The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 318: Chapter 318

After the meal, Ye Feng walked around the martyrs’ cemetery one last time to say goodbye to his comrades.

When he emerged from the cemetery, Ye Feng’s entire demeanor had changed. It felt as if an invisible weight had slowly been lifted from his shoulders.

He was truly at peace, ready for a fresh start.

The next day, Hong Tian and Pang Gu led them to a famous scenic spot in Malipo.

The Cizhu Dam Sea of Clouds.

Looking down from the high mountains, they saw a boundless sea of clouds, like standing on the shore of an ocean where waves surged among peaks. The sunrises and sunsets cast a kaleidoscope of colors, ever-changing and magnificent.

They took many precious photos in these places.

Nearby were villages of ethnic minorities, places full of unique character. They dressed in traditional clothing, posed against the local scenery for photos, and soaked in the ethnic culture.

They visited the border crossing. Ye Feng pointed to the boundary line. ”North of this line is our land, and to the south is Vietnam. If anyone dares to step into our country without permission, it’s our duty to drive them out.”

Ye Chen clenched his little fists. ”I know, Big Bro. We have fine wine for friends, but shotguns for wolves.”

”That’s right!” Ye Feng nodded in approval. ’This little brother of mine is pretty sharp.’

After the trip, Ye Feng had gotten to know his two younger brothers better. He realized they weren’t completely useless after all.

They stayed for a whole week. When the trip was over, it was time to go home.

They had spent a relaxed and happy honeymoon in this small border town.

Here, it was as if Ye Feng had absorbed enough energy to be completely revitalized. He was full of life, his eyes shining with even more vigor.

Han Xiaorui thought, ’Coming here was absolutely the right decision.’

Observing with her eyes and feeling with her heart, she found beauty everywhere.

Han Xiaorui prepared a lot of flower cakes for Wu Jiao and Wu Yao. ”In Kunming, there’s a direct train to your provincial capital, so you can go straight home,” she instructed. ”I’m so sorry that coming here meant you couldn’t go home for the New Year.”

Wu Jiao shook her head and hugged Han Xiaorui. ”Sister Xiao Rui, thank you for bringing Wu Yao and me here. I got to see my brother. From the time he enlisted until he died on the battlefield, we never saw him.”

”Seeing him laid to rest here, and knowing that people still pay their respects and haven’t forgotten his sacrifice, gives us great comfort. When I get home, while things aren’t busy, I’ll bring my mother and younger siblings to visit him.”

”I’ll also bring them to see how beautiful and wonderful the place my brother protected with his life is. The peace we have now was bought with his sacrifice. He died serving his country. He was a true, upstanding man.”

Hearing Wu Jiao’s words, Han Xiaorui nodded. ”Okay. If you have trouble buying tickets, apply with the local armed forces department. They have policies for this. Don’t worry about the cost. Our business did even better this year, so the salaries and bonuses will be higher.”

Wu Jiao nodded gratefully. ”Thank you, Sister Xiao Rui.”

In Kunming, they transferred to different trains and headed to their respective homes.

With Qi Wenxuan joining them, there were now five adults to look after the four children, which was manageable.

Everyone loved the trip.

Ye Ling and Ye Chen were especially obedient, no longer acting spoiled or willful.

Whatever their big brother and big sis-in-law said, they did. They weren’t picky eaters anymore. In short, they had become the good children Mr. Ye hoped they would be.

As the guard, Xiao Zheng called to report this.

Ye Zheng was thrilled and became even more convinced that leaving his two sons with Ye Feng was the right decision.

He decided that from now on, whenever they had a school holiday, he would just toss the kids over to Shencheng.

Ye Zheng was happy, but Wang Liwen was not. She was even worried, constantly afraid that Ye Feng would target her two sons.

But Wang Liwen couldn’t win against Ye Zheng, so she could only glare helplessly.

She had been in Shencheng, planning to wait for the children to return so they could all go back to Beijing together.

But Ye Zheng had already left, and she had work to attend to, so she had no choice but to leave early as well.

By the time they returned to Shencheng, it was already the tenth day of the first lunar month.

”Big Sis-in-law, we’re going back to Beijing soon. When are you going to take us fishing on a sea boat?” Ye Ling couldn’t help but ask, wanting to go out on the ocean before they went home.

Ye Chen nodded eagerly. ”Yeah, I want to go to sea too. Big Sis-in-law, please take us.”

Finally, worn down by their pestering, Han Xiaorui had no choice but to agree. ”Alright then. I’ll take you out fishing in the ocean on a small boat.”

Ye Chen shook his head. ”Big Sis-in-law, no! I want to go on the big boat, not a small one.”

”The big boats can’t come back the same day. You’re still little; your bodies can’t handle it.” The weather was cold, and it was even colder at sea. She couldn’t possibly agree to the demands of these two little rascals.

When kids get sick, it comes on fast. If something happened, they wouldn’t be able to get back in time.

Ye Ling insisted, ”Big Sis-in-law, the small boat is no fun. We want to go on the big boat. Please just take us one time!”

Han Xiaorui thought for a moment, then said, ”No. It’s very cold in the winter, and you’re still young. You could easily get sick on the boat. This time, I’ll take you fishing on the small boat. When summer comes, I’ll take you on the big boat.”

Seeing his two brothers endlessly pestering Han Xiaorui, Ye Feng started to get angry. ”Do you think the ocean is the same as dry land? Bobbing around on the sea, you’ll probably get seasick. If we really took you out there and you couldn’t handle it, we’d have to bring you back.”

”A boat that big, with so many crewmen... a single trip to sea costs a lot of money! To you, it might just be a game, something fun to do, but this is your big sis-in-law’s livelihood, and the livelihood of all those crewmen.”

”And the money isn’t even the most important thing; your safety is. Get used to it on the small boat first. Do a little fishing. Then in the summer, when it’s not so cold and you’re less likely to get sick, we’ll take you out to sea on a big boat.”

When the two brothers heard their big bro say this, they glanced at each other, knowing their plan wasn’t going to work.

Ye Chen quickly said, ”But you said it, Big Bro! When summer comes and we have our summer vacation, Big Sis-in-law, you have to take us on the big sea boat.”

”I said it!” Ye Feng replied. ”Your big sis-in-law’s boat is a fishing trawler; the conditions aren’t great. By summer, there will be a yacht. You can fish and have fun on it. It’s much more interesting than a trawler.”

Hearing this, Han Xiaorui froze for a second, then counted on her fingers. ”But I only have fishing boats. I didn’t buy a yacht.”

Ye Feng smiled. ”You didn’t buy one, but my aunt and uncle did! They’re giving us a yacht as a wedding present. It was originally going to be a custom build, which takes a long time. But my uncle bought this one from a friend of his.”

”But it requires all sorts of paperwork and has to be transported, so it’ll take at least two months to get here. By then, even if it’s the off-season for fishing and we can’t take the trawlers out, we can still go play on the ocean with the yacht.”

Han Xiaorui was dumbfounded. ”Oh my god, Aunt and Uncle actually got us such an expensive gift! I don’t even know how I could possibly reciprocate!”

”They’re our elders; it’s natural for them to give us gifts. Just accept it!” Ye Feng smiled. ”They love going out to sea too. It’ll be more fun when we can all go together.”
