The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 343: Chapter 343: Doggy Catches a Bad Guy, Becomes a Police Dog

Yang Zhigang laughed. ”We found it so strange back then. All those officials, the rich ones, they were the first to run. They’d crumble at the first sign of a fight, couldn’t hold their ground at all.”

”When we captured those Indian officers, they didn’t cry. But when we were about to leave, they actually started crying. They insisted that we occupy their land and begged us not to go.”

”We were fighting a defensive war, so of course we couldn’t do that. Besides, the international situation was complicated at the time. Their territory was so far away, on the other side of the mountains, and it would have been hard to govern. But those Indians got angry! They said we were looking down on them—that we’d already defeated them, yet we wouldn’t even colonize them.”

”We were all completely dumbfounded. Who ever heard of people begging to be colonized? I just couldn’t believe it. To this day, I still don’t understand why people like that exist.”

Ye Feng and Yang Zhigang chatted outside, smoking and enjoying the pleasant atmosphere.

Their shared military background made them feel like both friends and comrades-in-arms, allowing them to talk freely with no barriers.

Ye Feng chuckled. ”They’re a strange bunch, that’s for sure. I had an Indian client once. At first, he paid a deposit. Then, he actually asked to stop paying deposits and wanted us to ship the goods before he paid. Our partnership had been going well and the order wasn’t large, so I agreed.”

”After he got the goods, he just stopped paying. Then he had the nerve to ask us to ship more, offering a tiny deposit. I shut that down immediately!”

”Once you’ve been burned, if you don’t learn your lesson and keep doing business with them, they’ll just keep ripping you off more and more. The sunk costs will only get bigger.”

”On top of that, I used my connections with Hua Country’s customs to specifically ban that person from importing anything else from Hua Country, just to prevent others from getting scammed.”

”Only then, in order to buy things from Hua Country again, did that Indian guy obediently pay what he owed. From that day on, any Indian client of mine pays in full upfront.”

Yang Zhigang was stunned. ”Indians really do stuff like that? They have no integrity! I thought they would have made some progress after all these years, but I guess they’re still just as pathetic.”

Ye Feng nodded. ”Yeah, who would’ve thought? But they’re different from us, so it’s normal that we can’t wrap our heads around it.”

Yang Zhigang really enjoyed chatting with Ye Feng. They didn’t just talk about the trivialities of daily life, but also about their past military experiences.

He even found it more interesting than talking with his nephew, Yang Jianguo. Yang Zhigang liked it a lot.

As for his son, Yang Jianming, on the other side of the ocean, Yang Zhigang had long since pushed him to the back of his mind.

Since his son looked down on his own country and had flown across the ocean to help build up American Imperialism, Yang Zhigang just pretended he didn’t have a son.

Watching Yang Zhigang leave, Ye Feng smiled. ’Life is pretty wonderful after all,’ he thought.

Wu Jiao was in the room with Pingping and An’an, reading books. By nine o’clock, the children had both fallen asleep.

By the time Ye Feng returned, Han Xiaorui was already back in their room, fast asleep.

After taking a shower, Ye Feng lay down next to Han Xiaorui and placed a large hand on her belly.

Although it was very flat, and even muscular, a child was already growing inside.

The feeling filled Ye Feng with anticipation, an anticipation mixed with a hint of apprehension, and an apprehension tinged with excitement.

Drifting to sleep with these emotions, he dreamt in the middle of the night of a child chasing after him, calling him ”Daddy.”

After a night of sweet dreams, Han Xiaorui got up and took her daughters for a walk.

The family’s dogs, Heizi and Dahuang, followed close behind, with a large pack of other dogs trailing after them.

As they passed the police station, Officer Li’s face lit up, his eyes filled with undisguised longing.

”Comrade Xiao Han, I see these dogs are about half a year old now, around the same age Dahuang was when he distinguished himself. Can we take them out on missions yet?”

Han Xiaorui smiled. ”Well, your officers have been feeding them all this time. Why don’t you take them back to be tested?”

Although their home had a lot of space, as the twenty prospective police dogs grew bigger and bigger, the backyard was starting to feel cramped.

Even though the police station sent people over specifically to feed them and clean up, having so many dogs was starting to affect the family’s quality of life.

Officer Li’s face lit up when he heard this. ”Great! I’ll call for a vehicle to come over right now! We’ll take them to the K-9 training base for testing. If they meet the standards, they can start distinguishing themselves sooner.”

When Pingping and An’an heard the dogs were being taken away, they were a little sad to see them go. However, because there were so many dogs, their affection was spread out.

As long as Dahuang and Dahei were left behind, they wouldn’t be sad enough to cry over the others.

Still, they were reluctant to part with them.

Pingping and An’an stood to the side, watching with pleading eyes as the dogs were loaded onto the truck one by one.

”Daddy, are they going to eat the puppies?” Pingping asked, her eyes welling up with tears, worried that the puppies would be killed after they left.

Ye Feng chuckled softly. ”They’re not going to be eaten. They’re going to become police dogs, the police officers’ special helpers.”

Pingping and An’an blinked. ”Doggie police officers?”

Ye Feng explained patiently, ”That’s right, they’re the police officers of the dog world, and they catch bad guys. Remember when Sister Minmin was kidnapped by those villains? It was our Dahuang who saved her. Now, these dogs are going off to catch even more bad guys.”

Hearing this, Pingping and An’an immediately stopped crying. ”Doggies catch bad guys, be police!”

Nearby, Officer Li’s face broke into a wide smile. ”That’s right! Sometimes these dogs are even more capable than police officers. For example, a police officer’s nose isn’t nearly as good as a dog’s.”

Under the earnest gazes of Pingping and An’an, the twenty dogs were loaded onto the truck. Since their usual handlers were going with them, the dogs didn’t put up any resistance.

Ye Feng dropped the children off at school. Curious about the dogs’ abilities, he decided to follow along and watch.

At the K-9 training base, preparations for all sorts of tests were already complete.

They would have been happy if even half of the dogs passed the evaluation, but to their surprise, not only did all of them pass, their results were nothing short of excellent.

Their sense of smell was so sharp that they could quickly find any object they had scented before.

They aced a whole series of trials, from detecting bombs and drugs to tracking a person using a piece of their clothing, completing each task with incredible speed.

The twenty new police dogs were quickly snapped up by the various police stations across Shencheng.

They were even put to the test on some cold cases, and to everyone’s amazement, they actually managed to find the culprits.

Petty thieves had nowhere to hide, and the level of public security improved dramatically.

Even more shockingly, the dogs’ abilities in bomb and drug detection were particularly outstanding.

Several drug traffickers and their dens in Shencheng were uncovered, forcing them to retreat to other cities.

This string of solved cases brought the police officers of Shencheng into the spotlight.

When other departments made inquiries, they learned about the new K-9 units.

A unit from Yunnan directly applied to the higher-ups to borrow five of the police dogs. The Shencheng department was reluctant to part with them, so they sent three as support.

The results were outstanding. The dogs helped crack several major cases in a row, causing a huge stir within law enforcement circles.

Therefore, when Han Xiaorui returned home on Friday after a two-day rest and another trip out to sea, she found Officer Li waiting at her home once again!

Han Xiaorui smelled strongly of the sea, but she was in high spirits.

”Comrade Xiao Han, how was the catch this time?” Officer Li asked with a smile, his ulterior motive obvious.

Han Xiaorui took two steps back. ”Please, stay right there. I reek of the sea. Let me go take a shower first. Whatever it is, we can talk after I’ve cleaned up.”

Officer Li beamed amiably. ”Alright. As it happens, I have a big proposition to discuss with you.”
