Wizard: I Add Points and Hunt Monsters

”They... they were wrong. So wrong...”

”You still have such grand ambitions?” Lisi scoffed. ”Put the bottle down. Save the dreaming for tomorrow.”

”Dreams? Dreaming? Hahaha...”

Sitting beside them, Wei’en watched the distraught Marco and sighed to himself.

He couldn’t understand what Marco was thinking, much less comprehend his sorrow.

He only knew that the ones at fault weren’t Marco, nor the members of the Nascimento Clan. The blame lay with the Ernst Clan, who had caused all of this to happen.

But so what?

They would even use the entire city-state as a bargaining chip for their personal gain, so why would they care about anyone else’s opinion?

The only solution he could think of was to make those people feel pain. Only then would they retreat to a corner to lick their wounds.

There was no other way.

However, Wei’en’s mind was mostly focused on Black Jack, and on Director Nifa, who had already put away the forbidden item.

He had previously thought Black Jack was here to kill someone,

but after seeing Black Jack’s attitude toward Tina, he was beginning to understand.

The so-called ”search” was indeed for Tina, and the goal was most likely to get her out of the Caster City State, safe and sound.

As for *why* he was doing it... Wei’en had no idea.

”Want a sip?” Seeing his expression, Black Jack knew that his recent actions had given him away.

But he wasn’t flustered in the slightest, nor did he care. He was confident he could do whatever he wanted before anyone else could react.

”No, I’m good,” Wei’en refused.

Black Jack casually retrieved his flask, took a sip, and watched with amusement as Lisi and Marco bickered.

”Been a while since I’ve seen them quarrel like this. Lisi always ends up giving Marco a one-sided beatdown, but he just can’t help himself from provoking her.”

”Hm?”

Wei’en frowned. ’What’s the point of him telling me this?’

’Is he trying to prove he’s the real Old Jack? Give me a break.’

”I don’t actually have anything against you,” Black Jack said, speaking as if to himself. ”And that, of course, includes the one holding your hand.”

He was referring to Tina, who sat quietly to the side.

”So?”

”So? Heh,” Black Jack chuckled. ”It means you should know your place. Don’t get in my way, or you might get caught in the crossfire.”

’I almost fell for your crap!’

Wei’en turned his head away, not responding to him.

He knew perfectly well that if it really came down to a fight with Black Jack, he didn’t stand a chance.

’Still...’

”They’re here!”

Just then, Director Nifa’s calm voice rang out.

Then, everyone heard the sound of synchronized footsteps outside the Secret Investigation Department.

Accompanying the footsteps was a faint, ethereal chant.

”Sing a bewitching song in the dead of night, release the fires of desire. Lure those yet to sleep, let their souls burn, let their greed blaze hotter. Let us revel together...”

’The power of desire... Mitra?’

Before Wei’en could think any further, a tyrannical voice boomed across the entire city-state, drowning out Mitra’s chanting.

”I hate fire!”

Immediately after, a dark cloud drifted over Caster’s sky.

It appeared to be a cloud with unique, Extraordinary properties, one that even partially obscured the red moon.

Hearing the voice, Black Jack couldn’t help but curse under his breath, ”That son of a bitch Waleed, the reckless fool!”

’Huh?’

Wei’en was taken aback. ’The cloud was summoned by someone from the Black Pearl?’

”Is it starting? Then let it begin!”

”O great Master of the Profound Abyss, King of Darkness! We call to you with blood and soul! With burning flames and overflowing curses, in the dead of night, we beseech you to grant us suffering...”

’The Abyssal Sect... a sacrificial ritual!?’
