The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 333: Chapter 333: Solving Family Members’ Employment

Han Xiaorui nodded. ”Yeah. At first, you might not need a big factory. You could start with a workshop.”

”Isn’t there an industrial park next to our Jinshan Bay? You can rent a smaller factory space and just buy some simple ironing and packaging equipment.”

”If you hire people, could you prioritize hiring from my side? You know, a lot of the men in the security department aren’t local, and living apart from their families isn’t a long-term solution.”

”This year, quite a few families have followed them here. They can only find odd jobs at the seafood market, which don’t pay much and are heavy labor. If you set up a workshop, this kind of work would be perfect for the women.”

Wu Lingling nodded and immediately agreed. ”Sister Xiao Rui, this is a great idea you’ve given me. When the time comes, I’ll prioritize hiring from Jinshan Bay and your place.”

”I’ll go find Lawyer Chen right now and have him help me register the company as soon as possible. Then, the clothing store and the processing factory will both be under this company’s name.”

Han Xiaorui smiled. ”Right, he’ll be faster. I know you need money, so when I get back, I’ll calculate everything and sell my shares to you at a reduced price.”

This time, Wu Lingling didn’t refuse again.

That very day, Wu Lingling resigned.

Between Yao Ziqian’s feng shui and antique shop and her own clothing store, she simply had no time to manage the ornamental fish shop anymore.

Fortunately, the assistant manager was very capable and responsible.

She was already in charge of the day-to-day operations.

Wu Lingling handed over the key responsibilities to Manager Wang, promoting her with a higher salary, a one percent commission, and a two percent share of the total profits.

However, the contract stipulated that the manager only had profit-sharing rights, not ownership rights, so there would be no need to buy them back later.

Han Xiaorui gave Wu Lingling ten thousand yuan—not too much, not too little.

Wu Lingling was already very satisfied, feeling that Han Xiaorui was incredibly generous and loyal.

Of the fifty thousand yuan Yao Ziqian had brought over, she had spent thirty-nine thousand on the shop, including everything inside.

After Yao Ziqian tidied it up, it was ready for business.

Wu Lingling left one thousand yuan with Yao Ziqian for reserve funds. With the ten thousand yuan she got from Han Xiaorui, she now had twenty thousand yuan in startup capital.

Five thousand yuan went to renting and renovating the storefront. Of the remaining fifteen thousand, five thousand was used to rent the factory space, and another five thousand to buy tables, chairs, and ironing equipment.

Wu Lingling’s brand was named Alice. For the clothing tags and so on, she combined elements from other brands in the mall to create a tag that looked high-end.

Then, based on the different styles and names, she would attach the corresponding tags and barcodes, making them look exactly like high-end apparel.

Shop name: Hong Kong & Macau Fashion.

Wu Lingling was a woman of action. Within a week, everything was in place, for both the workshop and the factory.

She wired five thousand yuan to Yao Ziqian’s older sister, Yao Zili, asking her to pick out high-quality clothing in new, attractive styles.

Yao Zili had received a call from her younger brother, who told her that everything was progressing smoothly in Shencheng.

Wanting them to live well and comfortably in Shencheng, Yao Zili was naturally very invested in her younger brother and sister-in-law’s business.

She had all the data from the wholesale market; she knew exactly which clothes sold in high volume, which sold quickly, and which were good quality.

Plus, since she was picking them out personally, the stall owners might try to fool others, but they wouldn’t dare try to fool her.

Yao Zili was a government employee sent to strengthen management of the wholesale market. The land these stalls were built on had belonged to her husband’s family, and they owned a quarter of the stalls here.

Many people even rented their stalls from Yao Zili, so absolutely no one would try to deceive her.

Yao Zili could not only get reasonably priced clothing, but the quality was also guaranteed.

With the five thousand yuan, she directly got Wu Lingling fifty thousand yuan worth of goods, with the rest on credit to be paid after they were sold.

When the clothes arrived in Shencheng by rail freight, Wu Lingling realized her vehicle was too small and had to rent a larger truck at the train station to haul all the goods back.

Han Xiaorui found Tang Ying. By now, Tang Ying was not only a key technical member of the fish farm but also the farm’s director of women’s affairs.

It was a position for managing female employees and the families of male employees, and it came with an extra twenty yuan per month as a position allowance.

”Tang Ying, can you get a headcount of who wants to work at the clothing factory? It’s not sewing clothes, but ironing and packaging. The work is light. The base salary is forty yuan a month, but it’s piece-rate, so the more you do, the more you earn, plus there’s a commission. They can probably make around 70 to 100 yuan a month, maybe even more.”

Tang Ying’s eyes lit up when she heard this. ”Boss, what you’ve told me today is truly fantastic news.”

”After those wives send their kids to school, they have nothing to do. They’re not used to being idle, so they’re always looking for work.”

”The seafood market needs people, but it’s all heavy labor. It breaks my heart to see them push through it, exhausted like that.”

Han Xiaorui smiled. ”It proves we women are masters of our own house now, capable of excelling both at home and at work.”

”Since the women are working so hard, the men should also be considerate and not let them shoulder all the housework at home.”

Tang Ying nodded. ”Of course. My husband used to be a ’hands-off manager.’ My mother-in-law is the type to put her son first in everything and wouldn’t let him do any work.”

”In the past, things my husband should have been doing, my mother-in-law would do instead. I told her several times, but she wouldn’t listen. A while ago, she broke her arm, but she still couldn’t bear to see her son work and told me to do it.”

”So after I finished cooking, I refused to wash the dishes or the pot. My husband works hard, but so do I. After I had a fight with him about it, he obediently started doing it.”

Han Xiaorui nodded. ”Family harmony is also very important. We must always pay attention to our employees’ morale.”

”For now, they need five people. They must be healthy, and quick with their hands. If anyone’s interested, tell them to sign up quickly. They can start work after a physical exam.”

Tang Ying nodded. ”Right now, there are only five women whose children are old enough to go to school on their own. I guess Lingling probably already asked around.”

Hearing this, Han Xiaorui was taken aback for a moment, then she smiled. ”Brother Jianguo is Lingling’s brother-in-law. It was probably Brother Jianguo who told her.”

Tang Ying moved quickly, notifying the five women to go for their physicals.

As long as they had no infectious diseases and were healthy, they were hired on the spot.

The women valued this job highly. It wasn’t far from the primary school, and they could even have their children come eat at the workshop’s cafeteria for lunch.

Wu Lingling had fully considered the needs of her female workers. Never mind the salary, just by providing this convenience, she had already won their loyalty.

Zheng Xiuxiu was one of them. She had a son and a daughter now enrolled in Jinshan Bay Primary School, one in third grade and the other in first.

After school, the older brother would bring his younger sister over together.

Wu Xiuxiu wanted to pay. ”Boss Wu, I have two kids. I can’t take too much advantage of the factory.”

Wu Lingling smiled and waved her hand. ”It’s just a matter of adding another pair of chopsticks. Don’t worry about it. As long as you all work diligently, nothing else matters.”

’She had learned from Han Xiaorui: if you want to make big money, don’t sweat the small stuff.’
