arrogance, and snorted through his nose, ”What? Don’t believe me? Then forget it, go find someone else more qualified!”

”No no no! I believe you! I believe you!” Keith Newman bowed repeatedly and grabbed Nick Zeller’s robe, his face full of joy, ”It must be this reason! I’ve offended the Water Deity, which is affecting my wealth!”

Nick Zeller patted him on the shoulder with satisfaction, almost about to tousle his hair and throw him a bone.

Lawrence Winters remained expressionless, still keeping a high-cold demeanor, glanced at his watch, coughed, and said, ”Great Heavenly Master, time’s up, we have to go and attend a remote meeting with the provincial client.”

”Oh, so soon?” Nick Zeller looked regretful, turned his head, and reached out his hand to Keith Newman, ”Mr. Newman, it’s truly a shame we didn’t meet earlier. Let’s keep in touch from now on!”

”Sure, sure!” Keith Newman was overjoyed, even the way he looked at him changed.

After respectfully seeing off Nick Zeller and Lawrence Winters, Keith Newman immediately had his staff contact suppliers to buy the best wastewater treatment equipment.

They wouldn’t stop work even during the New Year, determined to complete the installation and testing of all equipment by the sixth day of the lunar new year, to welcome the God of Wealth with everything clean and perfect.

...

Nick Zeller and Lawrence Winters returned home; it was exactly eight thirty.

Gabrielle Winters had cleaned the house from top to bottom all by herself and had just gone to the bathroom to take a shower.

Lawrence Winters pushed the door open and saw the newly transformed living room, clicked his tongue twice, and said, ”I feel like I see shiny RMB all around the room.”

The living room had a full set of new furniture and decorations, including a new sectional sofa that exuded taste and sophistication, clearly a bespoke piece.

The floor-to-ceiling windows now had Roman blinds in a gentle dove gray, instantly changing the room’s overall style from last year’s medieval Rococo European theme to a 21st-century Nordic fresh style.

Next to the seventy-inch OLED TV stood a porcelain vase with wax plums, which were real flowers that Gabrielle Winters had bought from the flower market that morning. With pinkish-white Nine English Plums and pale yellow Suxin Plums arranged artfully, they could last at least until the fifteenth day of the lunar month.

Nick Zeller chuckled, ”Isn’t money meant to be spent? Your mom’s worked hard all her life, and she doesn’t have many hobbies. She just loves to renovate houses and buy home décor. As long as she’s happy.”

Lawrence Winters sighed, looking up at the tall and robust Nick Zeller, ”... Uncle, I wish I had a big brother like you!”

What a great big brother, helping his sister with her kids, backing her up, skilled in the pen and sword, even earning money fiercely for his sister’s hobbies.

From pretending to be blind and setting up a stall in a big city to now having his own fixed office space—a small company’s scale, truly an exemplar of inspiration, a model of a comeback.

Nick Zeller patted her head, laughing even more joyfully, ”You have an uncle; your mom doesn’t. You’re better off than her.”

”Ah! That’s true!” Lawrence Winters cupped her cheeks in her hands, making an adorable ”flower” face, ”Uncle, could you consider promoting your cute niece, little Nora?”

A promotion would mean a raise.

Lawrence Winters was earning commission while doing business with Nick Zeller, desperately hoping that this ”stingy boss” would lower the commission rate.

How clever Nick Zeller was; he immediately yawned, ”Oh, I’m so tired! I need to meditate and recharge; tomorrow I’ve got to deal with your second and youngest aunt’s families!”

With that, he quickly ran to the stairs and went back to his own bedroom on the second floor.

Lawrence Winters, Nick Zeller, and Gabrielle Winters all lived in this penthouse duplex, each having their own bedroom with a private bathroom.

Moreover, they each had a sitting room.

Nick Zeller used his as a studio.

Lawrence Winters used hers as a study.

Gabrielle Winters directly turned hers into a walk-in closet.

Lawrence Winters pouted at Nick Zeller’s retreating back, went to the kitchen to have some dessert, and then went upstairs to her bedroom to wash up.

She looked at herself in the mirror and sighed again.

A girl who loves desserts so much, yet doesn’t like exercising, probably won’t be able to lose weight.

She’s not actually fat, of course not skinny either.

She’s probably the type that looks chubby in photos and clothes but seems okay to the naked eye.
