Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 23: Chapter 18: True Popularity and Top Star

Nick Zeller hung up after finishing his call.

He looked at Kenneth Osborne’s horoscope and pondered for a moment before sending a text to Kenneth’s phone.

[Uncle Nick]: [Kenneth, is this your horoscope?]

He sent the horoscope given to him by Mrs. Newman to Kenneth Osborne.

Kenneth Osborne happened to be looking at his phone, glanced at it, and replied: [...My mom found someone to calculate it; this is it.]

Nick Zeller: ”...”

This is really interesting.

...

Mrs. Newman was completely stunned by Nick Zeller’s words.

She paused for a long time before writing down Nick Zeller’s four sentences.

Then she looked at her phone, and the Great Heavenly Master had already hung up.

She didn’t have time to ask Nick Zeller again, so she quickly took the four sentences to find Keith Newman.

”Old Newman, take a look at the horoscope the Great Heavenly Master gave for Sarah and Kenneth. Do you think we should believe it or not?” Mrs. Newman said as she put the little piece of paper with the four sentences in front of Keith Newman.

Keith Newman put on his reading glasses, held the paper far away, and squinted to read it.

”Man of wood, woman of water, fortune’s mate, a lifetime smooth as pine, destined to meet across a thousand miles, if not destined, never to encounter even face to face.”

”Isn’t this nice?” Keith Newman chuckled, ”Smooth for life, how wonderful!”

”Yes, the Great Heavenly Master said their life together would be good forever, but...” Mrs. Newman looked around, making sure her daughter wasn’t nearby, then leaned over to Keith Newman and said, ”The Great Heavenly Master also said that they both have good luck, and together they are even better, like a ’fortune nest’, absorbing luck, including fortune, from those around them!”

”So, if they are together, it will be good for them, but our business will suffer!”

Keith Newman felt a chill in his heart, ”...What did you say?! Our business?! How does the Great Heavenly Master know?!”

Mrs. Newman: ”...”

This situation isn’t right.

She suspiciously looked at Keith Newman, ”...What’s wrong with you? The Great Heavenly Master just calculated a horoscope, Sarah and Kenneth aren’t even together yet, so how could it affect our business?”

Keith Newman stood up abruptly, paced back and forth excitedly in the study, then put his hands behind his back, nodding vigorously: ”This Great Heavenly Master, really lives up to his reputation! He’s got skills!”

Mrs. Newman: ”...”

She was completely baffled, furrowed her brow, and glared at Keith Newman: ”Hurry up and explain what’s going on?!”

”...Don’t you remember? The first half of the year our business was not very smooth, I even went to the provincial capital to consult an expert, then followed the expert’s advice and painted our factory light blue.” Keith Newman said mysteriously, taking out his phone to show Mrs. Newman.

Mrs. Newman glanced at it, and said disdainfully: ”Of course I know, didn’t the expert say that water can gather wealth, so you painted it blue to gather wealth?”

The color of the ocean is blue.

Where is the most water in the world?—Of course it’s the ocean.

Keith Newman slapped his thigh: ”The expert did say that! But, honestly speaking, ever since we painted our factory light blue, our business has gotten worse...”

Mrs. Newman was even more confused, ”...So what did the expert say? Charging us money but not doing a human job!”

”I was just calling that expert. He actually ignores me, only has his assistant fob me off!” Keith Newman grumbled, holding up his smoking pipe and cigar, lighting them up.

Mrs. Newman waved her hand in front of her, trying to dispel the smoke and said unhappily, ”...I remember you paid half a million to hire that expert... so what now?!”

Keith Newman tapped his pipe on the ashtray on the coffee table, rubbed his bald head for a moment, and said: ”We’ll settle accounts with that expert later. I need to see Nick Zeller. I only heard he looks at feng shui of residences mainly for real estate moguls, so back when the factory’s business was bad, I didn’t think to find him.”

”Now I know he can calculate horoscopes and foresee fortune; he should be able to help us see what’s wrong with the factory site.”

”Obviously I invited an expert to set up a wealth-gathering Geomantic Formation, so why is it getting worse and worse?!”

”...Could it really be related to Sarah?!”

Mrs. Newman listened for a long time and found Keith Newman’s thinking had bizarrely turned towards their precious daughter, so she quickly spat in his face.

”Pfft! Stop spouting nonsense! Our Sarah has good fortune, she can bring you luck!”

”As long as she’s not with Kenneth Osborne, it won’t affect our business!”

”Don’t have pig grease blurring your brain, pin your misfortunes on my daughter!”

Keith Newman wiped his face with a tissue, then appeasingly pulled Mrs. Newman to sit down and spoke softly: ”I know... I know... but think about it, how could it be so coincidental? Even being discovered by the Great Heavenly Master concerning our business?!—Shows Sarah is our little lucky star!”

”That’s more like it.” Mrs. Newman felt a bit better but quickly said: ”Then don’t let Sarah go to the movies with Kenneth Osborne tonight.”

She checked her watch, ”Oh my! It’s almost six o’clock. Sarah, where’s Sarah?!”

She shouted in the house, her loud voice echoed in the three-story private villa.

The live-in maid came out of the kitchen cautiously and said, ”Madam, Miss left half an hour ago.”

”Ah?! That child, why did she leave so quickly?!”

Mrs. Newman said and immediately picked up her phone to call Sarah Newman.

Sarah Newman, at this time, had just come out of an exquisitely decorated dessert shop across from the River City auditorium.

She had been waiting here with her best friend, Cindy Sumner, for over twenty minutes before Kenneth Osborne and his friends arrived.

To her surprise, Kenneth Osborne wasn’t alone, but brought a large group... of friends.

Quite a large group with both men and women.

Sarah Newman was somewhat unhappy.

Clearly it’s a matchmaking, what’s the idea of bringing so many friends?

She pouted and gave her best friend a look.

As her closest friend, Cindy Sumner naturally understood her well.

So with just a glance and a gesture, Cindy Sumner took the initiative to speak up for her.

Cindy Sumner was actually nervous.

Who is Kenneth Osborne?

In River City, almost everyone knows him.

Especially those aged between fifteen and twenty-five, he’s popular with everyone.

Everyone knows the name Kenneth Osborne from River City High School.

If compared to fan circles, he’s a well-established celebrity, the top stream of River City.

Cindy Sumner herself was not academically inclined, and the circle Kenneth belongs to is beyond her reach.

Today, seizing this opportunity to say a few words with Kenneth, she could brag about it on her social media for a whole year.

Kenneth Osborne stood on the steps in front of the auditorium, chatting with his high school classmates while keeping an eye on the surroundings.

He had asked Lawrence Winters to come over and give him an opinion, but it was almost six and that girl still hadn’t shown up.

If it weren’t for being closely watched by classmates, he would’ve made a call to ask.

While looking around, a girl with a figure somewhat resembling Lawrence suddenly popped out from behind the thick column at the auditorium entrance.

Kenneth Osborne instinctively thought it was Lawrence and quickly smiled.

But before his smile reached his eyes, he realized he had mistaken her.

The girl was slightly plump but not Lawrence.

Yet she was somewhat related to Lawrence; she was her second aunt Lucy Winters’ daughter, Cindy Sumner.
